I've tested out several different ones. Honestly, I didn't like any of the silicone covers. Silicone is supposed to be breathable, but these did nothing for stopping sweat from wicking the sweat to the cloth Quest covering, and they feel 'sticky' after just a bit of use if you take them off and put them back on, even with an alcohol wipe-down (the silicone absorbs a bit).

Also, I don't recommend any of the cloth covers. From my tests after a single wash even in cold-water by hand, they end up stretching in all the wrong ways and tough to get aligned right without leaving gaps or interfering with vision.

My favorite has been a leather cover. The AMVR cover comes with a replacement bracket with velcro attached and two different thickness leather covers. It also has notches in the top corners for the glasses arms. It comes with a nose guard that sticks with double-sided tape at the bottom to block out light, but I don't use that. I got mine on Amazon for $30.

If you do really want to go with silicone, the best of the bunch that I've tried was the "VR Face Silicone Cover Mask & Face Pad" from a seller named Devansi on Amazon. I had to trim around the inside a bit so it didn't interfere with vision.

Here are the links to Amazon (Sorry MOD if it's against the rules; let me know and I'll edit them out)

Best leather cover that I tested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VT3BM7P

Best silicone cover that I tested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X6DJQS1

BTW, the reason why I have tested so many different Quest products (covers, batteries, cords, cases) is to recommend setups for VR training. I wanted to find the best ones that would allow easy wipe-down in-between sharing among different user.

I'm a bit of an audiophile (my job requires it, after all) and I'm really liking the Bionik Mantis headphones. They're designed to clip onto the halo of the PSVR headset, and they just barely fit onto the Quest without modification (just make sure you put them on the correct sides or you'll have a devil of a time taking them off again). They work stupendously well, and they keep all of the convenience of function of just slipping the headset on and off, without having to deal with extra elements, since they effectively integrate into the headstrap, like the OC Rift or Vive Deluxe Audiostrap.
After reading a very detailed breakdown from a friend involved with the design of the audio systems for Valve's Index headset, I'm rather liking the philosophy of on-ear headphones, or near-head speakers as opposed to total isolation or earbuds.
Anyway, long story short, the Mantis does a really great job. Highly recommended.

Bought a quest about a week ago. Had a CV1 before that; my gf and I noticed it was significantly less comfortable. Found a rad headband to 3D print (shoutout to 'thatdude902' on thingiverse!). Between the headband, short 90 degree aux cable, a sweet little cable organizer sticky thing, and a silicone facial interface cover (beat saber & pistol whip sweating) I'd say it's been an amazing improvement to the headset. I've linked all the items in case you're interested.

Nice. I originally ordered this but, somehow, the package was damaged in shipping and and sent back to Amazon. So, instead, I used this..

CHOETECH 3 Pack 1m/3.3ft USB Type C Cable Nylon Braided USB 3.0 A to USB C Cabl $11 right now

Along with this passive USB extender: Cable Matters USB to USB Extension Cable (USB 3.0 Extension Cable) in Black 10 Feet - $7.99 right now

This combo works great for me and I haven't noticed any major issues besides the Oculus Link Beta software not always seeing my Quest lol. Little over 13ft so not a ton of length but a decent amount. I just used a velcro strap on the back of my DAS to keep it from hanging. Idk if I'll get a longer cable in the future. I'm pretty okay with the length.

u/kwixmusic · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Just as a heads up, because I think my audio solution is pretty great, I highly recommend checking out https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EHSX28M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and buying a bluetooth headset of your choice and just pair them together and attach the TaoTronics adaptor right to the side of the quest. This ALSO lets you attach the audio output of the quest to just about any bluetooth speaker as well, if you want to fill a room up with Quest sound.

