Sounds like lots of traditional Chinese or Japanese music with symphonic additions. I don't have any specific recommendations as I don't know offhand any with a symphony, but here are some quick Amazon searches for Chinese music:

You can preview it here. It's the second track, the whole album is great. This is another great song, also on that CD.

He can try to overnight a copy from an Amazon third-party seller and hope the seller is quick to process. I'm not too knowledgeable on the less-than-legal options.

There is an incredible boxset called The Music of Islam. It covers a lot of different styles and regions: Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, music of the bedouins, and Nubians, and some other stuff. The liner notes are also very detailed and informative, discussing the various styles, rhythmic figures used, instrumentation, etc. Highly recommended if you really want to digest some Islamic music.

Might be a long-shot but there was a 2-cd set that came out in the 90's focused mainly on drumming and the last song was just this really happy tribe singing something that could have been latata lala tata

It was called 'big bang' or 'the big bang' iirc and it has proven exceedingly difficult to track down on the internet. No help that there was also a band named Big Bang and they 'kind of' played world-ish music.

...

... oh this time the search was fruitful:
