>I wish I could try one without buying it first

amazon's return policies are pretty generous. i would actually be comfortable ordering one of each, test them out, and return all but the one i liked most.

so you're grabbing the logitech model, the one that looks similiar to the apple keyboard?

>Seriously though, those keyboards are tiny... I'd be so impressed at how fast you could type on one of those.

the two smallest ones would require a thumb-typing method most likely, but i suspect it would still allow for quick typing given the phsyical buttons.

>EDIT: Oh wait, what about this one? I forgot I had it a wishlist: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055QYJK6/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1

i like that one too. appreciable design, tiny but fully functional. very nice. it's clearly very similira to the logitech model and the apple keyboard...given the minmal price difference, i'd probably opt for the logitech version over that because i have more faith in logitech's quality control than hp's, personally.

Amazon has quite a few decent leather ones. These ones are especially good if you want some sort of functionality:

  • Angled

  • Rotating

  • Wallet-like

If that's not what you're looking for, there's been a post about a neat-looking customizable case from Treegloo. These kinds of cases tend to be more expensive, but they seem to be quite sturdy and stylish.

It really depends what functionality you want from the case, what material to use, your price range, etc. But looking at your username, I think another UK redditor could help you out better than I can :)

Here's more discussion on cases, and here's a UK site that has a pretty good selection of cases.
u/bloodshotboy · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Oh wow. Those are crazy tiny/portable. I wish I could try one without buying it first — I'm pretty confident I'll like the Logitech... ordering it now. Wish me luck.

Seriously though, those keyboards are tiny... I'd be so impressed at how fast you could type on one of those.

I have been using this for a while:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MOHLVC

Works great, and best of all, no more smudges on my screen :)

I have not really used it for writing notes though. I use it for most other tasks but note taking. The tip is pretty big, so not sure how accurate it would be for taking notes.

For general use, it is a great stylus though.

I have replaced my screen twice. The repairs were successful both times, although on the first go the LCD flex cable conked out on me and I had to pay $7 to get a new one. But the next repair was golden.

My real problem is the integrity of the replaced screens. I feel like the replacement parts are not as good as the original; I've cracked both of my replacements, and am ordering a third. Although, this can be mitigated by using a case or taking a lot of care when replacing (I, for instance, didn't save my original adhesive on my first repair). I'd say it's worth it, unless you somehow find a better deal on a new tablet (which would be rare).

With regards to price, I found one for only $44. It's got good reviews, too: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBSGYZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/LickItAndSpreddit · 5 pointsr/Nexus7

This is the specific one I'm trying out.

Full disclosure: I will be testing it out and providing feedback on it as a product tester. I am getting the product at a discounted rate, but this has no bearing on my review of the product.

This one actually has a lot of excellent reviews, and I like that the tip is retractable (I assume this cuts down on accumulation of lint, dust, dirt, and debris when it's stored in a pocket, in a bag, etc.).

I also came across this one, which has replaceable tips (so the entire stylus body doesn't need to be thrown out when a tip is worn out). It has the same rating, but more than 1.5 times the reviews of the one I'm getting.

Reading through some of the reviews of the first product, it seems like the tips do last for a while.

If you do want to see if you can get better precision (I realize now this is a more appropriate word than accuracy) I would suggest you try to open up one of the tips and 'stretch' it to a point with a plastic 'nub' (like a coffee stirrer) and see what the screen response is like. It would likely involve a lot of 'kludging', but when I first got a rubber-tipped capacitive stylus I thought of doing something similar to get a finer implement.

I ordered this case that MoKo had for sale on Amazon at the same time I preordered my Nexus 7. Once the 7 came out, they realized that it had the magnet detection screen turn on feature, and sent me an email saying that they would replace my case for free! I had to purchase the new one from Amazon, then they refunded and sent me the brand new case (free 2 day shipping). It is just like the one pictured here, but with a stylus holder.

