I had no "real" experience with programming before working through this, but I feel like I am picking up all the concepts in the book pretty easily. Was the class just weekly work, or is there an overarching project with milestones like most of the other IT classes?
I recently took the class and found a DSLR camera for an okay price. Much cheaper than others. The only thing this camera doesn't have is the ability to change lenses (which would have been handy for some assignments), but I got out of that class with an A. I wouldn't suggest a smartphone. You can use a mirrorless camera or a DSLR. I will include the link to the camera I got below. I was on a very tight budget and it hurt my bank account badly when even spending the money to get this camera. I think the reason they suggest not using a smartphone is that some of the stuff you have to do in this class cannot be done with a smartphone very well (strong aperture for example.) and also because smartphones often do not format the photos in the right dimensions which makes your life harder.
