I would recommend one of these and one of these.

The first item is a standard GC controller complete with the normal cable. They've been re-released for Ultimate, so they have the benefits of being the real deal while being sold new for a good price. The second item is a wireless GC adapter, so you can use the normal GC controller anywhere.

The PowerA wireless controller would also be a good bet, but depending on his familiarity with the original GC controllers it may be too different for him to use comfortably.

PDP is the best USB GC controller for the money imo.

Has a lot of different skins, they all look good. I went with Peach cause its pink and obnoxious looking.

If you want a Wireless one I think the PowerA is your best bet. A bit more expensive tho.

Yes, but I just googled a bit.
It seems like the Nintendo Switch supports USB Hubs, meaning you could just buy any USB hub and if it doesn't work you could always send it back. Just do it through Amazon.

Funny thing I played a Fatal fury collection on ps2 and fell in love with it when I was a wee lad! It was my first fighter (PS hoping for duck king colors for terry)

Edit: Found it! https://www.amazon.com/Fatal-Fury-Battle-Archives-Vol-2/dp/B0012RCNVO

You can use this one for example, it's the one I use and I've never had any problems with it.

Maybe you mean an entire dock though? The panda global one is supposed to be good

I would recommend the PowerA Gamecube controller.

It's wireless, so you don't need an adapter and, unlike actual GC controllers, it can wake up the Switch from sleep.

It feels just like an actual GC controller, except it's a little bit lighter (which doesn't discomfort my medium-sized hands at all).

The other complaint that people have with it is that the L and R buttons are not analog; meaning that the button press only registers when the buttons are fully depressed. Personally... this doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might.

Not requiring an adapter and being able to wake the Switch from sleep mode are such nice features to have. I didn't appreciate them until I got this controller.

That one does not work. I bought that for my switch and you need to upload the firmware from the CD for it to work, and there is no way to do that on the Switch. I’d recommend you just get the Nintendo licensed one

this one, from my experience

This or this unofficial one can get you connected through an Ethernet connection.

Guess I’m gonna have to get one of these

I'm not saying you should do this. I'm saying you might have an option you weren't aware of.

Yeah all the left sticks are the same, the one in the middle just has the rubber grip from a ps2 controller on it. They're aluminum alloy ps4 sticks, they don't have the notch that's on the gamecube stick box, so you have to use a lot of force to get them on, and I dunno if a regular stick would fit on the box again, but DAMN they work amazingly well, and they're virtually indestructible. Here's a link-

Also, I was worried about slipping my thumb off because it's metal, but hasn't been a problem, and if it is, just butcher a ps2 controller

It's not a roller, it's a stick. This is it.

Definitely the most effective thing I use to combat the brutal Japanese summers. That and Gatsby Ice Citrus wipes.

HORI Nintendo Switch Battle Pad (Zelda) GameCube Style Controller - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AD478L6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_o.O6Cb4NJJNDN

A few of the reviews complain about the pebbled grip, which I actually like because it doesn’t slip in your hands if you get sweaty. It also does not have rumble, which did not particularly bother me.

u/GamingLime123 · 0 pointsr/SmashBrosUltimate

You’re right, but I’m talking about this

EDIT: accidentally linked to amazon.ca here’s the American link

There is actually a Pikachu themed GC Switch controller that is on the market.

If you match the controller theme and the fighter, Pikachu gets a rare candy..

And you'll at least look good while I send your pitiful rodent back to the Pokémon Center where it belongs.
Don't be careful tho, tears make you both water-type.

u/portalsammy · 2 pointsr/SmashBrosUltimate

I'm not sure, but if there aren't you should check out the Mayflash 4 port adapter. It is known for having no input delay and works the same as the official one. I use one and can vouch for it, check it out here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RSXRLUE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dWTBCbSRB37J8

> Fact remains that Nintendo released a game that cannot perform well on a wifi connection without offering players a way to hardwire their ethernet

Except they did. Would I have rather them have it built in? Hell yes. Nintendo really fucked up, in my opinion, and doesn’t seem to view online play as a real priority. But that’s also why it costs like two BigMacs a year. And I got to say, you must not play many games if you truly believe that they should all perform perfectly on WiFi.

> I like this game but you fanboys are insufferable.

I’m not sure what one has to do with the other nor why one would impact the other. You go out of your way to express your opinion on the internet and then blame “fanboys” and whine when people have opposing views. Also, having to explain why a game sucks on WiFi does not make me a fanboy but the fact that you had to put it out there solely as a backhanded insult is hilarious.