So good on you, MoKo! For taking care of your customer, even though I didn't have to ask for it.

u/povsky · 5 pointsr/Nexus7

Personally I've really enjoyed these cases. They ship fast and are only 10 bucks. They also have a smart cover, meaning it will turn the screen off when the flap is closed (something the $20 case Google sells does not do). They also come in quite a few different colors for you and your SO.

As for Apps, lets see.

  • Reddit News (has a great landscape mode very recently added)
  • Skype (recently updated to have video calls on N7)
  • Google Drive (Docs)
  • Pandora
  • OneCast (podcasts)
  • Netflix
  • TwitchTV (If you enjoy watching LoL/SC2 Streams
  • SuperGNES (emulator for SNES, this one runs AMAZING)
u/sirdashadow · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I have one with a stylus holder on it. Cost me $20 tho but it was worth it, my favorite case so far.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007S9ZSGW

Edit: It's now $16.99 with free shipping

u/OldManHenry · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

I bought this one and I love it. When you set the Nexus on it, the screen will pop on to notify you it's charging, make sure to switch the screen back off or it will charge super slowly.

u/thesonofapreacherman · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I bought these after not returning the horrible Moko brand ones. Used the tape hinge installation method and it went on perfectly. Cheap and free shipping with Amazon Prime

http://www.amazon.com/amFilm-Premium-Protector-Invisible-Packing/dp/B008LURQ76/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343591154&sr=1-3&keywords=nexus+7+screen+protector

u/batboy29011 · 1 pointr/Nexus7

This exact thing happened to mine so I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C40OG22/ref=mp_s_a_1_sc_1?qid=1404512158&sr=8-1-spell&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 and it works great charges my nexus 7 2013 just fine. The only issue is you gotta find the sweet spot and it's not that hard to find either. I highly recommend this product.

u/Link2999 · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Damn. I just bought 3. (You save on shipping if you buy more than one). Cost me $10.93.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DE8R3BO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4OKXPU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CKA1IYU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edit: Now they're a penny. Can't automatically cancel, but I sent an email and ordered them again for a penny each. Total came to like $7.99.

Edit 2: Cancelled my first order as of 2pm EDT. I also put in another order for another case at $3, so I paid $10 for 4 cases. Great deal! (Cases are back up to 99cents by the way)

u/GunFishin · 1 pointr/Nexus7

http://amzn.com/B00D9VAAG6

$7 and absolutely love it. I enjoy using naked devices at all possible.

u/OK_Eric · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I went with this one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RQ10VC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But unfortunately it looks like it's unavailable. It was only $5 when I got it, works great! Feels like it would be worth around $20.

u/BoyBlunder99 · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I used a rooCase on my NookColor, and it worked great. Here's the Nexus 7 version.

http://www.amazon.com/rooCASE-Multi-Angle-Leather-Google-Automatically/dp/B008F05Q2E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342637926&sr=8-1&keywords=roocase+nexus+7

edit: sorry for not describing it. It has the smart cover capability, as well as standup in landscape.

u/Awesomeade · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Got curious, and found this on amazon.

Looks pretty solid.

u/aquasharp · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Yes of course.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00E3ZXZ3M?vs=1

This is the one I have. I'm very happy with it.

u/thatayshungirl · 1 pointr/Nexus7

There's a $10 case on Amazon that has a keyboard built in and also has a stand. If you order it, you need to get a OTG adapter ($0.97) in order for it to work. It seems like it has good reviews
Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004OB0EBQ/ref=mp_s_a_1?pi=75x75&qid=1345710984&sr=8-1

u/Snapdad · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

I got that one and this one. I haven't received the slim yet, but this swivel one, while a little bulky, still feels nice and being able to swivel it around to prop it up vertically makes it worth while. (so far).

u/cnxyz · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

For accessories, I went with the exact following:

Screen Protector

TPU shell

Neoprene zipper-less wrap around sleeve

So far, I only have the screen protector. Tracking shows the TPU shell to arrive on Tuesday, and the sleeve will probably come next week.

