Yea it sure was stressful trying to make the right choice. I have pages and pages of notebook paper with option/cost comparisons, review notes, my own thoughts etc. It looked like a crazy person trying to shop or something lol.

Read the instructions and watch/follow the installation video on their site. The video was a lot more helpful than the instruction manual. Setup is pretty easy but be sure to listen when they say how to tighten your bolts. A lot of them you will start the thread on 4 screws then tighten them down in a rotating cross-pattern like you would do with car lug nuts or when tuning a drum head. Make sure when you do tighten the screws they are snug.

Per the recommendation of some, I also used a Blue Medium strength Oil tolerant
Non-Permanent thread locker on all the machine bolts. I used Vibra-tite 122 since it was the cheapest of the 3 big brands. Looks like it out of stock on Amazon but Loctite and Permatex both make a version as well. Loctite is #243 found here. I got the Oil and material insensitive types because the bolts do come with a slight oil and I was unsure of the exact metal makeup. I let the desk sit for about 4 hours after I finished building to let the threadlocker cure some. The full cure time is 24hrs. The result is an extremely stable desk while sitting and standing alike. Even trying to push on it at 43inch height and it is hard to get it rocking. Definitely doesn't even come close to messing with your work.

O I understand the space issue. 72in is really my max and it fits just perfect in my office. There is a clearance 48in maple laminate top still available that will save you ~$50 or so.

No problem at all and I'm happy to answer any questions you have. I know how hard it is to find some good info on these things and it is a huge investment. Hope you enjoy the desk. I know I sure am! :D

I wanted to share a couple pictures of the desk set up and also some of the accessories I purchased. My expirience with Fully was great. I got the Jarvis3 with Walnut veneer in a72x60 size. The frame was delivered about 3 days later and the desk top about a week after purchase. The quality is everything I expected! This thing is heavy and stable at all heights. I love this desk!

Accessories
I decided to get the keyboard tray and accessories from Amazon. The keyboard tray is probably going back because it is difficult to move back and forth.

Bankers boxes are incredibly useful.

I plan to get something better to hold my laptop eventually. But the lid on the box holding my monitor was slooowly beginning to cave, so getting a monitor stand was priority #1.

If you're curious, this is the end table I'm using as a monitor stand. It happened to be the perfect height for me.

Not as swanky as one of those $1000 adjustable height desks. But it works for me.

I went with one similar to this one from Vivo. The brand I chose is not available, but it looks like one of the two is a rebranding of the other.

I thought about spending a little more on one that slid out in addition to rotating. Honestly though, since mounting it and running the cables I haven't messed with it much at all. The rotating function has given me the access to the back of the machine on the few occasions I've needed it over the last ~6 months.

Just be sure of the location before screwing it down. Make sure you can rotate it from the location where the base is mounted.

Buying one of these through the standing desk makers is going to severely add to the cost that's really not needed.

That coupon expired..

But I use this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTFWW3D/ref=twister_B06W2M813G?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and have been happy with it. You just have to get a top but given all the discussion here about tops it's not that hard, especially if you live close to an Ikea.

Not sure what your budget is but you can buy standing desk frames. The frames allow you to install your own table top. Take a look at:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MR5YA2?psc=1

Like i said, it will depend on budget but this is one option.

I have a 34” wide screen mounted to my standing desk, and I use a dual monitor gas shock articulating arm system (the other monitor is a vertical 27”)

The main issue I see with it is that the monitor is so wide that it’s hard to keep it perfectly straight, it has a weird “center of balance” which makes it rotate on the mount very easily, I can only imagine this would be even more pronounced for you.

Id probably recommend a single monitor mount for you.

This is the standard one;

VIVO Single LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Fully Adjustable/Tilt/Articulating for 1 Screen 13" to 27" (STAND-V001) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fudoDbWEGEV6Q

This is the articulating one, which may give you rotation issues (although maybe it’s just me).

VIVO Height Adjustable Single Monitor Arm, Fully Articulating Counterbalance Pneumatic Desk Mount | Universal VESA Stand for Screens up to 27 inches (STAND-V001O) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NH0HTM5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_qvdoDbEBCE68Y

Sure thing. I use this when I'm soldering or doing general keyboard assembly.

Kaisi Heat Insulation Silicone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DGTJ463

I use this if I'm cutting something, like with an exacto/utility knife.

Fiskars Crafts 95237097J Rotary... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000B7K9UI

I really like both.

Is this the holder you were looking at? I have a SmartDesk 1 and I drilled this into the back-right side and it works perfectly. If you PM me, I will send you a picture of it when I get home from work.

Here's the link to the actual product page on Amazon without the affiliate link. Here's the direct link to Amazon with OPs affiliate link but skipping the Twitter nonsense.

Also, here's the Camelcamelcamel link, showing this is normally $70, so this is actually a great deal.

I wish I saw this sooner. I got both that desk i mentioned and the autonomous one. While the monoprice desk is a little different, the desk you linked me has the same parts as the autonomous desk.

I've been using the Safco chair with arms to pretty good effect. It's not the most comfortable chair in the world, but I consider that a pro because it motivates you to stand up after a decent amount of time.

u/MrPap · 1 pointr/StandingDesk

using this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FOTABWY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the pole to the right near where one of the under desk frame pieces makes a T.

I then switched the monitor and laptop arms, so the monitor is in the center of the desk with the long arm.

Don't get too comfy a chair for sitting at standing height. I did that at work and now I end up sitting 100% of the time instead of using it for breaks. I'm considering a wooden stool for my home setup:
https://www.amazon.com/29-Inch-Barstool-With-Round-Seat/dp/B0048V7FGO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1496884988&sr=8-7&keywords=wooden+stool

u/Ternpike · 1 pointr/StandingDesk

Yea. Sadly I started getting into the same indecision pit as the desk so I went ahead and got the first thing that looked like it would work. I was concerned the fully articulating ones would wobble more and didn't want to sink the cost into something that frustrated me.
