> What are some differences in bonus content released for the UK that wasn't released for the US?

In general we don't get much bonus content, and certainly I cannot think of a case where we got more. Case in point would be the collectors edition of Fate/Zero part 1 on Blu-ray; in the UK it costs £5 more than UK regular edition and comes with...... a nice box :P.

My point with Madoka was that (at least a few years ago) a lot of the things that would be very expensive for the USA and sold in small volumes and sometimes with bonus content were sold in UK in complete collections with no bonuses at a cheaper price per episode. Mostly that came down to Aniplex US in the US, and no company with a similar business model in the UK. Now in the UK (and USA?) there are more collectors editions with actual stuff in and various imports or shared print runs with AUS, USA; though with the increase in quantity of releases I'm afraid I can't easily compare all the different recent UK releases to the US releases that I am relatively ignorant on. But with all of them (except for one special case that has been repeatedly delayed for up to almost a year now) not one anime TV-series release in the UK comes with the soundtrack of the show.

My point is kinda meandering, so anyway, the UK Monogatari releases contain no physical bonus content, though the discs themselves are basically the same mastering as the US releases (so the UK Bakemonogatari release has the character commentary, and the Nisemonogatari release doesn't, just like the US). So no artbooks or postcards or whatever you get, but the price is generally better, currently its £37 (~$55) for the UK Bakemonogatari complete collection.

> I haven't looked into the Light Novels (or is there a Manga of the series too?), but have all the volumes/books been released for all regions in their respective languages?

The only source material is the light novels, don't think there is any spin off manga, there are a few short stories and drama CDs around the place though. Pretty much no region (apart from Japan) has releases of any of the light novels bar one (Monogatari is a niche (if very popular niche) series with a small fanbase compared to for example: Naruto, Sword Art Online or Attack on Titan). Monogatari as a whole is notoriously difficult to translate, which is also why its anime release has the unusual situation of not having a English dub. Only 3 days ago or so the chronologically first (release second) light novel "Kizumonogatari" was released in the US (and apparently UK, but no copies in stock anywhere :/ ) under Viz media Vertical Inc., and if it does well they may continue with more licenses.

Bonus info: The translator apparently was supervised by Nisioisin's "Editor and crew" to make sure it got across the nuance. It is relatively late for a release to occur now (Kizu came out in May 2008 in Japan, fan translation had been around for a while) but its justified and I don't think anyone is complaining, if you wanna see more officially translated light novels then buy Kizumonogatari!

> Any website(s) you would personally recommend for supporting official releases for Monogatari and Light Novels in general?

I mean, buying the copies of releases of anime and novel in your local region helps, and buying/importing merchandise of the series (figures, art books, ect..) would equally indirectly help out too. Arguably, the best thing to support the original content would be to buy everything straight from the source, but you kinda need to know Japanese to get any value for yourself out of doing that :P.

Crunchyroll has lots of the Monogatari series on it officially, and while not necessarily the best place you can also buy official merchandise from their website too. If you are signed in and watching stuff on CR, some value of your subscription does make it back to the production committee's of the anime you watch, plus they get data on what people like.

> Would it be worth checking out the Light Novels after the anime (does it go more in detail)? Sites to read the the light novels on ?

Probably, though I've yet to read any of them myself. But due to its translation difficulty we don't actually have that much of it fan-translated yet, it may even be the case that the anime will be finished and translated in full even before the fan translations of the novels.

I want to point out that while there isn't much available legally atm, asking for websites to support the Monogatari series and then immediately asking for websites to read the light novels on is kinda ironic :P.

> P.S. The text panels that flash in and out of episodes, are those placed as another element of the quick paced delivery of the anime or are there to explain in detail excerpts from the Light Novels?

Kinda both I guess ? There isn't a straight up answer to why they do it, but they are often excerpts from the light novel, normally introspective thoughts of Araragi or the current narrator. There are some funny details in them along the way that are cool to read (such as commenting is Tsukimonogatari that their bathroom is not as big as the anime suggests, its just a normal sized Japanese bathroom) and some are there just to be arty or make a joke, but I wouldn't go too out your way to read them all. Up to a point this style was done in Bakemonogatari to save money/production time, some of them literally say "Missing scene" or "Missing Frames", a kinda budget/time conscious artistic choice that paid off I guess :3. An example of something similar (time saving technique becomes art style) in Kill La Kill can be seen explained here (specifically at 42:20).

yes, definitely
Shaft stay pretty faithful the the novel, like really really faithful. But they still have to cut down contents since there is a limit, these mostly include conversations or monologues that can be reason out with contexts. So the novel will give you a much deeper understanding of what happen without you having to going over the anime and think about it
The one novel that I'd recommend the most is Kizu, since Shaft gave themselves quite a bit of creative freedom and deviate from the novel slightly.
Also, I highly recommend the boxset, the price fluctuate recently, at lowest it's $43, that's a steal imo

Kizunaiver and Death Parade look quite interesting. I'll definitely give Nisioisin's other works a look, too.

