Really most sources on amazon are fulfilled by amazon themselves so one is usually as good as the other.

If you're not looking for anything too fancy and just want a zippo THIS is a good place to start looking. A street chrome will run you less than 10 bucks with shipping.

If you like brass check THIS link out, you can also get Armor which is a thicker case, I have a few of these.

The very short explanation is that Blaisdell produced the first Zippos in November 1932. SALES of the Zippos did not start until 1933. Here is a pretty good history of 1933 Zips.

Zippo started selling the “1932 Replicas” when much of this history was not known/clear. Once the info was discovered, Zippo started calling 1933 the birthdate of Zippo.

The Zippo 1941 Replica £27 down to £13. Smoothed off corners compared to the original. Its superb. (There is a black one also)

I haven't looked around at all but apparently a few little convenience stores around here are licensed sellers for Zippo. Thanks for the info! I'll pick one up soon one way or another!

Brasso or Nevr-Dull work great. Why bother, it's a never ending task, let the natural patina continue to develop.

I've been looking on Amazon too, because I heard they're cheaper, and I found this which looks really cool.

Oh, and I just picked this up via Amazon (delivered yesterday) and though it's fucking GORGEOUS!, the price disparity between the Zippo website's price and the Amazon price has me wondering if I wasn't duped somewhere somehow...

It is silver, as far as I can tell---it's more of a white metal than, say, the '41 Black Ice, Brushed Steel, or my mirror-finish chrome slim; the bottom has what appears to be correct stamps and says "Sterling"...then again, just because a lighter tells you something, doesn't mean it's true; my last lighter had a nasty habit of compulsively lying when asked simple questions like "how much fluid do you have left?", "how's your flint doing?", and "does this cotton-batting make my flip-top look fat?".

Any sure-fire ways of telling a fake-o from a Zippo?
