I know I personally can keep going with PB because it's so low impact on the joints, but I honestly never considered that other people in my class might also need low impact exercise too! I think it depends on the studio...mine has a mix of fitness model types that look like they could do a handstand on their pinkys, and those that modify at least one section or more. The instructors are so awesome about helping everyone target the right muscles without the wrong kind of pain.

Those donuts are taller than I was picturing. They are stable? It is very cool that your studio offers them.

Not sure the details of the cause of your pain but one of my instructors wears ballet slippers with grips (sort of an oxymoron). Modifying your foot position and maybe how high your lift your heels may help too.
