While You Were Sleeping used to be my fav movie, but as i age, it kinda sets me off more. But the dude stuck in the closet trying on her shoes still makes me laugh my ass off.

This week was mostly M/M, so if it ain't your thing, skip a few!

I've read Winter Spirit, which was kind of adorable. M/M novella set in Michigan with a paranormal element. Not normally a ghost story person, but this might've gotten me hooked. 4/5

Love Roan Parrish but Natural Enemies was a little meh. M/M short with a strong botanical theme, which i luurrvve, but the characters didn't feel like they had real chemistry. 3/5

Alexis Hall is my new best friend. His writing is just... ugh. Like a cup of hot cider on a cold day. Listened to the audio of both Glitterland and Waiting for the Flood. Beautiful books, fantastic narration. Darian's accent and slang cracked me up, but he was such a marshmallow i want to be his friend. Glitterland is: bipolar misanthropic educated asshole falls for a tanned, goofy model who is shallow on the outside but is genuine lovely human. Waiting for the Flood is a quiet short story with two shy lovely men in middle England finding love during a weather disaster.

Currently reading A Change in Tide cause i'm 41 and kinda needed something in my age range. M/F set in Canada, heroine is dealing with PTSD and became a hermit, hero is retired hockey star with the tired 'former player' trope. So far the writing is ok, sexual tension is high, but i feel there's too much introspection and not enough action. Not sure if will finish.

I tried it, you guys. I genuinely tried a shapeshifter novel. Nalini Singh's psy-changeling series. DNF. I know it's a popular series but it feels too misogynistic for me, anyone else?

Tried Politically Incorrect also, DNF cause it felt like too much wish fulfillment. Also wound up reading the Goodreads reviews partway thru (does anyone else do that? sort of a "should i bother with this?" last ditch effort) and some freaking illiterate review that was NOT marked as a spoiler gave away a MAJOR spoiler which happens to be a hated trope, so i abandoned it. Boo, cause it seemed so promising.

Great topic! I’ve wanted to make one about this !

I’ve been buying ebooks on the iBookstore since almost the beginning of my foray into romance so I kind of just stuck with that.

I haven’t really tried kindle or overdrive even though they seem great, idk why 😂

Other than that, if it’s not a romance novel, I almost always read hard copy.

But never under any circumstances have I bought an actual hard copy romance. (Yeah, I’m one of those utterly stupid women who wouldn’t be caught dead reading a romance)

I still find it extremely bummy that I have to read my romances in ebook form instead of in the form that I enjoy the most, hard copy. I think I might have actually liked some romances which didn’t like at the time of reading if I had just read it in paperback.

But some upsides to having my romances as ebooks (apart from people not knowing what you’re reading) is that you can resume reading for a few minutes, anytime anywhere. Whenever I’m waiting around like on line at the coffee shop for example, I can open up my iBooks app on my phone.

Audiobooks, NO NO NO NO NO.

And to be fair, I’ve tried so many. I still try audiobook excerpts thinking that I might find one that I like.

It really sucks because I could be saving so much time by listening to audiobooks instead of sitting down and reading.

I just can’t focus on them. I find myself constantly spacing out and then rewinding.

A big reason why I can’t do audiobooks (apart from other reasons) is because I can’t stand female narrators, and since most of romance narrators are female, that makes me super cranky when listening 😂. I find that I‘m ok enough with male narrators that I can get through the story.

At first I thought it was because audiobooks weren’t my thing. But after many trials and errors, I’ve found that if anything, I have to be more interested in the narrator’s voice and the way he/she is narrating than the actual story to be captured by the audiobook. That pretty much never happens. (This might be the case for other audiobook haters as well).

However, I’ve found ONE narrator who does this for me. She happens to be female, oh the irony! Susan Lyons (narrator of The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.

I find myself SO ENTRANCED by her smexy raspy, elegant, deep-voiced narrations. 😂

She hasn’t narrated any other book I’d be remotely interested in, and I’ve yet to find another narrator that I adore this much (though I keep trying.) So that’s why I’m preciously saving this book up for when my sister has her “exercise phases” and drags me along on 2-4 hour long walks. (I listen sparingly during these walks, trying to save up this audiobook as best as I can.)

Wow. An opportunity, and I feel nervous about messing it up. :D

I am going to pitch Welcome to Temptation, by Jennifer Crusie. It's the story of a woman (Sophie) and her sister who travel to the town of Temptation to help their brother's ex-girlfriend make a movie, which ends up being a porn movie, which invites some pushback from some of the townspeople, including the mayor, with whom she falls in love.
Why read it? Well, Sophie comes from a family of con men/women, so there is a lot of clever behavior/interaction with townspeople. Sophie loves old lines from classic films. Sophie is the one who writes the script for the porn movie, kind of based on her own sexual awakening. But it's all very funny. There's a murder, but even that is humorously handled.
Thematically, it addresses the idea of small towns as inherently conservative; Sophie;s arrival is a bit of a catalyst for change. About the sex scenes: in a good romance, the sex scenes are part of character development, and this is a good romance.
If you like Dove Bars and Dusty Springfield, you will like this book! :D
Available on Kindle!

Hi! May I suggest my novel? It's being among the official Nominees for the next Saturday Visiter Awards which will take place next month part of the Edgar Allan Poe International Festival. It's a gothic novel where the main theme is love and what one is willing to do for their own dream love. This is the link if you feel like having a look! May be something you can enjoy. Thanks! All the best, James

Is his love her safe place to land…or just smoke and mirrors?