There is no delay in Beat-saber, and it sounds much better than the stock speaker OR the earphones.

u/choice2099 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

i have the official case but kiwi grips. i didnt go crazy but it holds a small eyeglasses bag that holds,a micro cloth, lense and defogger spray , chromecast, . battery pack, earbuds, cables holds all that. y
ou just have to breakdown the battery pack which is why i used velcro ties and didnt go with anything crazier.

at first i didnt want official case because nothing would fit but thats not the case. the case i was actually thinking about and have had my hands on before was actually someone bigger. i liked that case too, and the big thing it had going for it, is the controller space and a bit more are free form. i really liked this case too. size matters to me, and ultimately it would have gone into my carry on, which is all i travel with, so space is a priority. its like a square little suitcase

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6N3J8D/

my issue with anything else was i'd have to push in the straps every time and mess up my head size settings, but i guess i forgot the headset retracts every time anyway

u/Notsocoolguy45 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07D7S9211?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title bought this cable. Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but it works great. Tested it with best saber. I’m in shock how well link works.

u/mrmobss · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Bought the recommended Anker cable and these:

USB 3.0 Extension: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00C7SA21U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Yu30DbJSVHERE

USB C Right Angle: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B078YRKTKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Aw30Db77XKPWZ

Anker cable and extension worked like a charm, however the right angle gave me connection issues so I am returning it. As well it took me a few tries on different use ports to find the one that worked for me. If anyone is looking for a extension this works well.

Other findings are that if the quest goes all black, its best to do a full restart and connection resumes as normal. If not check your connections.

u/qwigle · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Not sure if this is where I should ask. I'm in Mexico and on amazon.com.mx this is cable I find which is only 6 feet and it costs around $35 usd so it's too pricey, I found this other one, would it work? It's still not ideal as it's only 6.6 feet but the price is only around $11 usd. Or someone that could help me find one that would work better.

Thanks.

u/Vandalaz · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

You can pick up some [decent travel cases] (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07SWVJJXN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon for like £25, handy for bringing the Quest around with you. I also got a silicone face mask for playing games with my friends. It's easy to take the silicone off and give it a quick wash & dry if there's too much sweat etc. There's also earbuds like this but those ones I bought have a lot of hiss. Oculus offer their official ones which might work better.

u/HighEscape · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I use Koss Porta Pro also with PSVR and Oculus Go.

The Quality is amazing, Headphones are lightweight and have very good bass and treble.

And the cable lasts ages.
Its so thin but superstable.

If you are interested in them id recommed you buy them from a good Online Store and no Marketplace since they are pirated a lot. ;)

I would recommend trying the Quest without headphones before dropping a lot of money on headphones specifically for VR. Integrated audio (having one device to don/doff instead of two) is really important for convenience and accessibility.

There are also headphones that clip onto the headset strap like the PSVR mantis. I'm sure someone (Oculus or 3rd party) will release integrated headphones like those, or we'll find out that the PSVR mantis headphones are compatible with Quest too.

I also bought the AmazonBasics PSVR case after I tried out the Apache 3800. I like the PSVR a lot more!

Even though the physical dimensions are smaller, it seems to fit my Frankenquest much better!

JSVER Gear VR Case - $16 w/ Prime Shipping

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6N3J8D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hAR5Cb9QJDBVN

I think this was recommended on the Go subreddit at one point or another. It's a nice rigid case, and surprisingly the quest fit (with both controllers and a battery pack) with no drama.

I think I'll pick up a microfiber pouch to throw the controllers, and charging accessories into to protect the lenses.

Edit - the Quest charging cable fits in the top half's pouch. I'm not saying this is the best Quest case available - but it was a coincidence that I already owned it, and figured other folks might want something low-profile (and cheap). This doesn't leave tons of extra room for accessories - but it's a solid option!

u/Talton1 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Same with me, get a pretty damn good red ring around the eyes haha!

Might I suggest you get yourself a Silicone foam cover for the more casual games:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WPHB3BT

Really helped reduce the itching after 10 mins, me and VR face foams have never gotten along.

u/maxcovergold · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Thank you for this. Found the same product on Amazon UK for £14. UK Link

This is exactly what I need for demoing to people, looks like it slides on and off over the existing interface for easy cleaning.

u/pixxelpusher · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I was looking at that one the other day, it looked nice!

Ended up getting this one instead because it's more compact and will more easily fit in my backpack. Should have it in a couple weeks:

I use the Energizer 'Recharge' type...silver with a green swoosh. Just don't get the 'Recharge Pro' charger...it never charges to full, mostly 50%, then says it's done. I need to buy a new charger. But the batteries work great.

u/JorgTheElder · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I found it to be comfortable, but bulky.

