Depends on how many things you have.

I started with this Plano 3700, but out grew it pretty fast. I have several additional pro-latch boxes of various layouts to hold the added content.

But thats just for storing at home, or (when i play HotAC) allows me to pick the 4 trays i need, put them in, with all the large ships in the top section (with pluck foam to hold them), and carry that.

Now if im just taking a couple built lists to my FLGS to play for a day, i put my play stuff in this Frabill Softbag that holds plano 3600 size trays.

In that, this tournament tray fits to hold my range rulers/maneuver templates and such. (They also make the tray to fit in the 3700 size as well)

The plano trys are good because the compartments can be adjusted to fit the size of the ship to reduce the amount of space thats wasted. I also go a bit further and add some cotton in to protect the ships paint and so they dont rattle around too much.

Here are some (rather old) pics of my collection in it.

u/Tervlon · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

The Plano 5231 is where I would start. I have several that I keep mine in (my collection is rather large). The top section will accommodate all the ship tokens, the gameplay tokens and templates & obstacles. The inside will easily fit all that you have along with the dials and damage deck with plenty of room to spare. I am storing complete conversion kit cardboard and a majority of the small ships in the boxes. Adding a bunch of large ships to the collection may present an issue eventually, but you can fit a YT-1300 + another large ship without issues. The Ghost does not fit in the box unfortunately.

Edit: The prices on Amazon for the red plano are not great right now though.

The HDX interlocking series is pretty great, too. The containers lock together making it easy to add to the collection as needed and they are easy to carry. These can accommodate the bigger ships like the Ghost, too. maybe go with this. The price is good, too.

I have been having the same issue trying to figure out how I want to store all my dials and tiles. I have noticed that if you want to do binders that the small base tiles fit into the old 1.0 Mini upgrade card sized pages, the medium fit into the Normal card sized pages and the large bases fit into the 4 Slot sheets. In terms of dials I have been reading that people have been using These sheets. I have been on the fence about using binders for these, but I already have a box of 100 mini upgrade sheets from 1.0 that I still have like 80% of because I bought it before 2.0 was announced thinking I would need them. I was considering doing card and coin boxes for them. I know Coin boxes are popular as well for dials and small bases, but for the medium and large I don't really have a solution to those right now. I know I can fit the large into Card boxes, but I don't know if there is a better solution for medium bases.

u/Lord_Seacow · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

For storage I highly recommend this Plano case. I then have a roll of packing foam to help further protect my ships. I also use some of the leftover plastic packaging that the X-Wing models cam in as dividers to hold things like templates and such. That box will hold a massive amount of ships and everything else that goes with the game, for a long time I even kept my Armada collection in the same box. I also use a separate card storage box, but that's only really necessary if you have a very large collection.

For accessories a set of acrylic movement templates are very nice to have, but are hardly necessary as the cardboard ones hold up pretty well for a while. I've gotten two sets from Curled Paw Creatives and highly recommend them!

u/NDRB · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I know you wanted boxes but that gets pretty annoying pretty quick. It is only marginally easier to arrange when you buy a new expansion and a lot more annoying each time you look for or replace a used card.

I have sleeves which I arrange by type and cost and make sure there is plenty of space between types and costs to make inserting new cards easier. Every so often I need to put in a bit of extra work to keep everything nice but it really isn't much work even with over 130 ships.

I use the sleeves below, with different colours of the 18 card ones for different factions, and a folder for ships and 1 for upgrades to make life even easier.

u/Dreadnot9 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use this Stanley organizer:

In it I've got:

  • All my pilot and reference cards (except duplicates)
  • All my upgrade cards
  • Two damage decks
  • All focus, evade, stress, ion and other tokens
  • 9 of each kind of dice
  • My large ship bases

It could easily store things like bases and dials, I just simply keep those in my foam.

It works really well, the large compartments are perfectly sized for pilot cards, and the medium ones are great for upgrade cards. The smallest ones are good for holding tokens and dice. I'd highly recommend it, and the great part is it's relatively inexpensive and you can always just pick up a second when/if your collection grows!
u/Adama70 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I have one of those also, it works great for the tokens and cards. The small containers fit the upgrade cards, the larger containers fit the big cards, so far the only thing that doesn't fit are the movement and range pieces. The best part of that the little containers come out. When we play we just take out the shield, focus, evade and stress cups so the tokens aren't floating around loose on the table. I'm going to move the cards over to a binder as soon as I get the binder sheets that hold the upgrade cards.

