Thank you all for your help! It really has helped.
I've been able to keep comfortably smart, considering my tight budget.

Bon Marché has been my best bet for affordable plus sized clothing, and I've just discovered Simply Be, which seems to be a nice contender.

As far as shoes go, I got a pair of low booties from Asda, which are surprisingly comfortable, cheap and cute. Also, I've been to Deichmann, who sells very smart, comfortable shoes of all sorts, heights and sizes, for extremely reasonable prices.

One last question, just for the sake of it: what's the opinion on espadrilles (like these Havaianas Unisex-Adult Origine III Sneakers Espadrilles, (Navy Blue/Beige), 7 UK (42 EU (40 Brazilian)) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01L41BVUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_q674Cb2M8SR52)?.

Thanks again!

The 'Official' (Lister) textbooks for (AQA) A-Level chemistry are not the best, I find them riddled with errors.

PMT has the notes arranged by topic + collated exam questions (and mark schemes) for each one.

I've been using Jim Clark's book for 10 years to help kids (and lots of worked examples)

SciSheets (for £10/year) is amazing value, lots of notes, and thousands of questions and mark schemes, arranged by spec area.

Something you haven't mentioned, but you may want to think about, is the practical endorsement. You have to complete 12 practical activities, at a registered centre, to get the endorsement. Not sure how it would work with you already having a degree and A-Levels (they had ISAs and EMPAs 6 years ago) but you may struggle without it.

You can learn chemistry and switch examining boards, I've only taught AQA and Salters (a very long time ago). There are some variations in workings of definitions and specification points, so I would personally choose one and stick with it. Exams are largely all around the same date anyway.

Good luck!

Geoff Petty has 26 or so pages - a chapter - on classroom management. In fact, the chapter is called classroom management:

-->https://www.amazon.co.uk/Teaching-Today-Practical-Guide-Geoff/dp/1408523140/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1511295144&sr=8-4&keywords=geoff+petty+teaching+today

that's a great read and very accessible. Also has a chapter on motivation.

The two following books are less accessible because they work on the premise of presenting use cases and using reflection to establish the cause and action plan to help the problem at hand (the first book deals with motivation);

Edit: Petty also has a chapter on discipline.

Some good advice from /u/IAmPixel above. Also, follow #mfltwitterati on Twitter, and read up on some blogs posted there.

I've only read bits, but Steve Smith and Gianfranco Conti's Language Teacher Toolkit seems very sound, and will be my summer reading.

I can recommend "Getting the Buggers to Behave" as a sound basic primer on classroom management as well.

This is one I used a few years running because I particularly liked it

A genuinely useful and real-worldbook to try is this: Getting the Buggers to Behave by Sue Cowley.

Getting the Buggers to Behave https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1472909216/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IagyCb7JA10E6

I would recommend the Cgp text books for maths like this one:
KS3 Maths Textbook 2 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1782941614/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-olEzb92THEFF

They do three levels of difficulty- purple is the hardest.

Lots of practice questions, but not too many examples.

As an NQT last year I used this one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silvine-Teachers-Academic-Wirebound-Planner/dp/B01D4YLKLG/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_rp_c_0_3/261-9150942-0058237?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01D4YLKLG&pd_rd_r=8757ea09-72d3-4af7-a308-063ede3a026f&pd_rd_w=AFioG&pd_rd_wg=dUSph&pf_rd_p=25145bb1-83c2-4724-9d46-08e5c49d4552&pf_rd_r=A4NFAZE8ZBSQR7K1Q4DE&psc=1&refRID=A4NFAZE8ZBSQR7K1Q4DE

I'm using it again this year and it's decent enough but I haven't tried any others.

It has an A5 sheet for each day, plenty of space for lesson / notes / homework for each period (of which there are 5). It has empty class lists for homework or assessments at the end, two calendars, and I can't remember what else.
