Xbox One White - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GW3H3U8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OmpXzb1HAH4RJ

The Xbox One controllers are pretty comfortable and they're plug and play with a micro usb so that's another win. Another option is if you have an old gamecube controller that isn't like, falling apart, an adapter is like 15 or so bucks. Personally I use a wireless 360 controller, but that's only because that's what I had when I started playing and I didn't think I needed a different controller. You could always take the path less traveled and play with keyboard, like Windows, who is a top player.

Hope this helps!

Hello, I just bought RoA and I've got the same results as this using the Mayflash adapter and this controller, but when I'm on any character select screen (versus mode, practice mode, etc..), the cursor slowly moves up automatically. Yet, when I use THIS controller, everything is perfectly fine. This leads me to believe the problem is with that first specific controller. Any thoughts or comments? I could keep using the black one, but I want to use the white one perfectly as well.

I'm afraid you're going to have a hard time with that one. I have never seen such a controller outside Nintendo. Sure, emulating an xbox controller to make a gcc work is annoying, but it's really the only option for playing with your desired joystick. Also, pretty sure only xbox controllers are gonna work for the vast majority of steam games without finding some kind of software workaround.

I have the 4 port mayflash controller adapter. I just switch it to Wii u when I use Dolphin, and to PC when I play RoA. Works fine.
Drivers can be annoying but it shouldn't be that hard to get set up.

Otherwise it's pretty much XBC, or something of lesser quality for the most part.

Take for instance, this probably cheap, crappy, USB GCC knockoff http://www.amazon.com/Retro-GameCube-Style-Wired-Controller-Pc/dp/B00HS7LJ2G

You are going to want your composite video to be the output on the converter and have the HDMI be the input. Normally it's the other way around with someone trying to take an old device and bring it over to HDMI.

This one looks like a safe bet. https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-3RCA-CVBS-Converter-Supporting/dp/B071XV22B7/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1502418200&sr=8-8&keywords=hdmi+to+composite+video#Ask

You may want to bring up an old manual for that CRT. I'm sure you can find one online somewhere and make sure that the converter box will output a signal that the TV will accept.

Haha I am not sure about how you would mod your wii. I have been able to play the in-development build of Rivals with a GC controller by using this adapter though.

Still on a PC. You could likely then output to a CRT using something like this:

Lots of effort but possible :)

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/SNES-Controller-Adapter-USB-Super-NES/dp/B002IXZ5DE

Never thought to use it with RoA, but it works pretty well with Joy2Key in order to map the buttons to keyboard inputs.

Hi!
Use a 3rd party GC adapter( http://www.amazon.com/Gamecube-Controller-Adapter-Wii-U-Nintendo/dp/B00TVEXFG2/ref=sr_1_33?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1465110395&sr=1-33&keywords=gamecube+adapter ) and used Zadig to get it to run for dolphin. JoyStick data: 0 detected is the only response I get off the controller detecting application.

Surprised no one else has requested this but basically is not detected at all by rivals or your app so......ya..hope u can help me out :3

Xbox one is the most popular control choice, followed by gamecube. One thing I will say if you plan on getting a gamecube controller, buy an official controller! Anything unofficial has a very high chance of having wonky deadzones, and in general just isn't worth the risk.

I’ve been using this Xbox 1 controller for close to a month and honestly, I’d recommend it. Though peeps have their own opinions about off brand controllers

Mmkay, I don't see one for my particular adapter and controller combo so here we go. Let me know if there's any additional information needed.

Driver is AMD's Radeon Crimson 16.5.3. It's non-WHQL, but AMD drivers are usually pretty bug-free.

My monitor is an ASUS VS239H-P.

http://www.amazon.com/Rivals-of-Aether-Orcane-Plush/dp/B01BWJL1GO Here you go m8, it's a huge really high quality plush and it comes with a Gold Orcane skin code.

u/67kingdedede · 1 pointr/RivalsOfAether

If you're willing to splurge on a wired xbox one controller, they're great for Rivals, as well as having native Win10 support. No drivers, no setup, just plug and play. It's what I use for my PC games and it takes a bit to recognize the A/B X/Y swap but in the end, Rivals' controls are changeable and it's just a layout. I use this one that can be found for even less on eBay

u/Etalus · 7 pointsr/RivalsOfAether

It sounds like you are looking for a fightstick.

u/The_American_Robin · 1 pointr/RivalsOfAether

Here's the link!
Also if you wanna hit me up with the Golden Orcane code you get with it that would be nice :)
Too bad I missed this code giveaway. But life goes on right?

Although Xbox controllers are certainly 'plug-and-play' (as you might expect, since Microsoft owns both Xbox and Windows), if you get the Mayflash 4-port Gamecube adapter, Gamecube controllers will also require no setup. The official Wii U adapter also works, but I think you have to install some drivers first (which is still really easy).

u/JohnsBonesJones · 4 pointsr/RivalsOfAether

I assume you're talking about a Gamecube controller, in which case this is what you're looking for.

u/I_Object_Your_Honour · 1 pointr/RivalsOfAether

I start it before, then load the game. Try both modes of input if you can't get it working.
I personally use a Mayflash adapter, so I have a dedicated PC Mode on the adapter. I'd suggest using that if you can't get it working at all.

I don't know about the best controller but this Chinese one is my favorite because it's cheap as hell https://www.amazon.com/Wired-Gaming-Controller-PlayStation-Android/dp/B01GDKXMPA