For the models, bases and dials I purchased one of these: Plano Double Cover Two Sided Tackle Organizer. It fits everything I have, very well. The bases, movement and range finder all fit in the top part, the smaller ships and a few of the larger ships fit in the bottom. I don't think it will fit the Ghost, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that ship.

Finally I bought a bunch of single felt sheets in the craft area at Wal-Mart, I cut the felt into strips and use it as a liner for each of the compartments that holds a ship. I'm not sure if will really help that much much but it makes me feel better. For big ships like the Decimator and Falcon I just wrapped them in a piece of felt.

u/Kalranya · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

I use Ultimate Guard binders (and sleeves, for what it's worth) for pilots and upgrades, and they protect well, but they're slow to use and a pain to organize. The damage deck I just keep in a bag with my travel token kit, which is a teensy little Plano box.

Speaking of Plano, the default ship storage solution, at least here in the US, is the 1374, which will hold up to approximately 100 ships, plus base chits and dials. No idea if they exist on your side of the pond or not, but if they do, look into them.

If you want to protect your ships a bit better, Sir Willis' micro hangers are the DIY of choice and have the benefit of making you look way more slick and professional than any of us actually are about our little toy space ships.

Feldherr cases work great, if you're willing to pay for them. Since I'm not worried about scratching paintjobs or breaking glued joints on X-Wing like I am other minis, I think foam is overkill. If you want foam but a cheaper option, consider KR Multicase stuff.

u/Dagobah-Dave · 4 pointsr/XWingTMG

When I started the gaming club, I invested in some extra-wide black yoga mats, which I cut down to create several 36"x36" play mats. I used an old toothbrush and a bit of white acrylic paint to lightly splatter some "stars" onto them. Each mat ends up costing about $13, and has lasted for years now with no signs of wear. My favorite thing about them is that the yoga mat surface is really grippy, which helps prevent accidental bumping of ships and asteroids. I like pretty much everything about them, really.

If you're interested, search for "Yoga Accessories Extra Wide and Extra Long 1/4'' Deluxe Yoga Mat" on Amazon, or maybe this link will work:

u/icepyrox · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

Was it something like this??

As for me, I was using what /u/Nybear21 suggested, but have outgrown it for two reasons:

  • Mainly, I insist on using Sir Willibald's Microhangers and Gearboxes, which takes up more room in the tackleboxes than putting everything in there loosely would cause/create
  • I have everything from the game, including epics and stuff and there just isn't quite enough room there.

I still highly recommend that tacklebox or something that supports the Plano 3700 series of boxes (the 1374 was the gold standard while it was made, to the point that the top reviews on Amazon were all about X-wing).

As for what I currently use, I bought a bulk of literature mailers (10x10x2 corrugated cardboard) and put those microhangers/gearboxes in there in a stack. The epics are on shelves in display that I carry in their original plastic when I transport them to the store.
u/Melphor · 6 pointsr/XWingTMG

This Plano box for storing my extra ships and components. I have 4.

This Plano tacklebox for storing and transporting the lists that I'm currently playing. You can definitely fit all that. I also recommend getting some bubble wrap. They sell it in large rolls at hobby stores like Hobby Lobby. I bought a roll for like $5 a couple years ago and I still haven't used it all. It makes for good padding.

u/22cthulu · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

As others have mentioned the Plano makes several great cases that work great for X-wing

Here's what it looks like with ships/dials/bases/tokens inside of it. I caulked the bottom of the trays since they didn't sit flush I can fit almost all of my Rebel fleet inside of it. The only thing I can't fit is a YT-2400, though I took out the Ghost I could fit several more easily. I picked mine up at Harbor Freight on sale for $9

u/Eluzion · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

This is the best solution I have found period for the cards: (1mb Image)

It hold all my cards both pilots and upgrades with Fantasy Flight Sleeves on all cards. I just put two of the smaller ones sideways in one sleeve pocket and they fit perfectly.

Its avaliable from Amazon here is one such example, just the first one that came up:

u/Kelbesq · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use these Stanely 25 compartment cases:

To protect the ships a little more, I either line the compartments with craft foam, or use extra foam from pick and pluck. It manage to keep my ship pretty secure even while moving, or if I flip the case upside down. I really like the modularity, and the combo of a rigid shell + foam.

I also use the 10 compartment ones for larger ships (and eventually, Armada).

