yeah, i think it's basically just your body saying "something's not quite right, get this out of me!" but if you do a little more research i'm sure there's a better explanation.

also, the taste can be... an experience. i would highly suggest getting a small coffee/spice grinder if you don't have anything similar already. that way you can turn them into a fine powder, take them all at once. they're usually a pain in the ass to chew, very tough and fibrous, and turning them into a powder will probably ease any digestion or gastrointestinal issues.

i usually kinda enjoy how strong they taste, but the last time i had some, you should've seen my face. like i was just eating the least enjoyable thing a person had ever put into their mouth, hah. they were the best ones i'd ever had, though. look up a "lemon shot" they're pretty good.

the first two links will give you more of a general overview of identification techniques and psychoactive mushrooms at large . the youtube playlist at the bottom depicts videos of the species that occur in massachusetts. the more research you do, the more confident you will be. especially considering this is your first hunt, make sure to clarify with experienced hunters reports online. please be extra careful my friend, and if you can’t find any locally i’m sure you can find other ways of obtaining the magic. cheers!

This was what I had. Maybe own it for novelty again but wouldn’t take any worthwhile lessons from it. Super outdated. You can download PDF versions of it free and check it out

Available on Amazon. The ereader versions pay the content creators nearly nothing so I suggest getting the physical book as the author gets the best royalty this way. Need the wonderful kind intelligent fungi evangelist Paul Stamets to get his. For this book there are two paperback types as the only formats.

Huxley's The Doors of Perception is a great read. So are the autobiographical sections of PiHKAL and TiHKAL by Alexander Shulgin. And back in my stoner days, I used to really enjoy reading books about neuroscience like Phantoms in the Brain by V S Ramachandran and discussing them while high.

What exactly are you asking for here?

Thanks, I think it looks neat, too.Yes I did. Was a heck load of holes to drill. Drilling alone took me more then 2 hours I think.

I worked with this tutorial from the shroomery and had «The Psilocybin Mushroom Bible» by Haze and Mandrake at hand.

The materials I used are a 46l plastic tub with lid, permanent marker, measure tape, scalpel, small cordless drill that fit inside the tub with the bit on, pilot drill bit 3.5mm, 6mm drill bit and a wooden board to drill on.

At first I roughly measured out the outer 4 holes of the grid based on the side I was drilling, so that the grid would be more or less centred. Then I piloted by drilling holes with the smaller bit that has a pilot pin on slow speed. Did all holes on one side first and then finished them with the bigger bit on full speed and used the scalpel to scrape the remains. With time I more and more eye balled it and stopped piloting. In the end I drilled all of them on full speed and only ripped the edges of one or two holes slightly.. If you're careful it works.

The plastic is a bit of a nightmare to work with. Had a go at a glovebox a few days ago and completely wrecked the plastic with the first cut -.-Bought a second tub when I got the one for the SGFC. May have a go at heating the plastic with the hot air gun before cutting it.

It's a great project!

edit: Holes are apart 5cm.

Here's my tea recipe:

-In a sauce pot, bring 14oz of water to a boil, turn off heat

-Steep green (or your choice of) tea for 5-7 mins, throw out tea bag

-Turn heat back to medium and add dry ground up mushrooms

-Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer making sure the material is moving around

-Boil for 12-15 minutes, occasionally scraping down the sides

-It's going to reduce a bit, so make sure you watch the pot and don't let it boil dry

-Strain through a fine mesh tea strainer or nut milk bag, discard mushroom material

-Add a few ice cubes to cool down

-Say a prayer, turn around 3 times clockwise while tapping your head and rubbing your belly, then down it (or just sit down and sip it while listening to some chill tunes)

Occasionally on high doses (7.5g+), I'll get some stomach pains. This is probably due to the fine powder I grind my mushrooms into, so a decent amount can get through the mesh. A bit of cannabis clears that right up. A 75 micron nut milk bag should be fine enough to catch most of it. Haven't tried it with finer mesh because this method works well for me.

I had to get agar at the Central Market...
It was a bit expensive, but it lasted me almost a year.

This is ideally what you want.

American Weigh Scale AWS-100... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012LOQUQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

$13 worth it. When MD, you shouldn't feel it though, 0.15g was good for me, 0.2g was too much. For MD, you need a scale. It's "micro dosing" you have to get down to the micros.... Lol...

Edit: spelling

Powder them in a coffee grinder to talc. Store in airtight glass. I use tiny measuring spoons. If you have a sensitive scale, see how much each weighs. Start with the smallest size. These are what I mean:

Pro-tip: Ditch popcorn if you can. It's bigger and has fewer innoculation points due to the surface area. Plus it is expensive in comparison to other grains.

I recommend these Oats with the hull on.

Hear me out on this process - it's easy as hell:

--Get a paint strainer (the thin mesh sack like material and place this into a large stock pot with the rim of the strainer stretched around the rim of the pot. Like a big net in the pot.

--Take 8 or 9 quarts of the oats right out of the jug and drop them into the paint strainer inside the pot. Fill with an adequate amount of water and then bring to a rolling boil for 30 minutes or so. Check doneness by squeezing an oat between your nails. If it crushes easily then it is done.

--Turn off heat - grab the lining of the paint strainer from around the pot and pull it all up to have a sack full of oats. Hang this over the sink (or set it in a colander) and let it steam dry for about an hour or so.

--Load your jars and PC for 90 minutes. 8.5ish dry quarts = about 10 Wide Mouth Jars worth of grain.

You could do two loads in a day if you needed. I've churned out 20 jars of spawn on a Sunday before with a single 23 q pressure cooker.

No rinsing. No 24 hour soak. No mess.
