Necessary is eye protection, gun, batteries, magazines, and bbs. I'd recommend lower face protection, ear protection, and boots as well.

I'd take the ICS over the Krytac. It is, in my opinion, a nicer gun.

It has a small stock, so you'll have to fit the battery down the buffer tube. This 7.4v 1300mah 25C lipo should work. This 7.4v 1200Mah 25C might work as well. I use these 7.4v 1200mah 20C in my VFC Avalon's buffer tube and they fit with plenty of room to spare. For a charger, you can go high-end and get an Imax B6AC if you can afford it, which I'd recommend, or get the cheaper, more basic charger

For bbs, BLS .28s or, if you need biodegradable, .30 bio, are great.

I'm not too sure what mags work well in ICS, as I've never owned one, but here are some generally good mags: Evike BAMF, Ares Ameoba, PTS EPM, VFC QRS, G&P High RPS, Hex Mag, and Lonex Flash mags. For mid caps, you'll also need a speedloader. Something cheap, something a bit bigger, or something real nice.

For gear, take a look into Condor stuff. It's just good and cheap. I'd also recommend a MODI JPC if you like the style.

For eye pro, Pyramex I-force are great and cheap. Save Phace Grunts are pretty good as well. You could also get ESS NVGs or Revision Desert Locusts pretty cheap on Ebay or surplus stores.

For lower face pro, the One Tigris mask is pretty great.

Amazon isn't where I'd usually go for a vest, but there are some decent options. Condor isn't a fantastic brand (not great quality and durability), but they have some good options for a budget on Amazon. I think the Condor Rapid Assault chest rig is fairly popular and it has some pouches built in. The Condor Recon chest rig has more pouches built in.

People often don't get gear with pouches built in, because it gives you more space to put on and switch out whatever pouches you need at the moment. This is a little more expensive to get started with because you have to purchase the pouches separately, but it gives you more options in the future. This Condor chest rig is more like that, though if you really want a lot of space for pouches you should look into a plate carrier, which is bigger than a chest rig.

But for getting started, you probably don't need that many pouches. Do you have an M4? If you do, I'd suggest the Rapid Assault rig. It has M4 pouches built in which you can use but also has a decent amount of MOLLE space for adding your own pouches. It's a good balance.

Keep doing research, search for other threads like this on /r/airsoft. There might be some better quality options that I don't know about. Buying used is another option, it's harder but you might get a really good deal. Let me know if you have any other questions!

EDIT: /u/zxj4k3xz is correct in pointing out that you probably don't need one. If you're just using a rifle with a high-cap magazine (probably came with it) you won't have much use for a vest/etc. But when you buy mid-cap magazines, and if you use your pistol enough that you want to have it with you as well as your rifle, a chest rig is a good way to carry it (the pistol probably fits in a mag pouch fairly well) for much cheaper than a good holster (the cheap fabric ones are godawful, don't use them).

u/tehspiah · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Just wondering, do you have a budget in mind? If you do I could recommend stuff within that budget.

Edit: Anyways, here's what I would recommend just to start you off with:

M4 RIS
Magpul vertical grip
Red dot sight (for faster aiming)
Dye i4 Mask(These things never fog, fit glasses really well, and is low profile enough that you can still use the iron sights. I would recommend a beanie for head protection)
Condor Chest Rig(Not the best quality, but enough for Airsoft, also has MOLLE weaving so you can swap out the pouches for other MOLLE addons)

I would not recommend a sniper rifle because they need a lot of costly upgrades in order to be effective. Also playing the role of a sniper in a game is boring, you just sit back and shoot all day. You may get a lot of "kills" but in the end of the day, you're just robbing yourself of the fun/adrenaline rush of being on the front line.

Also I would not recommend a pistol until you really feel like you need one. Most of the time, especially if you play CQB, you're not going to run out of ammo any time soon, and your primary isn't going to suddenly die on you for the most part. If you do decide to buy one, I would recommend a Tokyo Marui pistol, even though it's plastic, it shoots the best out of the box and is super accurate, has crisp blowback, and they make unique pistols that other manufacturers don't make, also avoid the M92 like the plague, it's a lemon design. I’ve really been liking mine. its a little hard to make fast and loose rules about optics. Oddly, $50 replicas of high end optics like Eotechs are garbage, while $16 replicas of generic red dots work like a charm.