Grace Owens danced her feet bloody to become the finest en pointe prodigy of her generation, but the only accolade she longed for—her father’s approval—never came. Finally, broken and defeated, she cut ties and fled to London to live life on her own terms.

Now, after four years as an actress in London’s smaller theatres, a last-minute production change lands her right where she never wanted to be again. Front and center in the ballet—and back in toe shoes.

From his perch on the catwalks, machinist and stagecraft illusionist Isaac Caird can’t take his eyes off Grace. A woman who wears men’s clothing, but not as a disguise. An exquisite beauty who doesn’t keep a lover. A skilled dancer who clearly hates every pirouette.

The perfect lines of her delicate body inspire him to create a new illusion—with her as the centerpiece—that will guarantee sold-out shows. Maybe even attract a royal’s patronage. But first he has to get her to look at him. And convince her the danger is minimal—especially within the circle of his arms.

Featuring a gender-fluid ballet dancer, an amateur chemist who only occasionally starts fires, and an old rivalry that could tear them apart.

Hi, everyone! I've got a new historical romance out, currently available on Amazon for $3.99 (or free for Kindle Unlimited readers). The length is approximately 100,000 words. If historical romance is your jam, I hope you will give me a shot!

His Favorite Mistake

Summary: James Bradford, Duke of Rushton, is a man obsessed with revenge. When his sister’s lover, the Earl of Westwood, refuses to wed her to save her from disgrace and give her child a name, he latches onto a nefarious scheme of his own: an eye for an eye. Or, more appropriately, a sister’s dishonor for a sister’s dishonor.

Lady Jillian Kittridge has been crossed in love before, with absolutely no inclination to set herself up for disaster yet again. At twenty-two, she is very nearly on the shelf and is simply awaiting the day that the funds set aside for her dowry will fall under her control. But when the handsome Duke of Rushton begins to court her, she finds herself unwillingly tempted.

The fact that James finds himself actually liking Jillian is an unwelcome complication. As his scheme draws ever closer to fruition, he wonders: Can he truly destroy the life of an innocent woman, a woman he admires and respects? Or has he been caught in his own trap?

It comes with a preview of my third novel, His Reluctant Lady, due out in January 2020!

If you enjoy paranormal romances, I think you'll love Lauren Sweet's genie hero Jasper. He is a sarcastic, sexy prankster. :)

I really like Caitlyn Lynch’s “Ranger Heat ” series. It’s available on Amazon, and the Dom is NOT an asshole, I promise!

And...at the risk of self-promotion, my “Kinky Geeks ” series doesn’t have any asshole Doms either...just sexy, insatiable geeks getting kinky with each other in the bedroom 😉

Either way, I HIGHLY recommend Caitlyn Lynch! 😘

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I released a novel called 'Maxed Out' where a domineering and controlling man and a feminist, domineering woman fall in love

Another great Mary Balogh book set during the Napoleonic wars (specifically Waterloo) is Web of Love the second book in the Dell Historical Romance series.

Also, Pamela Clare's MacKinnon's Rangers series, which takes place during the French Indian war. Despite the corny looking covers, which put me off for a long time, they're actually quite good if you like historicals.

Pardon the Amazon links, I was too lazy to look the up on GR

What Sara Said by ML Carrington... it's a second-chance love story.

I devoured all four books in Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series in the past 4 days. The first is currently free on Amazon! It’s a series about 4 different couples that all center around a hockey team at a fictional Northeast US college. Every book gets steamy and has several scenes throughout.

Rising Uphill

“Right from the start, this book grabs the attention of the reader and doesn't stop until the unexpected ending. There are lots of twists and turns along the way, with great characters, hot sex, and a mystery to boot! If you are looking for a page turner, this is it!”

Synopsis:
After surviving wrenching heartbreak, Melina Rose’s life as she knew it was forever changed. No longer was she living the life of the perfect family that she had carefully crafted – attentive mother, dutiful wife and successful executive. Melina now walked through her days with an emptiness that she never thought could be filled – until she has a chance encounter with a very sexy stranger.
Thinking she had a onetime fantasy come-to-life, Melina’s world is rocked when Lucas Hart, a gorgeous consultant, makes her his next project to conquer. A man who doesn’t take no for answer, Lucas pursues Melina and breaks through her defenses to make her feel things she didn’t know she could ever again.
But things get troublesome when a secret from Lucas’ past catches up to him and Melina’s ex-husband, Jack, decides he wants her back. Melina is torn between her two worlds, and as she struggles to decide what she wants, she finds her life in danger from an unknown threat. Melina must choose between an exciting, yet complicated and uncertain, future with Lucas or the security and familiarity of her past with Jack, all while trying to determine who is out to harm her and why.

Bought: a bad boy romance

http://www.amazon.com/Bought-bad-romance-Danielle-Slater-ebook/dp/B01CXBRJ3E

You can read the blurb on its Amazon page but I will make it shorter for you: Lara Everwood is set out to take revenge on Theo Lambert, a billionaire who's about to destroy her father's company in a hostile takeover. Under a fake identity, she applies for a job as his assistant... but when she gets it, she realizes she can't feel just hatred for that man. He's so attractive in a dangerous way, with his power games and bad boy tactics, that she finds it hard to concentrate on her quest. She wants to find the heart of gold under the layers of wealthy jerk. On the other hand, he is about to discover who she really is!

Warning: There are a couple of steamy scenes, for those of you who may want to avoid that kind of thing.
