You def dont need one to play, especially on a flanker, but it can help a lot in groups.

here is a lower end gaming mic by a brand I like. quality doesn't matter a whole lot imo as long as you can be heard legibly. pretty much any gamestop will have some cheap 30 dollar headset you can buy.
