Unfortunately, this interview in entirely in German, but there is some great footage of Sala playing his chosen instrument, the Mixtur-Trautonium. At one point in the film you can even see that he also uses an analog delay unit for added polyphony.
If anyone would like to hear this instrument in all its glory, I recommend Oskar Sala – Subharmonische Mixturen to start. At least two other albums can be had, but this one is my favorite as it contains a piece written for the Trautonium by Paul Hindemith.
Edit: Here's his Electronic Dance suite No. 1 so you can here more of the instrument.
The weird one is a trumpet with a Harmon mute. (Sorry the most direct thing I could find was an ad). This mute makes the instrument quite quiet so there was likely some interesting mix work done at that section.
It is a lever harp. The levers near the top allow for different tunings, but it doesn't have any pedals. This is the specific one the player uses, as indicated in the video. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LUD1F4/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=acousti0f-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B001LUD1F4&linkId=c61cc225ecbd65b568d13a74c89c399a