I also went a head and bought the [MONOGATARI Series Box Set Limited Edition] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1947194399/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) from amazon today. I was a little hesitant because I'm not sure how well the translations turned out, but it seems most people rate em pretty well. Looking forward to getting a deeper look into Monogatari.

Thank you!

I live in Poland so nothing either but I just ordered it from Amazon US and it will arrive on friday or next week.

You can also order it from Amazon UK/DE but they're more expensive options thanks to sale.

Remember to click on New and choose amazon as seller.

u/Robin997 · 3 pointsr/araragi

Really? Literally the first two links when I googled "Kizumonogatari Light Novel Amazon":

https://www.amazon.de/KIZUMONOGATARI-Wound-Tale-NISIOISIN/dp/1941220975/

https://www.amazon.de/BAKEMONOGATARI-Part-1-Monster-Tale/dp/1942993889/

If you are a foreigner like I am, it's useful to set your Language Google Search settings to include English results.

EDIT: I guess you mean that Amazon shipping is kind of rough. In that case, I can't really help you, as I don't know any German shops or sites that sort shops.

I have the old (bad) translations of Hitagi Crab and Mayoi Snail from Baka-Tsuki if you want, and I'm sure that with enough digging there are some other sites that people exploit to upload those translations.

u/eccp · 2 pointsr/araragi

Definitely it shows available on Amazon.co.uk, but you should look in the one that matches your country (or closest):

To give color to the other side of the Kizu order argument, watching Kizu right after Bake capitalizes on peak curiosity for what happened over spring break. Yeah the style is totally different from the rest of the show, but that doesn't mean you have to watch it separately. At the end of the day, the author intended Kizu to be where it was - in between Bake and Nise - and he revealed information based on that fact.

Additionally, because the movies omit some really good bits I would personally recommend also reading the translated Kizumonogatari light novel

  1. List of all novels published/announced so far in Japan: https://www.reddit.com/r/araragi/wiki/order#wiki_book_order. Everything up to Zoku Owarimonogatari has been animated.
  2. Everything up to Koimonogatari has been officially translated into English by Vertical.
  3. Each novel is $10-$15, but you can buy the First Season Box Set (the first 7 English novels) for $60-$70 and save some money.
  4. That's Musubimonogatari, which won't be officially translated for another 1-2 years. So far, there's been no word on any anime adaptations past Zoku Owarimonogatari, but the chief director (Akiyuki Shinbou) has expressed interest in animating the rest of the novels.
u/TheTimerPlays · 5 pointsr/araragi

the novel box set is special edition and comes with the nice box not just the novels
it is much cheaper on spanish amazon tho

u/Kitten-sama · 13 pointsr/araragi

Just FYI: According to Amazon, OWARIMONOGATARI part 1 is due mid-December. Maybe a good thing to spend that 10% RightStuf coupon on.

u/Ralon17 · 1 pointr/araragi

Huh, that's weird, because it looks just like [this] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00MCKN832/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1419568476&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=61bkvTYBpVL&ref=plSrch ), which says blu-ray. I figured it was the "UK import" from the other link. But thanks, I got my answer. Expensive or not, I think I'm going to get the box set.

u/TiffyS · 2 pointsr/araragi

Search this url on the internet wayback machine. There's also an older PDF version on readfag's wordpress. Those are both variations of Baka-Tsuki's translations though. From what I hear Vertical's official translation is superior.

If it even exists, I don't know where one could acquire a digital download of Vertical's official translation. You can find the official paperback and audio book on Amazon and the audio book is possible to find online if you know where to look.

edit: I found the EPUB version of Vertical's translations released by Ozymandias that was referenced above.

u/cyanfolds · 10 pointsr/araragi

Kizumonogatari's the only one in English so far. It's really easy to order off [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/KIZUMONOGATARI-Wound-Tale-NISIOISIN/dp/1941220975) or pick up at [Barnes & Nobel] (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/kizumonogatari-nisioisin/1122858310)

u/Ra5han · 2 pointsr/araragi

There's this cheaper blu-ray version and this even cheaper dvd version

I'm fairly sure that it has English subtitles since it's mentioned in the description. But my Japanese is not good enough to judge if it's 100% certain, there's always the possibility that I'm wrong. I hope this is helpful.

u/Haustinj · 2 pointsr/araragi

this is really nice. I'm gonna start collecting more seriously once I get away from my roommates.

edit: you convinced me to buy my first figure. I got this cheap but beautiful Madogatari Heart-Under-Blade "Devil Homura" version on amazon.

amazon

u/MobileTortoise · 61 pointsr/araragi

Just a heads up everyone, Amazon has the price down 40% right now. Normally it's $106, but they have it down to $65!!!

