when you buy a barbie you get the doll and then you're meant to get a bunch of fashion packs full of clothes to dress her up in. monster high was never really like that - they released different versions of the dolls in collections with themed outfits, basically, so you were meant to buy a new doll to get a new outfit.
monster high also had an unpopular reboot recently where they changed the look of the dolls. idk if you're familiar with my little pony, but it's like the difference between gen 3 and gen 4 (friendship is magic). the newer dolls on the whole tend to be lower in quality -- more "budget," stripped of accessories, non-poseable limbs -- though there are still some great dolls in the new gen. and at her age, it's possible she's more familiar with the new gen anyway! but some of the older, higher-quality, new in box dolls are still available for a reasonable price on amazon too!
at those price points with a $50ish dollar budget you could get her several brand new in box dolls :)
Signature Spectra isn't made anymore. You'll have to either pay more than retail price on the secondary market or you could get Ghoul's Alive Spectra since she has a very similar outfit.
If you are going secondary market than ebay is your best bet. This one is a decent price, only a but more than the original retail.