I switched to a $13 silicone one and I am loving it.

u/ChiefSitsOnAssAllDay · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Glad the official case was sold out when I wanted one. Ended up with an Esimen case which I love: https://www.amazon.com/Esimen-Controllers-Accessories-Waterproof-Carrying/dp/B07STFXHKY/

u/jeremylamb12 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

Can anyone here give an estimate on how much time this would extend my play sessions?

Like

10000mAh for 20 = extra 30 minutes

13000mAh for 38 = extra 45 minutes

etc etc

Because if the $20 one can get me an extra hour of play time then that's enough for me I think.

Like some other users, I've gotten an external battery pack to act as a counterweight while also prolonging battery life. I found a holster that clips onto to the headset and moreover fits in a 3rd party case without having to unclip the battery pack.

The parts I used (I removed my affiliate links)

  1. Topmate 10,000 mah battery pack. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F82WP4Q/
  2. Holster with two clips. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N2PZ4ZP/

I've used these Koss Porta Pros with the Quest. They sound great, the band easily wraps around the headset and they're reasonably priced.

Koss Porta Pros on Amazon

u/TalonX273 · 4 pointsr/OculusQuest

Might be a difference in hardware, but I'm actually floored at how little latency there is. Any latency I felt I could effortlessly compensate for. Via Link, I played my usual Beat Saber Expert + maps on Steam VR. It felt damn near identical to my CV1 (tri-sensor setup) allowing me to get my usual scores. What really surprised me was the lack of occasional stuttering in Beat Saber I normally got from my CV1 setup. I can only describe what team Oculus has done as pure black magic! Like you said though, it's not on the level of an Index PCVR setup. But holy crap, at the price point and added portability, it's more than good enough for most!

For reference, my setup is: i5-3570K, GTX 1060 6GB, Inatek 4-port USB 3 PCI card, CableCreations USB 3 Active extension cable, and Anker 6ft USB C-to-3.0 cable. Might order the 10ft cable for more mobility.

u/yneos · 3 pointsr/OculusQuest

You'll get a lot of different opinions. I'm happy with a silicon cover like this.

u/withoutapaddle · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I went with this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7NNJ61

and this 90 degree adapter:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PB8WCC5

BTW the adapter sticks out just far enough to clear the big plastic arms that connect the headset to the strap, so that's nice!

I plan on just using this for a month or two until the official Link cable is available. The extra flexibility and length of the official cable will be a significant upgrade.

u/satyaloka93 · 6 pointsr/OculusQuest

Nice! I bought three accessories already and I don't have the Quest yet: Studioform comfort strap, VRcover facial interface, and the Koss Porta Pro headphones.

u/MattT127 · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

there are a few good ones out there, looks like the one I just received (which I quite like) is having some shipping issues right now. so if you're looking for something in a pinch, this will work:

I just went with a pair of KOSS Porta Pros though. They are feather-light, sound amazing and can fold up into a leather pouch that you can put int the official oculus hard case.

u/searchingformytruth · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I actually found this case:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RC9JD91/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It arrived yesterday and looks plenty big in person. Plus, you can see a Rift (or Quest, not sure) inside the case in the first picture. It's got a shoulder strap, too, which is great.

u/skippington · 3 pointsr/OculusQuest

This is the one I got on Amazon. It looks exactly the same as the one above. I like that it's slimmer than the 2800/3800 cases that everyone else bought. It's probably not as tough, but I like that it doesn't take up as much space, and holds everything and a little more.

I tried the AmazonBasics USB 3.0 Extension Cable along with Cable Matters USB to USB Extension Cable - Both 3M - neither worked.

Yes, the controllers use one AA battery each.

Yes, it's a magnetic USB-C; no, I don't plan to wear it while charging because I'm a little freaked over the safety risk of that. It will just be to charge without worrying about yanking the cable out and to reduce wear and tear by plugging and unplugging the cable.

I was looking at buying the 6ft variant of the recommended cable ( https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Powerline-Pull-up-Resistor-MacBook/dp/B01E9W8KYC/?th=1 ), and using this ( https://www.walmart.com/ip/USB-3-0-Bus-to-Bus-Data-Wire-Extension-Line-for-Laptop-Camera-Cable/474196059 ) or a similar cable to make it ~10ft. I apologize for being too lazy to learn how to hyperlink but this $20 camera case works wonders for me (as well as others on this sub). You should be careful with your Quest, stuffing it in a backpack may cause unnecessary damage but if you have a lens protector or keep the cardboard one it comes with, you should be fine as long as you are careful. I am not a careful person so I know I need something to keep it all together, plus this case is fully modular so you can configure it anyway you want!