Link here

u/Linard · 2 pointsr/araragi

Links for the countries I checked:

  • US
  • UK
  • DE
  • FR
  • ES

But realistically they should be available everywhere where Vol.1 is available as well.
u/ThatRandomEditor · 5 pointsr/araragi

According to Amazon, Vol. 1 will be out on June 27, 2017 while Vol. 2 will be out on August 22, 2017

u/RudeboyTy · 9 pointsr/araragi

Here's the amazon link for Bake part 1 if you want it.

u/prrg · 1 pointr/araragi

Here. If your country has Amazon, you may want to check it out on your region to see if it is cheaper buying directly from the country. It also takes less time to ship it.

You put normal online shipping stuff. Payment info (credit card info, paypal address, whatever you choose) and your address.

u/Adamu-San781 · 1 pointr/araragi

I bought the box set on amazon here

u/rickyhorror · 1 pointr/araragi

So far, according to amazon.co.jp, the BD doesn't come with any subtitles. ]':

Link

u/djrubbie · 1 pointr/araragi

It's becoming more common to have Japan releases include the English subtitles especially for those that have overseas showing in English speaking countries. For whatever reason the amazon.jp listing haven't been updated to specify what tracks are available. However there are examples, such as the Love Live! The School Idol Movie listing showing the language being in Japanese (日本語) and subtitles in English (英語) under the product description.

u/jordoanime · 2 pointsr/araragi

I just did some more Googling, turns out you can just order it from amazon.co.jp and they ship internationally.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/araragi

Don't believe the book in the picture Is the English translation. And you're absolutely right, the English translated one comes out in October 1st

u/Cry_Chuunibyou · 2 pointsr/araragi

This is a DVD UK import! You can buy them direct at amazon.co.uk in germany it just takes a little longer. Here is the link

u/maxdefolsch · 3 pointsr/araragi

There's an official English translation by the publisher Vertical now that is currently translating all the novels, the latest one to have been published is Tsukimonogatari, and they're pumping a new one every 2-3 months roughly. You can buy them on Amazon, for example.

Also, if you're up for it, they grouped the first novels into a First Season Box Set, and a Second Season Box Set is also available for pre-order (but will only come out at the end of the year).

u/ZinkerFish · 1 pointr/araragi

Nademonogatari was announced for July. Now if only we could faster translations, Vertical. Just noticed this. Pre-ordered.

u/Xilient · 2 pointsr/araragi

Is this the only one in the series with an official translation?

I just found it on amazon if anyone was wondering.

u/wyvernx02 · 1 pointr/araragi

>Let's check Amazon... Out of stock, you say?

Ya, I have a copy on backorder. I have been waiting so long for an English release of any of the books.

u/rtwpsom2 · 2 pointsr/araragi

Overstock.com has it for $11.30 today but won't ship until January of 2099. It might be faster on Amazon Prime.

u/Drilling4mana · 3 pointsr/araragi

I don't know about OP, but I got mine from Amazon

u/minesman · 2 pointsr/araragi

Here's a link to a box set with them all.

If you don't want to wait until December 17th for the set, here's each of them individually: Neko White, Kabuki, Hana, Otori, Oni, and Koi.

u/AnatoleSerial · 2 pointsr/araragi

I think there will be more info on this once the big 2016 cons start rolling around. My observations indicate that Kizu was very well received, but that's just on social media.

Let's check Amazon... Out of stock, you say? Ranking high in the right categories, you say?

In my most humble opinion, Vertical would be a fool not to release more volumes. ;)

u/Stian838 · 2 pointsr/araragi

Bought it on Amazon UK - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bakemonogatari-Collection-Blu-ray-Akiyuki-Shinbo/dp/B00MCKN832/ - but this is region locked to Europe/Australia as far as I know. (you can also buy directly from MVM - the company releasing monogatari in EU - http://www.anime-on-line.com/xcart/product.php?productid=25083)

I can send you a small cut of an episode/one whole episode if you have a somewhat fast connection or some screenshots if you want, but it seems to be using the same font as the one that is on Crunchyroll (the subs seem to be the same, maybe a bit updated in some places)
