I have several decks that I'm eyeing right now!

The one that intrigues me the most is the Mystic Mondays tarot. I love the color palette and its aesthetic.

After that I'm looking at the Victorian tarot, because this falls right in with my fascination with the Victorian era, which was this great mix of propriety and religious leanings, but behind closed doors how everyone was just obsessed with the occult.

And I also love the Golden Tarot.

And though the imagery on these isn't fully conforming to RWS, I love, love, love the attitude of the Housewives' tarot.

Of course, my birthday is in a week, and I'm on a buying moratorium until after that. So I'm currently in a holding pattern on new purchases for myself!

As someone who walks the line of a secular and mystical approach, my short answer is - it depends on how deeply someone has fallen down the well of new age belief in the cards. There is a lot to gain from differing perspectives and understanding the depth of ritual and spiritual fulfillment that can come from using tarot. Someone with a secular belief system in turn can gain challenging insight that forces the questions 'why are so many people drawn to using tarot in this way?' 'are they able to use it as a tool for spiritual exploration whilst staying grounded and in control?'

Unfortunately the answer to the latter is many times no. I have been completely dismayed with how often I see people wanting concrete answers from tarot or other forms of divination (just check /r/psychic). It's really upsetting to me because I believe the messages we receive and can explore through tarot have a synchronistic beauty and yet are not meant to lay out some hard-lined truths for what is to come. Interestingly, while reading 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack, she references Arthur Waite's thoughts on using tarot for divinatory purposes - "The allocation of a fortune-telling aspect to these cards is the story of a prolonged impertinence." One of the most infamous occult groups who produced the teachings that led to A.E. Waite creating his deck takes a firm stance on using the cards in this way. The system has a depth of spiritual power, just as practicing yoga or buddhist meditation or other lineages does. A channel for which to go deeper within oneself and explore what it means to be human and how we can push our consciousness to new levels.

Those who are blindly following occult practices without understanding how they should be used are likely to provide little valuable insight. They are often looking for easy answers and for some greater power to fix things in their life. On the other hand, trying to piece apart why scores of people seem to be drawn to this type of thinking is an interesting psychological exercise in and of itself.

I want the Oliver Hilbert Tarot so bad! I personally love the UUSI Pagan Otherwords deck and the Spolia Tarot deck. The Luna Sol deck is really great too, very relaxing to use.

Wow that deck looks pretty groovy! Might I ask if you're also into psychedelic experiences?

I actually got into tarot because the art in the [Ethereal Visions](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ethereal-Visions-Illuminated-Tarot-Deck/dp/1572819251
) deck is so beautiful.

I have also ordered but haven't yet received the Tattoo Tarot deck because American Traditional tattoo flash is one of my very favorite art styles.
