you need a specific cable and charger to get the "super" charging. I bought a cable from Amazon. You'll see it has a purple plastic piece in the USB A portion. If you search ebay/Amazon for mate 9 super chargers you'll see a few. A regular USB C cable, no matter how "nice" doesn't give you the "super charger" speeds. The cable has to have some special pins i believe to send the right signal to the phone to draw the power from the correct charger (BTW the cord plugged into a fast or quick charger (2.0 or 3.0) won't draw the extra juice - I tried it). You get "fast charging" not "super charging". Hope that helps.

I think the 5-amp (4.5 volt) Huawei charger is (essentially) proprietary. I use an Aukey car charger and Aukey wall charger when not using the stock charger. I don;t think you will find a non-Huawei charger with those amperage/volt specs. If you do, please let us know!
Although, to be honest, I don't really need to charge the phone aside from plugging it in on my nightstand before going to sleep, and I use an older 'slow' charger for that since it'll have 6-7 hours to charge. I also plug in to the above car charger when using navigation, and it charges the phone at a pretty fast speed.
If you want the exact same cable (plus power brick, selfie stick, and micro-USB-to-C adapter), the Honor Gift Box is like $10-15.
The mate 9 is also compatible with USP-PD and charges almost as quickly as supercharge.