Edit: the 25 bin ones are much cheaper ordered via Home Depot. For some ships, I also re-use the original plastic and just trim it down to fit a compartment.

u/Tasrine · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

apologies for the shitty-length link, but this tackle-box works rather perfectly to hold most of a current collection. I highly recomend it.

It will of course, not hold the Raider, Tantive, etc, but any of the large ships fit just fine

u/crimsonedge7 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I use the Stanley 014710H and 014725M boxes, depending on the size of the ship. It's a bit pricier than the individual Plano boxes you can find, but it's sturdy and I haven't found a ship that doesn't fit in one of the two sizes. The compartments are removable and you can mix-and-match them, so they're pretty versatile. They stack nicely, as well.

Some example pics here. Dials and base tokens are stored with the ships unless they don't fit in the same compartment. When that happens they are still in the same box, just a "general" compartment. I even stored the cards in them until all my 2.0 conversions meant I had way too many cards to easily find that way and I switched to binders.

EDIT: For some extra clarification, I have one of each 1.0 ship (plus a second IG-2000 and the Aces packs, etc.) plus Lando's Falcon and a 2.0 core. All of that converted over to 2.0 with the kits fits in 5 of the thinner 25-compartment cases and 2 of the larger 10-compartment ones. Obviously the amount you need will depend on how many ships you have and whether you feel the need to separate them by faction like I do, but it's not a bad storage solution, if I say so myself.

u/SoushaS · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

here is a link to the ones I bought

they are in a binder, and I have turned the binder upside down and did not have a problem with them falling out as they do fit nicely in the pockets and to get them out you have to push them up from the bottom of the pocket as you can not easily reach in the pocket and pull them out.

as for the size, you need to make sure the pocket size is a little bit over 2 inches as the dials are 2 inches wide. the ones linked are an excellent size. plus 20 pages for $6 is not bad.

u/alvin_sanity · 5 pointsr/XWingTMG

I use these ( for both dials and bases and like it very much.

It makes it a lot easier to find the stuff you need.

It's relatively easy to put things in and take them out. The one caveat is that it's sometimes too easy for parts to fall out. As long as you store your binder and travel with it upright things should be fine.

u/Aanar · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Nice work!

Just throwing in another option for anyone reading this thread: An extra wide yoga mat can work too.

Pros: Can get an epic size mat w/o a seam (or 2 3x3 mats out of it). It has a better grip than the offical mats. Pretty cheap if you find a buddy to split one with you.

Cons: Kind of bulky to haul around with you. It's a bit soft, spongy, and bumpy. Not sure how well stars painted on it will stick.

u/experimentrx78 · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

Save for the epic ships, I essentially have a very similar number/distribution of ships as you. I use the Plano 5231. One for the rebels and one for the empire. It does a good job of holding all the small ship, cards, and maneuver dials in the bottom. And the top works well for all the small focus/evades/TLs and such on the top. The only problem I have with it is the storage of the larger ships. I can only seem to fit one YT-1300 in for the rebels, and one firespray plus lambda for the empire. Over all for the price I am happy with them, and there is still room for small ships. I just need to figure out something for larger ships

u/preacher37 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

So I can't stop promoting this box:

It is the perfect size to hold everything you need for a game, plus two small-ship lists + the cards/bases/everything you need. I always sleeve my cards, so what I usually do is prior to heading to play, I create my list, and place the upgrade cards along with the pilot sleeve. That way I can quickly pull them out and set them up.

TLDR: have a "go box" that has the tokens/stuff you need to play + 1-2 lists' worth of cards/ships.

u/Incursus · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

I've found the Stanley 25 Bin case to work extremely well. You can use foam to help hold the ships in or just cut the plastic they come in and stick them in the bins. It holds everything in really well and you can easily see what's inside due to the clear top. I'm about to order a third one for my impulse buy from the Mianiature Market sale.

u/misherswisher · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, but here is the link to the coin sleeves. They are perfect for small bases and dials. highly recommend them!

u/wldcrdbtchs_yeehaw · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

The good 'ol trusty Plano 5231 is $10 at Lowe's/Menard's/Amazon/K-Mart. I also have 3 of the double version (basically two of them plastered together) for each faction and it fits a good majority of my ships and I've been playing since Wave 1.

u/josh6179 · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

Yoga mat. Amazon

It's nice and grippy (much better than the wood table top we were playing on). Also, the mat is big enough that you can make 2 play surfaces out of it.

u/7_legged_spider · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

What did you just do, buy 4 starter sets and the 2 big ships from wave 2?

