EDIT: In my rush to type this out on mobile, I made a factual error in my post. Apparently VMP is charging $40 for this because it’s a double LP not because it’s a low stock item. I’ve left my comment unedited because while this one area of my comment was inaccurate, my larger points still stand.

Paging u/storfer

Just so you know, people are definitely getting sick of VMP’s shit when you pull stuff like this. You guys now up charge on low stock items and you’re making new members sign up for three months just to join. That’s almost $90 just to sign up for the first time. That’s bullshit, and you know it.

I mean come on man. The word profit isn’t a dirty word around here, but you guys are looking more money grubbing by the day. I can’t hardly find an interesting title in your store for less than $35. It’s also full of easy to find titles (read: cheap) that you guys are selling for $30.

Also, I was pretty disappointed in your response to a comment on the VMP subreddit when a user asked what was different or special about y’all’s pressing of How I Got Over and your response was that the cover was “shiny” and that the vinyl was colored.

Dude, that record is $13 on Amazon. You’re really telling me that what VMP is doing is worth $18 more? Just for context, $30 is 230% of the original price. You think it’s reasonable to charge more than double for a shiny cover and a colored record? Seriously?

I am sure that the guys at Newbury make a good living selling readily available titles for double because they come on colored vinyl. I’m also sure that Amoeba is doing great flipping their own records for exorbitant prices once their stock runs low.

But purists hate them. I know guys who have shopped with Amoeba for years who literally won’t do business with them anymore because of the fact that they are flipping their own limited pressings. I also can’t remember the last time I heard one of my record collecting friends even mention Newbury Comics. These companies have without question been successful, and they have increased their profit on a per sale basis, but at what cost? How many customers did they run off - or turn off - with their pricing and tactics?

What’s crazy is at this rate you guys will be selling How I Got Over for $40 when it hits your store. It won’t be remastered. It won’t have a bonus disc. It won’t come signed, or have some cool shirt thrown in. It’ll literally be the same thing as this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002BEJ3BK/ref=tmm_fbs_vnl_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=&sr=

except it’ll be TRIPLE the price. Oh, and it’ll be shiny. And have a colored record.

Congratulations on your success. I mean that. I wish you guys the best moving forward, but you should know that people are getting really put out with the bullshit lately.

do you like the postal service or colored vinyl better? If you are just into special things go this route.

It is black vinyl but an entire extra disc of postal service sound for less money. And it's "special" for the 10th anniversary so up your alley? Pressing is great, I can vouch.

For good measure, here's the Amazon.fr links to the individual albums:

  • Alive 1997 (single LP)
  • Alive 2007 (double LP)

The box set includes both albums - 1997 on silver vinyl, 2007 on white vinyl. It also includes a bonus single-sided 12" with the encore tracks on side A and an etching on side B, which comes on grey vinyl. It includes a 52-page photo book, a replica VIP-pass for the 2007 tour and a download card for both albums + a live video for Harder Better Faster Stronger. Not mentioned in the description, but from the picture it appears that the box also includes a slipmat.

EDIT: US pre-order via Amazon is up now - $130

I have them all.

They are all fantastic. Can’t really pick one over another.

This is the album that got me into them. I remember hearing floater and just being blown to the moon.

I have the black and grey variant of this and now the two represses.

On another note New Junk is still available.

Amazon has had this up for a while...I pre-ordered on July 18. They have the release date set at 12/31/2016, but that could be a placeholder?

Either way, Amazon won't charge the card until it's shipped.

This bootleg is good but it’s not 32 euro good, it’s been widely and readily available for $15 or so in the past. You can get it for $20 on Amazon right now: Iggy & Ziggy: Cleveland https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007IJKC5Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0.6HDbPN9NAD3

Looks like new pressings from Amazon are around $28 but you can find cheaper ones on eBay. This appears to be the stereo version of the album.

They probably won't get any anyway, I tried to order the Drive OST and never got it.

...sigh... $25 for this pre-order, or $12 on green vinyl from a variety of places.

Pre-order for $25 from Newbury Comics, or you know, just buy the fucking thing from the very same Newbury Comics for $18 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002Y1OAJU).

Or even better, buy it from somebody else like one of the 3rd party sellers selling it for $11. Insound marked theirs down to $5 before selling out.

Newbury can fuck right off with all of these unnecessary and overpriced reissues. I don't know why anyone buys them. 50-60% markups on titles that are readily available elsewhere, yet people eat that shit up. It makes zero sense.

Found this on Amazon. No picture but I pre-ordered anyway.