So far, between real and replica the best bang for my buck was one of these cheap babies

As much as I love a tube style red dot, having the whole side area open (in my opinion) makes the whole sight feel less likes it blocking your line of sight, and feels more like you are peering out a window vs down a toilet paper roll. To each his own though!

When it comes to zoom optics, I’ve used 3-9x scopes and found both are a little over powered for airsoft unless you plan on just sniping. If you are using an M4 I’m assuming you will want to perform multiple functions, and I found bringing up the scope & quickly getting a good sight picture was not worth the effort. You simply won’t be shooting that far.

u/DONUTDAN97 · 1 pointr/airsoft

Honestly it's accurate to about 50-75 feet. It's barrel is literally about the size of my 1911's, it's that small. It's definitely a cqb gun, I wouldn't recommend taking it to an outdoor field.

There's a JG G36 (it will probably be labeled something else because of licensing problems). It feels pretty similar to the UMP I think, and it will have more manageable magazines and a longer barrel. My friend never cleans it or anything, and it's been kicking for around 3-4 years. His is the only gun in our group that hasn't had a single problem haha.

I would also recommend the JG SIG 552. I had it for a while before trading it for an ak (immediate regret) and it shot great. I upgraded the plastic bushings to metal ones. I could've used a better high torque motor, but it was a great feeling gun. I would definitely recommend it.

Here's the SIG

Here's the G36

No.

But if you want one that just works, the red only Fieldsport on Amazon is great at $20.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y3SZEJC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-gUdBbBPA0SJ9

Next step up but still budget would be a Bushnell TRS-25. Less glass tint, and all around better quality for $50.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00200E0HM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4hUdBbX0PJ5FY

Youll want this riser with either one.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TX2BD4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RiUdBbFKT6JE1

If you eventually want a quality real steel Optic, look for the Vortex Strikefire, Vortex Crossfire red dot, Vortex SPARC AR, or the Sig Romeo 5. All can be had for about 120 if you shop around. Vortex optics have fantastic warranties.

If you want some magnification, i eecommend the monstrum 3x prism sight. Let it be known though, that the sight adjustments work in reverse.

u/alexdediu · 1 pointr/airsoft

Since you're new to airsoft I suggest getting a cheaper red dot at first. This red dot is pretty good, only 20 bucks and has great reviews. For the height you should get a rail riser, like this.

Edit: also any normal red dot should fit on your rail system

u/luckydude4 · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Well, you can always do Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Airsoft-Machine-High-Performance-Gearbox-Integrated/dp/B005CBQISA Seems like AirsoftGI is out of stock too and Airsplat is kinda iffy. Amazon's free shipping and no Cali-tax is pretty nice. Should save you $15-$20.

u/ZeroMercuri · 1 pointr/airsoft

This is the one I use and it works pretty well and comes with a power supply and pretty much all the connectors you'll ever need and room to wire up others if it doesn't.

You can also find some great deals on Hobby King.
A lot of people use the Imax B6 but it doesn't come with a power supply (if you have an old laptop one that usually works)

The Accucell S60 is exceptionally good value but only comes with an XT60 connector (you can get other connectors or wire up your own). This one can only charge up to 4S LiPos but that's probably more than enough for Airsoft.

u/Scrub-papa · 5 pointsr/airsoft

I’ve seen gaps in goggles all the time becuase the goggles don’t fit the head very well. I don’t thinks it’s good especially since a bbs almost hit your eye. I’ve never seen any gaps in a Dye mask or revision goggles. There is probably more but this is in my experience.

https://www.amazon.com/Dye-Precision-Thermal-Paintball-Goggle/dp/B002YHFMHS

Also the dye mask is the best thing I’ve ever bought in airsoft lol

u/CypherFox · 3 pointsr/airsoft

Have you had a look at the Bolle X800 or Bolle X810 goggles? They're ballistic rated goggles with the lens as a separate piece from the frame, allowing for great ventilation and they're pretty much impossible to fog. I'm the sort of person that fogs any and every kind of eye protection even with antifog and I've yet to fog my X810's! I'd highly recommend them! It's as close to a permanent solution as you can get.

u/IAmTheFatman666 · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Here's what I use.

It's 4x, which is plenty high for airsoft. Nice and compact, a little heavy, but not at all bothersome, great view and a nice reticle. All for $25!

u/SleepPingGiant · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Check out the UTG bug buster. It's $80 but I love it and it's amazing for the price.

u/shadowblade232 · 4 pointsr/airsoft

Coat effective? If they protect against BBs, they'll protect against flying jackets and coats and maybe even sweaters.