If purchased new from Amazon, that would only be 158.94 before tax, but would include free shipping if purchased with Amazon Prime. You're STARTING the bidding for your used set $40 higher than the retail price, and then charging an additional $15 dollars for shipping on top of that. Listings, (if you don't believe me):

  • Starter Set $29.65 x 4 = $118.60
  • Millennium Falcon $20.48
  • Slave 1 $19.86

  • Pre-Tax Total, brand new from Amazon: $158.94

Your asking price for used pieces should at least be somewhat lower than the price they could be purchased brand new.

u/20four12 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

The Plano 1364 trays are not deep enough to fit the ships on bases even if you lay them down, but the Plano 1374 tackle box most definitely is capable of doing that for almost all of the small ships.

It's the one I use. Plano 1374

u/Super206 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I keep the models in a cardboard box with pluck-foam inserts, but for everything else I use one of these that was recommended by other folks for X-Wing, here it is in use. The compartment boxes have little feet that slot into divots on the case's base so with the lid closed they're effectively locked in position. There are other types with different compartments and depths as well, you can find them just as easily at any hardware store.

Now all I have to worry about is the pile of baggies that make it look like I'm cutting drugs to make rent.

u/ConfusedUs · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Plano tackle boxes and the associated trays are pretty much the de-facto standard. Some people spring for foam, but almost everyone I know uses a plano tackle box.

I have this box:

Beware: there's a very similar box that's like half the price, but it's also half the size. It doesn't work for X-Wing.

If that's overkill, get a couple of the trays that fit inside of it. There are assorted 3700-series trays with slots of difference sizes. You can see these in person at any outdoor store if you want to check sizes.

u/Donnchaidh · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I've been pretty happy with the Stanley cases. The removable compartments make for pretty easy reconfiguring, if you like that sort of thing. You do have to be willing to cut your own foam.

The 10 compartment one is deep enough to fit the Tantive, and should fit at least one other ship in with it. (I only have the one)

Amazon Link

Side note on pistol cases. The criminal element in this world often steals that sort of thing. I've heard stories of people using them to transport other things (model horses), and having their car broken into. Great for solid storage/transport, but worth keeping them out of sight.

u/Tzarkahn · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I found them on Amazon UK, closest to me, for £5.86 and prime availability.

Thanks for your help people.

Stanley tool organizer. It literally fits X-Wing items perfectly and can be customized to your needs. I'm buying two more just in case... CHEAP on Amazon :)

u/mysterious_gamer · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use these for ship dials: They fit perfectly though I don't think the plastic dial upgrades would fit. There isn't must wiggle room.

I also have one of these in the folder section of the binder for all the other tokens:

edit I keep the plastic ship bases in with my battlefoam and maneuver templates in the back most folder up against the hard binder side to prevent them from getting bent.

u/xKolt · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

You can look up "16Pocket Pages" on amazon and you'll get a ton of results there that show them using upgrade cards even. I bought some BCW ones and really like them. The cards fit nicely in there even when they have sleeves.

u/gperson2 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I use a side-loading card binder. Since upgrade cards are basically half-cards, you can stack two in a slot, but since it loads from the side as opposed to the top, it is much easier to remove the cards you want. It's on amazon here

u/Sqyr3l · 6 pointsr/XWingTMG

I use a Plano 5231 for my tournament box.

2 Level Plano container has plenty of compartments up top for tokens, asteroids, damage decks galore. As well as flat ships like X-Wings etc, bottom level deep enough to hold YTs and Decimators with ease, as well as pilot cards, loadouts, and taller ships, like Ties and B-Wings

u/FatherSyn · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

To be honest, that picture was taken when I was only about 2 months in. I wouldn't be able to fit all my full dials in a binder with my collection now, so I use the upgraded dials and only keep the maneuvers half of the dial and the ship ID token in the pages with the bases. I have one of every ship and multiples of some, and can fit all 3 factions in 1 2" binder.

