Right, and that's the part where I said "A genuine 90W type-C brick seems to only have..."

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-LA90PM170-0TDK33-Adapter-Charger/dp/B0717673D2

I should have been more clear, for sure.

Edit: I have done work in PD compliance and pre-certs. We're still in the wild west days of the PD/Type-C standard in general. If the type-C was a pretty new implementation (read: as first gen), then I've seen all sorts of weird things - an optional 12V "only" (implication being it supports all mandatory modes below that, as that's required) doesn't even phase me. Is it dumb? Yeah - but the ecosystem is just barely starting to understand how to not do things terribly.

I'm sure you've seen straight up bad things if you're doing PD related reviews :)

Edit 2: (Also for /u/Darrena) - You can pick up a PD voltmeter if you're interested to see WTF is going on: https://www.amazon.com/MakerHawk-Multimeter-Multi-function-Capacity-Detector/dp/B07GQLYMR9/ If it so happens that the 12V contract is being negotiated, then this will show it. The other thing I didn't mention is that if it's only negotiating 12V, it looks like the output is capped at 36W (12V*3A), however, since it's an optional contract, you can actually get away with going over - I'm really curious what is actually happening. If the input voltage for the DC Jack is already 19.5V, you'd think they'd just implement 20V...

There are brands that make cables shorter such as this one but they seem like they’re cheap cables. My purpose for the cable is to use it to connect my phone to my car, and I want to make sure I’m getting a trusted cable.

Deciding between CableCreations hub for the braided cable, and Cable Matters hub for the plastic body.

All of those chargers seem decent. I like the price of the RAV charger. I've only had a need for international plugs once in my life, but it's not impossible. The space savings on the RAV might do it though. I would definitely choose the Innergie for the form factor and the power if it weren't double the price, but now it's a toss up.

Also just saw this Dart-style charger on Amazon.com, $27 USD for chinese 60W 3.07" x 1.53" x 1.1" charger, vs. Innergie $110 USD 60W 2.36" x 1.18” x 1.18". Both ship to Canada, but hilariously cost $224CAD and $91CAD on amazon.ca.

I've been looking for something similar (<400g, 30+ W PD, pass-through charging).

Haven't come across anything quite perfect, but so far I've found (in increasing price order):

macbook or macbook pro? Thunderbolt 3 or just USBC?

it should work even on a 2016 macbook (non-pro) but depends on dock and cables

must have HDMI 2.0 Display

must have certified USBC to HDMI 2.0 cable

this is why displayport is better, any DP inputs on that monitor?

this explains it

and also from apple

why not go direct from HDMI on dock? is this ur dock?

You won't find anything like that, USB C data out is rare. The way this works, at heart of all these devices there is a four port USB hub operating at either 5gbps or more rarely at 10gbps. What you are asking for requires two hubs chained. Sometimes those are available in a single device but never with a USB C port. Cheap is not something it will be. But cheapest device with a USB C data out I know of is https://smile.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Multiport-10Gpbs-Reader/dp/B07FQV6QMC/ and you can add a USB A hub w/ Ethernet like https://smile.amazon.com/TeckNet-Aluminum-Converter-Ultrabooks-Notebooks/dp/B0178HOTOU

I'm not asking to break the laws of nature. I just don't want one that has a outlet on it. I have this one.

USB C Battery Pack RAVPower 20100 Portable Charger with QC 3.0 Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, 20100mAh Input & Output Type C Power Bank for Nintendo Switch, iPhone, 12-inch MacBook, Galaxy and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019IFIJW8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_M2FDCbEQSY6NJ

And love it but when I look for one that can charge my laptop via USB pd they get 2-3 times the size. I just want one about that size.

The USB-A to 3.5mm isn't quite what you are thinking. That is for converting digital to analog and it's for making 3.5mm work on digital ports. https://smile.amazon.com/Plugable-Headphone-Microphone-Aluminum-Compatible/dp/B00NMXY2MO

I don't think anyone makes what you need. It'd be easier to return/sell your headphones and get a 3.5mm pair.

Not a lot of cheap options at 20,000mAh. It doesn't help most of RAVPower's models are currently out of stock.

dodocool 20100 45W Type-C PD has a promo code that gets it down to $38.99. Enter promo code 9LTYG9UP during checkout. It is USB-C PD 45W, among the biggest outputting power banks currently on the market. Includes a 12 inch USB-C to USB-C cable and micro-USB cable. Only recharges at 30W (same as most other 20,000mAh models) via USB-C. I'm in the middle of a review of it right now. So far I like it. You can't use it with a Google Chromebook Pixel or HP Spectre laptop. And you need a good quality 30+W USB-C PD wall charger to charge it quickly. I'll post the review on this sub later, but no guarantee the promo will still be going on. If you have specific questions let me know.

AUKEY PB-Y14 20000 USB-C for $40 is the cheapest option among the top three power bank brands. Regular USB-C 5V/3A), no cable included.

USB-A power banks at that capacity don't run much cheaper. I've reviewed the EC Technology 22400, which costs $33. See my review here. Solid USB-A power bank, doesn't do anything fancy. If you don't have a USB-C to USB-A cable you'll need to buy one.

My suggestion is to have two docking stations and then use a usb switch (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BD8I2OY) for your mouse and keyboard.

To be even fancier, you can use Synergy by Symless to share your mouse and keyboard over the network. You could also get this sweet audio mixer to get audio from both computer into a single headset or speakers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M68UK38

This is basically what I do for my work and home computer.

u/titleunknown · 5 pointsr/UsbCHardware

I recently found this one. It lets you use your own cable.

Here's another.

u/namdude0373 · 1 pointr/UsbCHardware

I have this and I like it! The loop may not work well for your needs though:

SanDisk 32GB Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C - USB-C, USB 3.1 - SDDDC2-032G-G46 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZ0X23W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mEzqDbQPZYF8D

Never ever use these kinds of cables. For ANYTHING. If you have one, cut the tips off of each of the plugs to disable the cable, and throw it in the trash.

These cables violate the USB-C specification, the USB 2.0 specification, Apple's Lightning specification, all at the same time.

Cables have two ends only. One end goes to a power source, the other end goes to a power sink. Devices and hosts are provided this assurance by the specifications.

A power supply communicates its power limitation to the device it's attached to assuming a point to point relationship, not a TREE of devices all behaving independently.

The baseline power that something can draw in USB 2.0 is 500mA. Say you have one of these octopus monstrosities plugged into your PC's 500mA USB-A port. Then you start plugging in your phones.

If you plug in 4 phones, and they are tricked by the cable to draw the basic 500mA, suddenly you have 2A flowing out of your computer's 500mA port. That means your computer's USB-A may be damaged.

These cables are complete trash. Never use one.

If you want something that has data capability, then you need a hub, for example this: https://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-27402-4-Port-Inches/dp/B000LWX6U8

The hub has active components, and is able to signal to the USB devices attached to it to not draw more than 100mA when it's bus powered.

Quick look at your user profile shows 3 posts, no comments, all about this "product" you "just found" somewhere on the internets that purports to "do" what you want. Your post in /r/oneplus was already removed for spam.

The iOS version of the Klearlook headphone jack adapter is /r/CatastrophicFailure material. Meanwhile, the one you're advertising is full of astroturfed/sponsored reviews, with the only credible user reviews being in line with what I expect to see from yet another Chinese Alibaba rebrand. And Klearlook itself is just another generic Western-friendly Alibaba "brand" that peddles pretty much the same cheap bullshit as everyone else.

Fuck you and your spam/self-promotion.
