It's just because you linked to your user saved list, the new link is fine.

The X570 pairs well with a high-performance NVMe drive. There is a decent selection of great drives right now. Since you mentioned budget I figured you'd want the best value in that segment. That would be the Sabrent Rocket, although there are other drives that share its hardware like the Silicon Power P34A80 or Addlink S70. The Rocket is the cheapest but you might trust one of the other two brands more (although I'd consider them all around the same quality). This assuming you're looking for 1TB.

It's possible to get the QLC-based Intel 660p or Crucial P1 for cheaper at 1TB and for most things they'll be just as fast. Their performance is not as consistent especially when fuller, however, due to the nature of QLC. They are an excellent value so you may want to consider that - Linus Tech Tips has a video on the 660p (the P1 has the same hardware, more or less). Alternatively there are SM2262/EN drives like the EX920 but this drive is aging a bit and at equal price I'd probably take one of the drives linked above. HP's support is suspect as well.

If you decide to go with the Rocket, be sure to check out Sabrent's site: they have a utility for formatting the drive if required (only needed if you are going to clone the OS to the new drive, and maybe not even then) and you have to register the drive to get the full five-year warranty.

Hey NewMaxx, I really appreciate all the hard work you do to keep us informed, you have influenced a lot of my purchases I make for me and my friends, and I can't thank you enough, but thank you so much! Anyway, I recently ordered an Xbox One X, and I was planning to replace the internal HDD with an SSD. It uses a 2.5" drive and thankfully has SATA III, and I was looking at either the Inland Professional 1TB SSD or the MX500 1TB. This will be for the OS and games, and the drive has to have a capactiy of at least 1TB for formatting purposes. Will the Inland be good enough for those purposes, or should I spend $20 more and get the MX? Thanks again, I appreciate your time.

I just ordered this.

https://www.amazon.com/XPG-GAMMIX-NAND-Gen3x4-AGAMMIXS11P-1TT-C/dp/B07KZNTZYB/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=gammix+1tb+s11&qid=1573478801&sr=8-1

It would be primarily used as a Boot drive....and for a few games here and there. So constant writing wont be happening on it.

Would this serve as a good drive for Boot/Games? Or should I be better off with a Samsung drive or WD?

Also what would a good motherboard be to pair with it? I am new to the m.2 world (my last build was 7 years ago).

Would this be a good option?

Hey Newmaxx,

I had more of a general question(s).

Back in the SX8100 thread you mentioned the smaller DRAM size would put it in the more intermediate category, but because it was dual-sided it leans performance. Why are dual-sided better than single sided?

Also, since you are reddit's storage guru, I'm trying to learn more about storage and I wanted to know if you have any thoughts about flash drives. If you have the time to answer, what I should look into / learn about? Same with SD Cards, though I know there's tons of info about the latter especially when it comes to their photography/videography purposes.

As a side note, looks like Sabrent just dropped a QLC drive on Amazon.. Claimed 3200/2000 R/W speeds. Couldn't find anything similar on your spreadsheet to figure out the nand or controller.

Ooh, nice. Price seems pretty decent at $650. Not the best value, but I guess value goes out the window a bit when you want maximum storage density.

Hi! I am an OG Xbox one console owner and I am looking at getting an SSD or external hard drive as I want faster loading times and might be running out of space soon. I mainly play Destiny 2, NBA 2k20, and Call of Duty and these games/DLCs will be coming out soon. I delete a lot of games I haven't played in a month, so I usually have no more than 5 games installed. For example, I'll be deleting NBA 2k19 and BO4 so I can install the new COD and 2k20, so space may not be an issue.

I was wondering if you can help a console player. I went on amazon and found a TC SUNBOW 500GB SSD for $90, but found another Samsung 500gb one that is way more expensive. I'll link some others:

Sandisk

ADATA

I may be asking much, but I am wondering what is the difference between some of these. All are about 500gb, but some are way cheaper than others. Is it the brand? Keep in mind, I only am looking to buy an SSD for load times first, storage second (as I mentioned before, I always delete games I'm not playing).

Hi, I'm interested in getting the Sabrent Rocket on sale. I'm debating between the 1TB vs 2TB. I could have sworn I read something saying the performance on the 2TB for the e12 SSDs being worse than the 1TB. Any truth or am I misremembering?

Also any reason to grab Inland over this?

u/AnalRevolver · 1 pointr/NewMaxx

Not sure if you've seen this yet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZQSDQDB Performance seems to be up from the 2TB model? Could this mean the 4tb version of the rocket is using 96L nand or a diff config?

I lied -- another question.

HP EX950 for $78 Amazon

Samsung 970 EVO for $90 Amazon

Samsung 970 EVO Plus for $110 Amazon

Which would you choose for the boot drive?
