I picked up the original xbox version of it for $2 from a gamestop a couple years back. Original xbox and 360s will be relateively cheap soon so if you're really interested in playing it I'd suggest looking into this. There's also the HD re-release trilogy ps3 exclusive that I'm hoping will be available for download via the marketplace once ps4 comes out. It's not quite the same playing it on console but it is still fun. They also only have check point saves so it kind of makes the game just a bit more challenging as a result.
There are bonus disks floating around, both for Splinter Cell and for other Tom Clancy games that feature the SC bonus missions.

Not sure how similar it is to splinter cell in a stealth sense, but I always adored Rogue Trooper
I THINK it's any newer machine, as it's a hardware incompatibility. There might be unofficial patches out there, but I'm not aware of anything official from Ubisoft. You can try ordering a physical copy from Amazon to see if it will work!