Edit: These are the pages I used.

u/ScaryCookieMonster · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

These Ultra Pro sleeves? I have them and really like them, although I've never used the FFG ones, so I can't give you a comparison there. And there are 3 reviews on that Amazon page, all positive.

u/Klinger_047 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use this

And multiple of these

Works really well and very cheap. Just got the plano and its perfect for holding all tokens in the top.

u/Briliu · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

He is likely asking because like many ships, the interceptor expansion is sold out pretty much everywhere. Amazon, from my search just a moment ago, only has $30 copies. I don't blame him at all for not wanting to spend $30 on a $10 ship.

u/jjpearson · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

You can tell this is the correct one because under the "also purchased" is x-wing stuff.

I'm mostly a one of each ship person (minus the swarm ships, like i have 8 tie's and 8 Z-95's) and have one of these for each faction. They hold plenty of small based ships and can handle some of the smaller large based ships. Other than not having enough storage for the large ships I have no issues with it.

It's a little large to bring everything to game days, but it was cheap and customizable and works great.

u/V1nc3Vega · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Near the end of the album I show my cards stored in two binders, one larger one for the ship cards and a smaller one with small sleeves that perfectly fit the upgrade cards.

u/emoat · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

An extra wide yoga mat works great as a play surface. I don't know if you can find anything with more grip. Link.

u/kintexu2 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

If you can't find it local, the Core set is on Amazon for $29.

The Falcon and Slave 1 should come back around to store soon i hope. They've been out of stock for months now. The FF website says Q1 2015 for a reprint of them.

u/obylix_work · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

here are some on amazon, i use them for dials and small ship tiles

these pages in general are made of a stiffer plastic not soft like ultra pro pages

but before using they can be "loosened up" and work great

u/Nerdfacehead · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I bought this case from Amazon and I'm going to get some foam like you have to line in. Fairly cheap and really good for carrying stuff.

u/synthetix808 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

If you plan to collect most/every ship from all 3 factions and multiples of each, one of the more popular choices is Plano 1374. Its versatile, you'll grow into it, and fairly inexpensive for what it offers.
I just recently retired one and now that I'm at 111 standard play ships (+ the 5 epics in their own case), I'm using this

u/qanar · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I got a set of these sleeves for tournament play ( and am really liking the idea of horizontal ship cards. Might have to make some alt arts myself by the next tournament.

u/Johnnyallstar · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I only have about 30 or so ships, but I use two Plano 5231 cases. One for IMPs one for Rebels, and scum intermittently. I also have a plastic keter toolbox for the large ships.

Lots of people like Plano's stuff. Without getting something custom (read: expensive) you could try one of Plano's bigger chests, like the 732 tackle box.

u/Zefirus · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Got a plano 5231. It's nice for all of the tokens and whatnot. Can also fit a larger ship or two if you wanted.

It's this thing.

u/thecrackbaby · 9 pointsr/XWingTMG

The BCW heavy vinyl 2" coin pocket sheets work really well, the polypropylene is not stuff enough to keep them from falling out, but the heavy vinyl does a good job keeping them in. I use these:

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

It's currently $23 on Amazon

As I said in a previous post, I got it for $18 over Black Friday weekend, so it does get cheaper, but that's still a great price for what you get. Those two TIE/fo alone would cost you $24-28 if purchased separately in the TIE/fo expansion (granted, you get different pilots and upgrades in the expansion, but still).

u/Sheldonzilla · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

I'm using this currently, works like a charm. Here's a pic in action

I have a decent sized collection, and either stuff a lot of models in here, or less models but pack their cards in too. Check out BBQ for cheaper and more varied alternatives.

I usually use foam to carry models, but X Wing models are sturdy enough to be alright.

u/mohuju · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Once you start buying... Anything else, I would pick up 1 or 2 of these bad boys.

I'm not a pro xwing player, but the storage is so danged convenient. In some ways, it enables me even more because there are bins that "need to be filled."

Happy to hear of another new player!

u/mrush007 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I like this one for portable needs not storage.

it has two separate cases you can fit all your dice and tokens in the upper level. The second level has enough room for the large ships and lots of small slots for many small ships. I have not tried the Decimator in it yet so not sure about that.

u/Scruffy_lookin · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

One idea I saw and loved are the plastic binder pages for coin collectors

u/Kriterian · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

One more thing is to get a good storage system with room to grow. Yes you can find some cheap containers to hold a few ships and tokens, but once your collection grows you'll be lugging around 5 or 6 containers.

Plano tackle boxes aren't too expensive and hold everything with room for more. I started out big with the 1374 and still have room after getting all the ships with duplicates.

