This won't help you OP, but others may find it useful. I use these knock-off Field Notes.

They are cheaper, have a small pocket for business cards, and have several perforated pages at the back. I find that last feature especially useful for sharing wiring notes and contact information.

These are not water-resistant like the Rite-in-the-Rain ones, but I generally don't need that myself.

these are my all time favorite for strip, cut, crimp ferrule ends all in one tool.

You can easily write scaling blocks that will filter noise. Also most AI cards come with features for this.. this is explained in Hans Bergers recent book Automating with SIMATIC: Hardware and Software, Configuration and Programming, Data Communication, Operator Control and Monitoring https://www.amazon.com/dp/3895784591?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

He has written a lot of stuff and it's the best. Consise, accurate, thorough. German. Haha

This is a pretty popular book among my colleagues (all 61131-3 ST programmers):

It's a Siemens book, but pretty much all of the concepts are universal for the language.

Have you checked out that book yet? You really just need to get down and dirty in my opinion to learn this stuff. I was lucky enough to be able to see functional programs and learn that way. But hands on is really the best.

Book I had for my class, pretty specific to rs500:

Never tried these but might be worth a shot:

This is a great book for Step 7 Pro (s7300/400). He has other books as well. Pretty long but very thorough. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/3895784109/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Get a "Fox and Hound"

It's a device that generates a signal on a wire then you can detect it along the way with the wand on the other half.

There are several different types of these and other brands.