What's your budget? Did you even Google-fu? Post over in /r/airsoftmarket, check out airsoftforum.com, and/or look on Ebay for military surplus. Just make sure they're ANSI z87.1 rated.

EDIT: I'm feeling generous. Go get yourself some surplus ESS goggles or Arena Flakjaks. Used ones can be had for less than $30. Hell, Lancer Tactical even makes a knock-off Flakjak for dirt cheap. If they're still fogging, use some Cat Crap (also available in spray form). OR you can be a cheap-ass like me and buff some dish soap on the inside of your lens until clear before gameday.

u/jafner425 · 2 pointsr/airsoft

I have glasses, but I put Cat Crap on them so that shouldn't be an issue.
Do you have experience with the Save Phace's? They are supposed to fit under glasses too, but they press the sides pretty hard. If the Land Ops are big enough I might go for it since I'm not yet a fan of contacts.

u/hayon153 · 1 pointr/airsoft

For cheapness you can get a Fieldsport Micro Dot from amazon for $20 and a UTG Riser Mount. I do not recommend using these sights without a riser.

If you want to spend some actual cash on a really good optic I recommend either a primary arms T1 and riser or a [Holosun] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NC1G0KI/ref=dp_cerb_2). Dutch uses a Primary Arms but IMO the holosun is probably the best budget real steel optic on the market.

Here's my setup,

Revision Desert locust goggles : https://www.evike.com/products/35174/

These thermal lenses : https://www.evike.com/products/51192/

Magnetic Fog Wiper for Ski & Snowboard Mask

Tactical Crusader 2G Airsoft Strike Steel Half Mask, Jungle Camouflage https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EP6YVUK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iBn3CbVYH3186

Take the face mask, goggles and zipties and follow this video tutorial
https://youtu.be/Vx7mxc5vn0A

This is what I'm running. Best thing out there in my opinion. If you are STILL having issues - return the goggles and get these https://www.evike.com/products/36909/

These have a fan in them to help. And you can put the thermal lens in these and everything else too.

Now you don't have to go all out, there's cheaper stuff out there. But for the love of god, do SOMETHING different. Because with a "setup" like that nobody's gonna feel bad for u when u get an eye shot or lose a tooth.

u/SilentKiller96 · 1 pointr/airsoft

Yeah, I have an AEG. Is this the sight you are talking about? Are they bright enough for shooting in the sun? Are they metal?

Thanks for your help.

u/callmespanker · 10 pointsr/airsoft

Like others have pointed out, you're spending a lot of money. Hey, that's not necessarily a bad thing considering we know nothing about your budget.

Some tips for your selections:

  • If you are willing to drop $100 on that mask you might as well go for a Dye Precision i4 mask. This is the last eye/face protection option you will ever need, for only $30 more than you're already spending.

  • Those gloves seem a bit expensive considering I have never heard of the model, and to be honest they look a little cheap. These Mechanix gloves run about half of what you're budgeting and are highly recommended, probably the best price/quality ratio on the market. Don't take my word, take the 635 reviews on Amazon's word.

  • Boots are totally up to you, but if it's your first time airsofting you don't necessarily need to drop over $100. Running or any athletic shoes would honestly be fine for your first time.

  • Same idea applies to the pants and shirt. If you really want them, don't let anyone here stop you, but jeans and a shirt would do you just fine.

As for a vest, given the stuff you've already picked out, the obvious choice would be a Condor MOPC in black. Plate carriers are generally highly modular, so with some additional MOLLE pouches you can set up your rig however you want.

    Edit: model, not brand
u/Ipodk9 · 1 pointr/airsoft

Quick question, do you think I could use an over shoulder speaker/mic with this kind of radio? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001WMFYH4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1K8GGN0TNB5LY&coliid=IFIHTVET24H0B&psc=1

If so, what kind of over the shoulder mic would you recommend? I want to be able to hear it and have good quality, but under 30 dollars would be nice as well.

u/names_are_for_losers · 1 pointr/airsoft

Yeah there are a few good options for eyepro in the $15-20 area, anything Pyramex with the right ratings or these too. Cheap doesn't necessarily = bad even if there are nicer goggles out there.

u/darxx · 1 pointr/airsoft

Little late for tuesday, but i've found some cheap red dots on amazon and i wanted to know if they were worth the purchase or not / which one is better?