EDIT: Maybe wait for it to go on sale or shop around. It was only $32 on Amazon when I ordered mine a few months ago.

The Plano 5231 is very popular. Here you can see it in use. Note: I've added 2 Z-95's, 1 Phantom and 1 Defender and it all still fits.

u/CircleTheFire · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Are you going to buy more ships? If so, you may as well go with the most popular solution, the Plano 3952:

I have a small box for tournaments, but it's no good for long-term storage of all of my ships. I've actually just bought a second 3952 so I can have one for Rebels and one for Empire, with Wave 4 coming this summer and some recent additions to my collection to get up to 4 each of the small-base ships.

u/corvinious · 6 pointsr/XWingTMG

Depending on your collection this fits everything and I have one of every ship minus a few epics.

Im also making the jump to dial covers and am using a dowel rod with a stopper to hold the dials from each faction. Was inspired by a buddy of mines.

I use 2"x2" coin holder pages in my binder, they will fit both halves inside each pocket. I leave the dials separated so that when I put one into one of those schmancy new plastic dials, the top half with the label is left behind to remind me where it came from, and I can always look at the back to match the numbers if needed.

u/skardell · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Best surface, no-slip. Cut it in half for 2 or keep it big for epic.

I’ve always really liked the Stanley storage units:

Stanley 014725 25-Removable Compartment Professional Organizer

Honestly, for cards (both upgrade and pilot) I have everything sorted in a huge binder. That being said we're hitting critical mass and gonna have to start carrying two binders- one for Pilots and one for Upgrades.

Also, wanting to upgrade to the Upgrade Dial Kits we're running into how to organize the dials and chits; what I'm wanting to do with these is put them all in Coin Sleeves:

u/DoctorNsara · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

I see X-wing Core sets for $24 USD on amazon (MSRP $40), which is decent:

and the Ghost for $35 (MSRP $50) which is also not bad. Little cheaper than normal.

Coolstuffinc has their regular markdowns, but yeah black friday is not really any different than most days in regards to X-wing

u/SkywalterDBZ · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Cases. They're Stanley tool cases and are perfect for all but the big ships, as you can see

Here's a random link to the first google result so you can see the part number and if they're available cheaply where you are.

Plano Molding 5231 Double Cover Stow N Go Organizer, Porsche Red

This seems to be an inexpensive and popular choice. It's what I we with when starting a collection.

u/Nova_Violet · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

These are perfect and dirt cheap for storing X-wing miniatures.

Don't bother buying pre-made foam, it's way to expensive for something you can do yourself.

u/mac_xiii · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I tried felt prior to shelling out the cash for an official playmat. I thought it would work out well but in practice the small fibers of the felt kept grabbing the ship's bases when I tried to move them which then jerked the whole mat and shook everything around. Also it didn't like to sit flat without a good deal of effort. Ultimately I had to be very cautious in making any movements which slowed down the game and detracted from the experience.

Maybe a higher quality felt would work better, but I would not recommend it. I've seen this recommended around here before, you can cut out two playmats and get a nice grippy mats with enough space for epic play as well

Here is what I bought for the upgrade cards:

Ultra PRO Platinum 16 Pocket Platinum Mini American Cards, 41mm x 63mm, Clear

And this is what I bought for the Pilot cards:

Ultra Pro 9-Pocket Trading Card Pages - Platinum Series (100 Pages)

u/nfamouswun · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

i like this one

its dual sided. you dont have to insert them back to back or flip to the front of the page to pull out a card thats on the back side.

u/flyingbarmitzvah · 6 pointsr/XWingTMG

Just get the 32 pocket ones and cut 'em in half with a razor blade dude. Way more cost effective.

u/mrdizzah · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

Until your collection grows, one or two of these will serve you well. I use two currently and strap them together using suitcase straps.

u/sappidus · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

I bought this one. Works well.

Yoga Direct Extra Wide Yoga Mat, Black

u/LazyG · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

You can get it for £25.52 shipped on Amazon UK, and it is 29 in my FLGS.

u/krezmasters · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Since I have prime, I got this off amazon.

Looks to be the same thing, just made by Stanley.

u/MrOomi1974 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Most 24x72 (2ftx6ft) yoga mats are about 15 dollars on amazon.
The 36x72 (2ftx6ft) yoga mats are about 25 dollars.