Was going for simple, ease of use/transport, and nothing too professional looking (like a folio case). This is supposed to be my leisure toy, so these accessories are supposed to accent my lifestyle intention for it :)

u/Inquisitr · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I've been using something similar

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008F05Q2E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Tho what I really want is a smart cover for the iPad for this thing.

I hate Apple but they do make a nice case.

u/bananaboat22 · 0 pointsr/Nexus7

The roocase covers are quite nice. I got the origami and I'm pleased.

u/doggexbay · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Another recommended app: https://www.pushbullet.com/ This thing is the shit. Turn links, files, notes etc. into a push between devices (phone, tablet, browser, contacts).

[Here's my keyboard.] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009JPBPWO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It's not built-in like my wife's Logitech iPad keyboard, but it's less cramped so good for typing over longer periods. I also like that I can shift the keyboard around depending on my work surface.

u/SecretAgent57 · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I did the same thing with my first Nexus 7 - kept the plastic wrap on until the screen protector arrived. After that, our polydactyl kitten was allowed to play cat games on the tablet. Unbelievably, neither the screen nor the protector was ever scratched! That product, which is still on the N7 a year later, was [amFilm Premium Screen Protector] ( http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Protector-Invisible--Retail-Packing/dp/B008LURQ76/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375324783&sr=8-1&keywords=amFilm+nexus+7). The screen on the new Nexus7 is so beautiful, however, that I think I'll skip the protector this time. The cat can find something else to play with!

Edit: the link is to the 2012 version screen protector. I don't know if amFilm makes one for the new N7.

Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Windows 8, Windows RT and Android3.0+
http://amzn.com/B009JPBPWO

This is the best built one I could find for a decent price. I'm looking for the same.

Edits I can't link properly

u/XavierBlak · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Probably not good. I bought this keyboard case for my nook. It looks like the keyboard parts are identical between those two case.

I found the keyboard is too narrow to type on comfortably. I realize now that any keyboard I would want to type on, would have to be wider than a 7" tablet.

u/abqnm666 · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

I've had the Devicewear Ridge for nearly two years. It's aged well and is sturdy and nice leather, has the magnet for the on/off sensor, and stands up all sorts of different ways.

u/sri745 · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Ah perfect timing OP. I was just looking at cases online. Here are the ones I was considering:

  1. Moko Ultra Slim Lightweight
  2. Poetic Slimbook Leather Case

u/Pottersmash · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

I picked up this one because I didnt care for the ones with leather borders interfering with touching the edges of the screen. I've had it for almost a week and love it so far!

u/NoBluey · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

At first I was going to get the Asus Travel Cover for $20 but I read that because it was the first case to be released, it lacks smart wake/sleep. Also the Amazon reviews aren't so hot with an average of 3 stars.

u/technicallycynical · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Just got my case in. Pretty nice, only complaints are that it's kind of hard to hit the volume keys and the edges of the screen. Other than that it was well worth the money.

That's the one I had. Costs a lot for what it does, it's pretty much a piece of rubber you stuck around your N7.

The one you linked seems rather sturdy and well built...

u/Adamfreakinant · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

That case is a rip-off. Mine lasted about 3 months before it started to fall apart.

It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I have the MoKo Google New Nexus 7 FHD 2nd Gen Case - Slim Folding Cover Case and couldn't have asked for more. It's absolutely worth the $13 I spent on it.

It's also the only 'Folio' style cases I've tried (out of 4) that didn't compromise with sound volume/clarity.

u/simon_guy · 4 pointsr/Nexus7

From memory the official cases don't have the magnets.

