Been eyeballing this a while $600. Alternatively a Chromebook is much cheaper and can still function as a word processor.
As for academics- start putting yourself in the mindset for interning. Talk to professors and advisors about it, find out how to lookup, apply and get course credit etc. If you can get 1 or 2 internships under your belt, you can really substantially increase the value of your degree
