If you, like me, come from the American Evangelical or Fundamentalist tradition, I recommend the book Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic by David Currie. He is very fair in his descriptions of Evangelical and Catholic teaching and is a great description of his journey which you may find yours mirroring.

I always tell people to start with Mark because it is the shortest and it was targeted at the gentiles. You should be able to read it fairly quickly and it will give you a good background to start working on the other gospels.

After that I would just do Matthew, Luke, and John in that order. If you have a study Bible, be sure to read the introductions before each book to get the background information.

Also, if you don't have one already, grab a copy of the Bible Compass. It is a quick read and will give you a good background on how Catholic approach the Bible.