I have a Deviceware Ridge which is very nice and has the wake magnets. http://www.amazon.com/Devicewear-Google-Generation-Version-RDG-2GN7-BLK/dp/B00EZGS5PC

u/thinkklinck · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Just found this, poetic is a good brand and that deal of 4 bucks to is insane for this right now, free shipping too! You might have to select new nexus 7 instead of old but its there.

http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Slimbook-Leather-Android-Function/dp/B008IEGSGU

u/bjitty · 7 pointsr/Nexus7

I got this one last week. It looks decent I think. Had a nice texture. Was actually smaller than I thought it be.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C40OG22/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1417050881&sr=8-1

Works fine with both my Nexus 7 and 5. Gets a little warm but from what I've read that's normal.

Only complaint is there is a bright blue LED light when it's charging. I put a piece of electric tape over it to solve problem.

I plan on getting a few more to keep around the house.

u/cyberafi · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

Just installed one of these. Super cheap, easy install, no screen degradation.

I thought the URL was going to be in the title... oh well. Here it is:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004OB0EBQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

u/REparsed · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/HP-FB344AA-AC3-TouchPad-Wireless/dp/B0055QYJK6/ref=pd_cp_e_0

It's built well and a lot of the extra the extra keys (like the vol). It was $21 when I got it a couple weeks ago.

u/beermit · 6 pointsr/Nexus7

This was posted earlier. Just ordered one myself. Not a bad deal at all.

u/nobody65535 · 5 pointsr/Nexus7

I got mine on amazon ~6 months ago, for about the same price as it is now. http://www.amazon.com/Devicewear-Google-Generation-Version-RDG-2GN7-BLK/dp/B00EZGS5PC

(aka cheaper than direct from devicewear, even at 40% off)

u/billyburrito · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I have the official "gray" one, its nice... amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DY3J966

u/ensay · 2 pointsr/Nexus7

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Keyboard-Windows-Android3-0-920-004569/dp/B009JPBPWO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382497669&sr=8-2&keywords=android+keyboard+logitech

quick search gives me this. There are Windows, Android and Mac options available. The only difference is the Windows key is replaced with the appropriate keys.

u/foxh8er · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Holy smokes!

Not exactly what I was looking for (I was looking for the folding part), but this is awesome for the price.

What do you think of this case?

u/CovertTiger · 3 pointsr/Nexus7

This is what I use for my Nexus 7 (2013), Devicewear Ridge.

u/themassofthesun · 8 pointsr/Nexus7

yeah...it has a conductive, spongy material at the tip example

u/nakko · 4 pointsr/Nexus7

I am going to try the Pelican 1055CC, and I will let you all know how it fits, how it feels, etc. Seems not that expensive, and much more heavy-duty than most. (I mean, hey, it's a Pelican case...)

u/MuscleAndAShovel · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Mivizu case. $14

Has a little pocket on the front that will hold a USB cord and maybe a wall adapter or wallet or something! It is what I use.

u/SketchyMcSketch · 1 pointr/Nexus7

i'm torn between one that covers the bezel like this one and yours. is there really any difference?

u/seluropnek · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I actually went with one of the ones in the sidebar for this subreddit.

There's a couple complaints about the magnet turning off the tablet when you bend the cover to the back, and one about it overheating, but I haven't seen either of those issues. A lot of people here seem to think the leather case is ugly, but I think it looks nicely simple and professional (I went with the black).

u/TomMelee · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I bought these based on the reviews. I literally can't even get the nexus to pick up that I'm using it. Is there a trick to using a stylus?

They look just like all the other cheapy bubbly ended styli.

edit: I figured it out. They only work if I'm touching the very bottom ring, apparently conduction isn't happening from the pen body down. I pulled off the nub and the ring, twisted out all the extra rubber, and put it back together. It works. It's goddamn thin and hard to hold. Not recommended.

u/dothestew · 1 pointr/Nexus7

I replaced my first gen N7 screen with this - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBSGYZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - really easy, can't even tell it's not the original. Only pain in the ass was the getting the adhesive cut and placed in the correct spots. I've tried unsuccessfully to replace only a digitizer on a phone and it did not go well. Would not recommend.
