Don't park in the hotels themselves. $60-$70 per NIGHT. I used ParkWhiz to get <$40 parking all week at a garage 2 miles NW of my hotel (I'm at Magnificent Mile). Uber to hotel once each way for luggage. Use a public transit weekly pass for $30/pp to get to the con and anywhere else. Huge savings right there.

And to answer your main question, like someone else said...save ALL of the money lol. I'm budgeting so hard for this, and all the little things add up (including travel costs). Surprisingly a big one is food for my wife and I. You'd be shocked at how fast that adds up, if you at least want to enjoy a few good culinary treats in the area. I have $400 put aside for guests (which I know is not enough haha), $500 for general spending (still not enough) and $600 for food (is this even enough? *sweats and panics*). Hopefully will have more before then, but its good to have solid numbers when approaching this to keep you from going on a spending spree outside the budget (which is super easy to do at Celebration).

Really decide the types of things you want and focus on that. Funko pops (should you win their lottery)? Artwork? Figures? There's a ton of things to buy. Pick your battles. Also on the last day, most vendors will haggle prices with you so they don't have to lug a bunch of stuff home from the con. The tradeoff is that you might miss out on something you really wanted by that time. The nice thing is with the preview day on Thursday, you can get your 'official store' merch and then work with your remaining budget the rest of the con.

One thing that I've heard helps with budgeting is setting aside X amount of dollars per day for spending. Use cash if you can. Last Celebration there was a huge influx of people who had their card #'s stolen due to RFID scanners. If you need to use credit/debit, get a RFID wallet just for this.

Sorry for the novel. I'm just pumped that we're getting closer to this. Less than 2 months!

PS - Get one of these for the line waiting. Best investment ever. https://www.amazon.com/Sportneer-Portable-Lightweight-Folding-Backpacking/dp/B01ID8UHRQ/ref=cm\_cr\_arp\_d\_product\_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

How many and what days are you going for? All 5 days. Arriving mid-afternoon on Wednesday, leaving Tuesday.

What hotel are you staying in? There's three of us sharing an AirBNB about 5 minute drive/20 minute walk from the convention center. Ideally that should shave some food costs as well as we'll be able to buy food and make it there.

Where are you travelling from? Ottawa, Canada!

Who are you going with? When we heard it was in Chicago, I emailed two of my buddies with the subject "This is crazy to plan to go to... right?" They both responded with an emphatic "IN!"

What main things are you planning on seeing/doing at Celebration? No idea. Its my first celebration, so I'm trying to be realistic. Reading up on overnight lines makes me think I'll only do that once. Would love to get to meet/greet Dave Filoni or Pablo Hidalgo for autograph/pics, but I don't know if they do that. I would hope that Timothy Zahn is there for the new Thrawn book, so I'd love to get a book signed by him. Depending on who's coming getting either Jason Aaron or Kieron Gillen to sign my copy of Vader Down would be a dream. If Jason Aaron is there I'll likely bring a few other comics for him to sign.

What are your Star Wars interests? I try to consume everything that is canon, but that's getting harder and harder. Movies (of course), TV shows, comics, novels, even LEGO stuff like Freemaker which I get to watch with my kids. I have to beg my son sometimes to let me read him Chewie and The Porgs.

Any questions about Celebration you need answering before going? Only one I'm curious about is how you know if there are overnight lines or not. Is it obvious? As in, if its an 11AM panel that is for something high profile, there will be an overnight line? And how hard is it to get into things like the Del Rey panel or any of Filoni's panels?

We were always in line but we could get up to walk around/use the restroom/ buy food etc. Technically we could mingle if you had someone holding your spot but everyone wanted to try their best to sleep.

When 7 am hit they let us put stuff in the car but I think they also gave us the choice to leave our stuff there till after the panel since that space wasn't being used for anything else. My girlfriend held our spot and they probably gave us a bracelet or something so they knew you were in there.

We're we're well within being able to see the cast without the screens or anything.

I think this year is the same company running it but the venue is different and bigger. You might not need to wait AS early but I have nothing planned that day so I'll probably be in line by 3 pm.

I suggest one of those regular sized beach chairs that also folds all the way back into a flat surface (like this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BFM9TJU/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1487921060&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=fold+back+beach+chair

I would be using it again this time but I'm flying in from California.

At D23 the same year at the same venue we couldn't have anything bigger than my chair though so i don't know.

I just got this (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XIMM6VS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) yesterday, and it fits the Key Art poster like a glove. Also, the companies website has all kinds of weird size frames. /u/hombreJirafa

I am looking for a size small key art shirt.

I can trade a copy of the Shadows of the Empire omnibus and Thinkgeek exclusive Jabba & Salacious Crumb pin which can only be obtained with purchase of $50+ of merch on their site.

Or, I could just PayPal you some cash.

For $6 you can get a death star that lights up. The Celebration one does not, as far as I know. I have the light up one, and love it. They also have a massive one for $20.