http://www.amazon.com/Aim-Sports-Sight-Different-Reticles/dp/B002ZVFF20/

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Arms-Gear-Tactical-Weaver-Picatinny/dp/B003NFI092/

or should i try for a used sight somewhere?

u/wemblinger · 1 pointr/airsoft

Sorry dude, I've long since sold or given away everything else. Try some Arena Flakjack goggles, Savephace or similar, they're cheap and pretty good. If you coat the inside with cat crap that will help a lot with fogging.

u/artist508 · 1 pointr/airsoft

Get the Save Phace Grunts. They are a copy of the X800, but actually made in the USA and meet safety standards. The X800s are nice but 4x the cost of the grunts.

u/Tomasfoolery · 2 pointsr/airsoft

I am using amazon only due to ease of linking, please do not think I am suggesting you use them.

The battery I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DVVECS

The smart charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AVUAVC

Other people will probably point you in a better direction to buy, but if you want to use amazon, go ahead.

u/Luissen · 1 pointr/airsoft

if you're going to buy an optic, first determine if you need one to begin with. Iron sights are perfectly serviceable, though getting a proper cheek weld can be problematic with a paintball mask or an unfitted/untrimmed mesh mask.

spend $20ish and buy something like an aimsports-elcheapo-dot and take the time to zero it.

If you wear glasses, or have an Astigmatism affecting your vision, the dot may appear blurry or 'starburst'. to mitigate this, use the lowest tolerable brightness that you can still quickly acquire. If you still experience starbursting, you need a better quality optic.

I highly recommend looking into the lower end of 'real steel' quality sights such as this Bushnell for $70

to zero, clamp your gun in a vice and shoot at a piece of paper a few times on semi at the range you wish to engage at. use the hex wrench to move the center of the dot over the center of the group of holes, then draw a dot on the paper and shoot for the dot. if you hit the dot or close enough, its zeroed, otherwise, repeat until it is.

u/hparamore · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Yep :) both invest in some anti fog goggles, as well as the spray from amazon. It works so well, it is crazy.

I have always had a problem with fogging, both for this, or snorkeling, or snowboarding. this stuff here has been amazing and life changing for me.

Make sure you follow the instructions though, including spraying on, letting dry a bit, and then buffing.

u/LowBerryy · 2 pointsr/airsoft

wait for the eotech and see then. don't go wasting money with a prebuy. that being said this is a good one. might not be long enough for the eotech though. otherwise almost any brand riser works. utg is a good one though

u/Guthix70 · 1 pointr/airsoft

These are probably outside of your pricerange, considering the cost of the gun, but they're the best full facemask that you can buy.

u/MattyB-02 · 1 pointr/airsoft

This is what I currently use on my Avalon right now... I enjoy it but wish it had a 1-4x instead.

This will probably be my next purchase. Always having 3x zoom isnt the best...

u/x3z8 · 11 pointsr/airsoft

The G&G CM16 Raiders are some of the best beginner guns there are. If you have Amazon Prime you can get one for just under $150.

u/cameronabab · 1 pointr/airsoft

This Dagger Defense one is awesome for the price. I love mine to death

u/Minizman12 · 1 pointr/airsoft

I have almost a full squad using them and they hardly ever fog with the top foam removed. If you are at all worried about fog I suggest getting this: http://www.wide-i.com/delta.php

The other option is to get a goggle like this: https://www.amazon.com/Bolle-Safety-X800i-Tactical-Goggles/dp/B003ICKCJQ

Which has a lens slightly lifted off the frame which allows a ton of airflow. One guy on my squad uses these and says they're fantastic.

u/zer0man13 · 1 pointr/airsoft

Thanks for the link. Would there be any difference between the G36C and the K36C? Or is it essentially the same gun, just a newer version?

I prefer the G36C platform over the M4 platform, even though both are excellent platforms.

u/Hobbit_Girl · 3 pointsr/airsoft

I use cat crap(http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002ZNA488) on my goggles, and even for my cheap loan out googles it prevents them from fogging. Also I personally love wearing my mesh mask with low profile goggles underneath (such as revision exosheilds), but the screen door isn't for everyone.

What ever you end up using make absolutely sure they are anzi Z87 rated.

