Right now all the rage is the new TCL 6 Series (R615, R617). I personally wouldn't buy a box of Cracker Jack from Best Buy, much less a television. But, whatever. Check out the TCL 55R617 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2018 Model) on Amazon.com. They also have the TCL 55S405 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model) for $380 if you're looking so save some money. TCL 49S405 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model) is $330 if you're really strapped for cash. All of which will be superior entertainment delivery vehicles to any non-OLED LG product.

Definitely not that. For starters, the RU8000 is every bit as good as the Q60R. Aside from that, there are much better sets for the price. I would check out the Vizio M Quantum series. It has good native contrast. Just be careful, as there are 2 different versions of the M series, and one isn't as good as the other. You want a G1 M series, not the G0.

Spend the extra money on sound, or did you just plan on using the TV speakers? I know everybody dumps on soundbars, but my parents have this and I really like the sound and bass for movies. Wireless setups are SO NICE.

I looked at that one and almost pulled the trigger. I ended up going to for the 6 series on the prime deal right now on amazon due to people saying picture quality , Brightness, and blacks being much better for just a couple hundred dollars difference. Still cost less then that Samsung I was about to purchase before I heard such good things about TCL.

I got the 55" version due to my distance from sitting area to TV.

For 750 the Vizio m is your best bet. It's a 4k uhdtv. The 50 inch on amazon is 628 plus tax right now. I just bought this TV a couple weeks ago and am happy with it. Vizio tvs use sony panels which are very good. They are definately better than the panels samsung uses. Lg probably has better quality but the 4k uhdtvs would be out of your price range for a 50-55 inch tvs. http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-M43-C1-43-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B00T63YUJO?th=1&psc=1

Here’s the soundbar I have. Sounds great and gets really loud.

There’s other cheaper ones, but that’s the one I recommend. Also you can plug in a BT speaker or w/e via aux if the TV supports it.

u/VampyreLust · 1 pointr/Televisions

Though the Vizio P series is great and E series passable the D class is generally crap. I think the only one I could really recommend at that level is the TLC 6 series from 2018. The 55" goes for $670 on amazon, you may be able to find better prices elsewhere.

Sony XBR55X900E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2017 Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MUG21R7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fA4EAb0Z60D9M

Go with that one and get it from amazon warehouse deals. Fantastic tv.

Sony XBR65X750D 64.5" 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2016) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FWIEMVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-9Cjyb1D0ZN0E

I did a quick search and found this. Sony tvscare really good and it's supposed to have gotten an hdr update. You might want do a bit more research on it to see if it's an 8 or 10-bit panel.

What about this?

Is it worth the price jump from the vizeo? My local best buy has it for 600

I did notice the phillips does not seem to support hdr

Not sure about 2019 models but you’re not gonna find a better tv for under 1000

Edit: Best Buy has their in house model for 499.99. Comes with no infrared remote and no Alexa so if those are important to you than get the one from amazon

u/bradkeys · 2 pointsr/Televisions

$1298 on amazon.ca now. Same price at Best Buy.

There are a few out there, but most "dumb" TVs nowadays are from third-tier manufacturers (RCA, Sceptre, etc) or various sketchy fourth-tier no-name manufacturers like Bolva, etc, and won't have desirable features like HDR or good warranties/customer service backing them. I'd generally recommend avoiding them, but they ARE out there if you're dead set on a TV without smart features:

Examples: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sceptre-40-Class-4K-2160P-LED-TV-U405CV-U/54947077

https://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-40-Class-4K-2160P-LED-TV-RTU4002/55686417

As others have said, consider a TV from a more reputable manufacturer (these are basically always smart, nowadays). If you're looking at 4k gaming, TCL/Hisense make budget sets that would be a big step up (and come with HDR to boot). The TCL S-series TVs are a good example (and have low input lag too):

OLED is dominated by LG.
There is currently the B6 model on sale but a little over your budget.
Amazon and TV Review 1, TV Review 2

Other brands such as Samsung have QLED and Vizio with their XLED TVs but they simply do not compare and are honestly over priced.

The Sony XBR65X900E seems like a great model, lowest price its ever been currently, and right at my max budget.

I'll probably pick up the PQ65-F, looks like it's $1200 right now at Costco. I also grabbed a VESA base (link) since the Vizio's legs are wider than my cabinet.

One more question, though - the PQ65-F specs say it supports HDMI v2.0 but this article says HDMI v2.0 only supports 4k @ 60 Hz. So I guess you'd run most content @ 4k 60 Hz, then drop down to 1080p 120 Hz for games?

u/sycore3 · 1 pointr/Televisions

Yes. The new 2017 55" TCL P Series. 72 zone FALD, WCG, DolbyVision HDR, ultra low 15ms lag, built in Roku. There is a reason it is the #1 new item on Amazon. At its special intro price of $599 it is hard to find anything close that delivers the same performance. Amazon is saying 2-3 months, but TCL is saying mid June for shipping. Worth a look if you are not in a hurry.

Something like this should do what you need. There may be cheaper ones out there, this is just the first one I saw on amazon:

Its a dark environment. I was thinking about getting the Samsung UN65KU6300

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E6BHEFW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A13ACIRM091OJE

It only has a true refresh rate of 60 though....is the difference between that and 120 that much of a difference?

My budget is around $2000

u/skleegro · 1 pointr/Televisions

I hooked a pair of these bad boys up to my receiver and I don't care what the audiophiles say, they are freaking awesome. I prefer them over my surround sound system 95% of the time (exception being when I can truly crank up the system). Sound quality is great, no static or any other issues.

Hmm... yeah I'm leaning towards Samsung too. Seems more future proof than the Vizio (and higher quality.)

Is there any other TV I should be looking into for 4K HDR UHD around the $500-1200 range?

Universal TV Stand for TV with swivel and height adjustment https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IUUN6L2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jJjezb91E0TS5

There are lots of things like this that will fix your issue.. maybe search before posting?

u/danieljay691 · 1 pointr/Televisions

I bought this, Bill. Will that work or should I cancel and buy something else? I'm a dummy when it comes to electronics

TCL 4k TVs. Rtings.com and forums hold them in high regard for their price point.

TCL S405 55inch $399

better quality but currently $649, could drop down on black friday.

TCL 55P607 55-Inch HDR

u/shawnbowers · 1 pointr/Televisions

Alright, further research, I'm thinking about raising the budget and leaning towards one of these:

Sony XBR65X750D

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR65X750D-64-5-Ultra-Smart/dp/B01FWIEMVW

or

Samsung UN65KU7000
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN65KU7000-65-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B01EBGELGW

Will I hate either of these? AM I NUTS?
