Going out on a limb.

The E1000/street is just vastly superior when it comes down to my needs. I've always hated the overall design of the later PSPs, especially with the glossy fingerprint-infested surfaces, The black-silver-black "sandwich" look and the transparent L/R triggers doesn't help either.

Its part of why I love the E1000, The matte finish and the all-black monolithic aesthetic is just so well done imo. Though it has similar bulkiness of the 1000, Its also slightly lighter and feels more natural held in hand (8oz) compered to the 1000 (10oz) & 2000/3000 (6.5oz) with the same reasons as OP. There's no noticeable ghosting even when playing gameboy games on an emulator and the horrible interlacing issues from the 3000 are gone, so I'd say the screen is on par with the Go but larger.

The mono speaker and other gimped features of the E1000 doesn't phase me, as I always use earphones anyway and my brand new Vita Slim already fulfills those other roles. My E1000 is my go-to device for playing psp games released only on UMD, ps1 games not on psn, Homebrew, and as my main emulation station.

Now I would of kept my PSP-Go for all that as well, but the big turn off for me was its proprietary memory stick that only goes up to 16gb, that plus its internal memory is only 32gb. That's not enough for me. In my E1000 is a PhotoFast MS Pro Duo Dual Slot adapter with two 64 GB microSDXC cards totaling up to 118gb of glorious free space in my PSP E1000.

Join the master race, get an E1000.

edit: Yup, thought so.

Bro. You can get every psp game that exists. For free.

Read this and apply the new custom firmware: http://www.reddit.com/r/PSP/comments/q93x6/comprehensive_guide_to_hacking_your_psp_20/

Go to:
www.thepiratebay.se

Search "Dissidia 012: Duodecim" or any game you desire to play... download it, compress it to a CSO with this:
http://psp.dashhacks.com/downloads/psp-iso-compressor-v14
(make sure you choose the right option when you open the program. should be iso -> cso)

Open up your memory stick, make a folder called ISO in the root folder (where you can see the PSP folder), and put your game cso/iso files there.

Boom. You're a hack master.

ALSO, if you want to play PSone Classics or anything from the PSN, go here:
http://www.pspiso.com/showthread.php?1066688-FAST-amp-DIRECT-DOWNLOADS-FROM-SONY-SERVERS-share-your-game-collection-in-10-minutes!
Start at "Instruction #2". The programs you need are included near the top of the post. Let me know if you get stuck anywhere while doing all this. It's fairly convoluted but well worth the effort.

Edit:
I should probably include that you'll need to upgrade the memory stick. I really recommend investing in a 16gb card. You wont regret it. Even when compressed, your games can still end up being over a gigabyte each. Always buy from Sandisk.

16gb:

The one I got is from the link below for $47 CAD+ free shipping from Japan.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00C40MIB8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a much better grip based on the handle where the hand go to. If you want to buy this grip similar like this, it will have to be buying directly from Japan, which mean knowing how to order an item and try to get the seller to ship it oversea which isn't going to be easy or even cheap.

The last choice might be the one on the link below. Under $20 CAD and still in stock now.

Here's the blow-by-blow:

  • There's a great modding guide over in the sidebar. It takes you through getting the most common custom firmwares onto any PSP device, and it's literally a ten minute job, if that.
  • Everyone will give a different answer for batteries. Generally, most aftermarket batteries are terrible, so some recommend hunting down original ones - but you have no idea what sort of condition they'll be in at this point. Another option is removing the UMD drive and installing a LiPo in the void left behind, but that can be a bit intensive, and not everyone wants to lose UMD capability. You can also - with great care - dissect an original battery and install a new cell. Personally, I just picked up a 1200mAh Cameron Sino battery from Amazon two months ago and it seems to be holding up well.
  • Don't bother with overpriced Memory Duo cards - just get a Micro SD to Memory Pro Duo adapter. It's a lot cheaper and you can get higher capacity cards.
  • I've never used a Pandora battery, so I'll leave that to someone else. I don't think you need them now, though.
u/JoeyBlaze · 3 pointsr/PSP

I just recently got one from Ebay, you can try there. I'm sure the preowned from Gamestop are fine as well.

As far as memory..my recommendation is to pick up (2) of these http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-16GB-MicroSDHC-Memory-Class/dp/B001F7AJKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334935355&sr=8-1
and (1) of these http://www.amazon.com/MicroSD-MicroSDHC-Adapter-Converts-Cards/dp/B001RPEJA4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1334935402&sr=1-1
this will work great in the PSP 3000 and will save you alot of money as compared to just getting a 32gb pro duo card.

If you need a Memory Stick with more storage and have 30 dollars left over, consider buying this 128 GB Micro SD Card at https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B073JYC4XM/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=SD+CARD+128+GB+SANDSIK&qid=1558658866&s=electronics&sr=1-2-spell (Make sure to get it shipped by Amazon and not some other retailer for maximum chance of getting an official and not counterfeit card) along with a Micro SD Card to Memory Stick Duo adaptor like https://www.amazon.com/Funturbo-MagicGate-Playstation-Portable-Handycam/dp/B07F68FCHD/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=PSP+Memory+Stick+Adaptor&qid=1565311107&s=electronics&sr=1-3 to allow it to fit inside the PSP, and be patient while it tests your SD Card. Use h2testw to verify that the SD card is legitimate before using it in the PSP system. Counterfeit cards will show "The media is likely to be defective." on h2testw along with a large amount of bytes next to the word "DATA LOST."

You can transfer saves, although you might need a PC and a couple cheap adapters to do it.