I've ordered this one as it is 10 ft, the one that Oculus recommends is only available in 6 ft on Amazon UK:

Should work though, as far as I understand it has the same specs. Will update in two days when I try it out.

I recommend some headphones, especially when you are into Beat Saber. I use the Koss Porta Pro, which are lightweight, bass heavy and foldable: https://www.amazon.de/Koss-6303157-Porta-Pro-Stereo-Kopfh%C3%B6rer-Schwarz/dp/B00001P4ZH/

I bought these to test with:

Amazon Basics USB 3.0 A to C cable

Right angle USB C adapters

And I have this left over from my Oculus CV1 accessory kit wishlist I put on amazon. I'll report back here with what works and what doesn't. I'm also going to get a public google sheet going of cables, adapters (right angle) and active/passive extensions that work so that people can use that as reference.

EDIT: Link to sheet. Anyone with link can edit. Don't make me regret that. I will lock it. (Though if you want to fix my terrible formatting, feel free.)
EDIT: Had to disable open edit permissions. Going to add a form that will add unformatted data at the bottom, then I'll format it properly into the thread. Here's the form: https://forms.gle/uzyHvmgyXJGuVkKM9

Anker 10000 mAh battery pack is a really good one that I bought. Its roughly 180g but its small and compact and can charge an iPhone 6 around 5 times on a single charge.

I am able to use a 6 ft cable, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E9W8KYC/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_EU10DbBJDFV5D and a 10 ft extension, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019DZ7U2S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_9X10DbG5VWR1E.

I have a main gaming rig and a secondary one in my workout room. The front usb3 ports worked on neither. On my main rig-- i7-9700, 1080ti, Aorus z390 mb, I used the 3.1 usb. The jr gaming rig-- r5 3600, 1070, MSI b450i, I had to use the 3.1 usb marked VR ready.

Only protection I have is the case (this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07STFXHKY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and putting away when I'm not using it. I don't ave any kids or careless friends to break it, so that's enough precaution for me.

I'm a big sweater. I would soak the pad, even while wearing a headband. I've been really happy with these silicone covers. I still sweat, but it channels it around my eyes and down my face. It looks like I'm weeping, but I'm not soaking my headset anymore. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WVBP4JD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oY5HDbZ1WPF94

annoying thing about porta pro is the wire connects to both headphones. i'd rather it just connected to one for a cleaner look.

i wonder if there is a headphone available which is light like the porta pro with a detachable cord so that we could buy a smaller headphone cable.

There are promo photos where you can see the game on a TV in the same room, with friends watching (click through the photos on the amazon order page for example).

I mean, those could be photoshopped for advertising, but I doubt it.

Also, they had monitors set up at the conventions where they were demoing the Quest and Rift S that showed the gameplay as it was happening.

So I'm sure its possible, it's just not clear exactly what buttons to push to make it happen.

u/Jjenlive · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

For those in the UK I've gone for this one from Amazon, 3m long but quite stiff. I'ts gen 1 but should work.

u/therfws · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

I bought an adapter and it works perfectly. If there is any lag I cannot tell at all. It’s very small, adds no weight. Put a small square of Velcro (‘scratchy’ side) on the back and it’ll attach to the side of the quest with the built in ‘soft’ Velcro strip (usually for tightening headband). In a pinch it can also charge from the headset itself with a usbc to micro usb cable (bought separately).

Here is a picture and a link:

Word of warning - from other comments, it doesn't appear as though this Amazon basics extension works. It needs to be an active extension. From this thread, both of these should work:

I had both of these already in my house. The extension I was using for rift CV1 and the anker powerline for an old google pixel I don’t have anymore. They work together.

It also should be here before the quest is.

Hey all. I purchased this cable from Amazon yesterday and got it today. I downloaded the Oculus app and went to set it up and it is stuck on "Connect Your Headset". It's just spinning in circles. I clicked to allow data access inside the headset and the PC is recognizing it but the Oculus software isn't..

Any tips?