Stanley 25-removable compartment organizer. For the price of 1x foam Feldherr bag, I can buy 5 or 6 of these (they go on sale from time to time for $10-$11) and store damn near my entire fleet to include tokens, base, pegs, etc. Big ships and Epic ships may need a deeper Stanley case, the price of which is still comparable with the 25-compartment.

I found foam to be largely unnecessary, unless you plan on throwing your collection down a flight of stairs. I've moved a couple of times and my ships survived undamaged using the Stanley cases.

u/mockblock · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I used this box:

But you can use any box really. It is just slightly bigger than the cards. The cards are sideways no vertical.

And I don't know how to link a pdf file on reddit. Lol this is the first time I am posting a file here.

u/elijahdprophet · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I picked up a pair of Mead zipper 3 ring binders and a Stanley toolbox on Amazon and redid my storage tonight.

Tool box

This fits my whole collection, minus the large ships, which I still haven't found a solution for. I might grab a deeper Stanley box.

u/playnwin · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I meant the "not having Soontir Fel" part.

u/Acherousia · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use these for the small ships, I just cut out the plastic clamshell the ships come in to act as a buffer and hold them in place in the compartments.

The 10 compartment version works well for the epic/large ships.

u/happygocrazee · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I literally carried a handful of b-wings into the store in the front pocket of a hoodie after having them in my car's cupholder all day.

Then I bought some Stanley's.

u/J1mBub · 3 pointsr/XWingTMG

These work for me:

Stanley 014725 25-Removable Compartment Professional Organizer

u/papy72 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

For storage I use a combination of stuff.

Ships, tokens, plastic bases, stands, etc are stored in Stanley Organizers, while the ship dials and pilot base plates are stored in 2x2 coin boxes. Lastly the pilot/upgrade cards are stored in standard 800 or 1000 count cardboard storage boxes.

u/starcade_ · 7 pointsr/XWingTMG

It’s a Stanley professional organizer! Here’s the link

u/StormCrow_Merfolk · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

For my ships, I use Stanley organizer boxes, mostly for small and large ships and for epic ships and a few of the bigger large ones such as the Decimator.

u/Floridarainmaker · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

How do I edit my post?

Common questions:
Acrylic paint.
Plano tackle box.
Here is an early pic of all of it.

u/NecroGi · 4 pointsr/XWingTMG

You do have a problem...

It doesn't appear you have a case for them ;D

(I use these but you have bigger ships than I)

u/LocalAmazonBot · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Here are some links for the product in the above comment for different countries:

The dials are assembled, I would take a picture but I am at work now. I bought these: BCW Pro 20-Pocket Pages, Pocket Size: 2" x2", 20 Pages - Coin Collecting Supplies

u/TypewriterKey · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

If you're talking about the plastics - I just keep them with their ships. I have some extras (from having bought colored sets) that I keep in a drawer.

If you mean the cardboards I put the large cardboard in these:

and the small cardboards in these:

u/devitch · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

Just search for "mini american" card binder. Below are a couple of example links for different locations.

u/Zerostar86 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

To staart with i used bits and bobs cases from B&m,
they have room for ships and dials in each comparment and can carry rulers in the bottom, then i bought an american mini 9 square folder from
for my upgrade cards and a basic deck box for my pilot cards, then i bought a small faherr bag for my firespray. all carryed in a regular backpack.

u/kurosnake · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

I got mine from my FLGS but this is the equivalent Pages 32 Pocket Card Sleeves (10 Piece), Black

u/kniq86 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I already have my boxes (these ones $11 from Amazon) or I'd give the ones from the OP a try. Five bucks is hard to pass up and I feel these minis are a bit fragile for me to want to transport with pegs inserted anyway.

u/dboeren · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I use a Plano for all my stuff, I think it's this model:

In the top compartment I keep all my tokens, dice, pegs, and templates - stuff like that. You can put some small ships in here too, I just don't yet. There are a couple of slightly bigger compartments in the top section that hold my asteroids and damage deck.

In the bottom compartment is all my ships and I put my rulebook in there too. I've still got a good amount of empty space but once it starts filling up I'll migrate a few of the smaller ships into empty spaces on top. Overall it should hold quite a lot of small based ships. The one place it's weak is that there isn't much storage for big ships/bases unless you start cutting the dividers. And the cards share the divider space too. Eventually I'm thinking of migrating them to a thin binder with pocket pages but it's not necessary yet.

There are bigger stow n go models too.