I have that G36, plastic gearbox, the spring option is meh at best. Throw another $30 and get a JG here Or a CYMA here

The performance difference is very noticeable.

u/SysShtDwn · 3 pointsr/airsoft

Wow, for the much just keep en eye out for a used Dye I4 mask or just get it new. All masks or even just goggles will affect aiming down sights and most will require a riser for the sight to see properly.

u/AllergicOrchid4 · 7 pointsr/airsoft

JG G36's can still be found on Amazon or Airsoftmegastore. Very nice rifles for the cheap price

u/dontthinkjustbid · 1 pointr/airsoft

I would look into this sight. Not one of the brands you hear often suggested but I have heard good things about it and that particular sight. Plus, it's a bit more on the affordable side of sights if you aren't looking to drop loads of cash on something you won't like or won't need.

u/LoveMunster · 3 pointsr/airsoft

Cat Crap Anti Fog works for me pretty well. I use it scuba diving and it is good down there. As far as airsoft is concerned, Revision Locusts can be had for cheap and without the foam they work for me.

The fieldsport optics are fine for airsoft guns. You might need a scope riser, such as this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TX2BD4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GA4CzbYGN0JKP

Don't know what you mean by you think the front sight will protect the sight.

I recommend getting the mid level riser so you can cowitness with iron sights. Believe it should be 0.83”. This one would work.

u/Safor001 · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Get something cheap. I bought this guy, if you want a red dot sight. If it breaks, I haven't lost that much money and can easily replace, but mine is metal and very tought, used it for a couple months now.

Assuming you are looking for a magnification scope, if you are really worried about durability there are a lot of mods and guides to give scopes and sights to make them withstand bb's. And you don't have to spend 1300 on a Trijicon, you can get a decent 4x for like 40+ dollars. If looks are your concern, maybe like 80-100 bucks. My sniper scope, which cost me about 30 dollars, has withstood a lot of punishing and like looks new. No scratching on the lens or anything. Just shop around, there are a lot of ways to go.

u/hikerjamesb · 1 pointr/airsoft

I used the Smith Optic turbo fans for awhile, but in the hot summers not even the fans couldn't keep up. Switched to low profile glasses for awhile and that was a huge mistake for me as well. Try a pair of floating lens.

My squad uses Midlands and I've never seen a problem with them.

This one I already have an adapter on it for regular tamiya to small tamiya

For the a little bit more OP could get this charger and this lipo. It's a little more expensive but in the long run it will be cheaper because you can get lipos off of Hobbyking for WAY less than you can NiMH batteries.

Doesn’t come with patch space in the front tho. I had someone sew that job

You can get molle stuff with pockets just as cheap.

Harness 1 or harness 2

+2x (3x pouch)

Different pouch.

Harness with pockets

Another harness with pockets

Or a vest

You can get all, or at least most of these in different colors. Even multicam.

Check out UTG scopes. They make great (for airsoft)(I have one of their red dot sights and it's really high quality) products that are designed for real steal weapons. So while they might be a budget brand for real firearms they are great for airsoft because there is no recoil or anything that would cause your sight to lose it's zero.

I know the one I linked is more expensive than the one you posted about but they have some that are less expensive than the one I linked.

Here's where I get wary of Amazon and external marketplace sellers. On the surface they look practically identical, in fact, I couldn't really see much of a difference and thought they were the same gun.

I pulled up the full site of the first gun here and pulled EGC-16P-RDS-BNB-NCM as the model number. Turns out, on a Google search, that is actually the shorty version of the M4, so you're looking at a 10"ish barrel that ends just past the handguards, vs the 2nd one you linked which is V622009. Construction seems the same on both, so it would be a matter of length.

Never use pliers to force open optics. It's a bad idea. For that matter, don't have pliers laying around for any gun-related maintenance.

20mm scopes are too small for any aftermarket rings. Your scope is now a paperweight, basically.

On a side note, I think that you should probably just stop investing money into this 'role'.

The thing is, if you don't at least get a VSR-10 clone (which you can upgrade the bucking with, the bare minimum for a sniper rifle worth using), you're basically wasting your time and money, because cheapo snipers are no better than or possibly even worse than cheap spring rifles which you can get for a fraction of the price.

A Cybergun spring FAMAS can actually outshoot a UTG Master Sniper by a decent margin consistently (even if its FPS is lower), and the FAMAS is only $40.

In order to even make the scope investment worth it, you have to at least match AEG accuracy, which you can't do on a cheap sniper that has a poorly machined barrel and a bad proprietary hop-up.