You need a card reader capable of reading the SD cards. Pretty much all laptops already have that built in, but for a desktop PC you'll want something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Super-Multi-Card-Reader-TS-RDF8K/dp/B0056TYRMW/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1450062474&sr=1-6&keywords=card+reader

PSP memory sticks generally come with an SD card adapter as well, which you'll also need.

You insert the PSP memory stick into the SD card adapter, then insert that into the card reader on your PC. From there, your PC should automatically detect the memory stick as if it's an SD card, and you can copy the saves for any game to your PC. Once the saves are copied on to your PC, you can copy them to anything you want later, including a different PSP memory stick.

Alternatively, you may be able to simply plug in the whole PSP to your PC using this kind of USB cord and copy the saves that way. It'd be simpler if it works, but I also don't have firsthand experience with it.

I'm having this problem at the minute with a 3rd party battery I've purchased recently and used just once. I picked up a 3rd party as the official small psp batteries seem to have a poor shelf life and wanted to find a good alternative. I am currently awaiting a reply from the seller (they have until the end of today).

My battery, when put on charge, takes just a few minutes before the orange light disappears. However it will not switch on unless the mains lead is connected to the wall. When on the home screen I can see the battery icon flip from being shown to being hidden. Clearly it's a battery issue - my other battery works fine for charging and using.

The link below shows the battery I purchased just in case anyone wants to know.

Good to know, thank you.

This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D4LP7E6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It seemed to have the highest percentage of decent reviews. I guess we'll see.

Alcohol wipes and vigorous but precise scrubbing on the joystick will remove the finger grim. I have a white PSPgo so it's far more noticeable.

If you've owned a older PSP or just needing a case here's one of those slider pouch ones, it doesn't come with that white strap but the case is nice and the strap is just generic.

https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Protector-Pouch-Strap-Compatible-N1000/dp/B00FBM631C

The cradle is only good at being a charger while playing on your TV. You will also need a PSP 1000-3000 charger and i don't think it comes with component cables and it's around $85-$100.

I checked my email history, I bought the battery in 2017 and it was called Fosmon LVL 6 Efficiency Replacement Battery for PSP 1000.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is for sale anymore for PSP on Amazon (though they do have 2000/3000), sorry :-(

I haven't had to buy a PSP battery since then so you will have to do a little homework but this one seemed to be the highest rated on Amazon for PSP 1000: https://www.amazon.com/SONY-PSP-1000-1001-capacity-Rechargeable/dp/B00D4LP7E6

I love my PSPs and so do my sons... I am going to be so upset if one day batteries for my 1000 and 3000 are no longer available.

u/ishavehomelesspeople · 3 pointsr/PSP

Usually the adapters for sdhc cards are too big for the psp. You need a pro duo adapter for the psp. If you have great, if not, I use this. It has 2 sdhc ports. I have 64gb of space on mine with 2 32gb sdhc cards.

Sony PSP System Pouch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8WPEE6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yaB6Cb7PFDHT8

I'd get something like that at the very least

I have one for each of my PSP'S and vita's
You could get a knock off for like a dollar at aliexpress

u/star_storm · 1 pointr/PSP

The stick itself doesnt seem wobbly only the plastic cover that you actually touch. this part:http://www.amazon.com/Analog-Joystick-Stick-Button-PSP-Sony/dp/B005IF00ZM i can lift the cap up a little bit or have it at an angle. Having it at an angle is what makes it catch. This PSP is as old as a psp 2000 can be. It was my friends before mine.

So decided to dig out my old psp slim and mess around with it again. I could not find any info online about using anything bigger than a 64GB MicroSD working at all so I figured id give 128GB card a go. If it didn't work then Id just have a new 128GB card to use in my Nintendo Switch.

I have a psp 2000 flashed to 6.60ME-1.6 (I have not even checked to see if there is a new CFW since this version)

Bought this microSD to memstick pro duo - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176F2RC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this microSD - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JYC4XM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used gparted in Linux (this is just what I run as my OS) to delete the exfat partition and recreated it as fat32.
I see no reason why disk management in windows (and what ever apple uses) as well to delete/recreate the partition as fat32.

Once I put the card into my PSP is said the card could not be used and needed to be formatted. so I let it format. Once it was done it reported all the correct free space. copied over all my iso and games run just fine. from me testing load times in GTA:VCS went from 26.56s to 31.41s on the new SD card. Also most psp takes a few more seconds to boot. but I suspect that's because I have 11x the number of games on the card. overall a few seconds added to load times is worth having over 120GB more space.

Edit: Ignore the date and time being way off in the picture. My original battery had swelled and so I took it out. I was just to lazy to keep setting it every time I plugged back in the charger. Thankfully the 1800mwh sony battery I used as a pandora battery(just found out you could turn it back into a normal battery. haha) looks fine and still holds a change (I used double sided tape to hold the bigger battery in place and got almost 6 hours in gta-lsc before it needed to be charged). just waiting on an extended cover so I can use it fully.

u/Wise2TheLies · 1 pointr/PSP

I have this memory card adapter with 32+64GB SD cards.

The regular charger and Sony battery that comes with the PSP should be good enough. Most batteries you find are aftermarket junk and lots of people have bad luck with them.

I also have one of these coming in the mail soon. It fits 2000 and 3000 models only.

I asked the same question a while back. no answer...

I was also looking at this one.

Let me know how it is if you get one?

I used to run 256 in a dual. I used this completely random and no longer available adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IIE1F22

Because the duals always fail, I switched to single slot adapters. And because 256gb took a tad too long to load, I dropped back to 128. If I were to run 256 again, I'd use a single slot.
