They're pretty good! The 598s were my first pair of "audiophile" headphones and to be honest I was pretty blown away when I first got them (not to hype up your expectations too much though so keep them tempered) I primarily use my 598 for gaming (Overwatch mostly) and listening to music @ my desk. Not a lot of bass (basically none) but the soundstage is still pretty impressive because there were a few times I've been fooled to think a roommate was knocking on my door when it's really coming from a video.

Listen to them for a while and if you ever feel like "upgrading", maybe look into a USB DAC like the [E10K]( https://www.amazon.ca/FiiO-Olympus-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=e10k&qid=1563292389&s=gateway&sr=8-1 ). I bought it a year into using my HD 598s and the sound improvement was marginal but very noticeable (on a laptop at least lol). I've had them for a while so I definitely want to upgrade with a shiny new toy, but can't ever justify it because they've held up so well.

If you're looking for good audio with an attached microphone, this is definitely the one to get. If you don't need all the frills of the Cloud, the Cloud Core is only $59 on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0153XL4V2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473300999&sr=8-1&keywords=hyperx+headset

Alternatively, Cloud II has USB adapter for 7.1 audio and a better headband, definitely worth the price.

https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCXWG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473300999&sr=8-2&keywords=hyperx+headset

After going through almost half a dozen pairs of gaming headphones, I don't think I could go back after using the HyperX. It's comfortable, light, sounds amazing, and has a good microphone.

Given the fact that you use your PC for many purposes, AMD Ryzen's multitasking capacbilities might come in handy.

This is especially true since it seems from your post that you'll be running Plex in the background while doing something else. Being able to have a few cores dedicated to it while not affecting your workload would surely be beneficial.

If you're willing to wait one week, Ryzen 2 should be out by then. Otherwise, I'd look into the R7 1700. FYI, its price went down to 300$ the other day.

If you want to go intel, I'd go 8700K. Given your workloads, you'll benefit from having more cores/threads.

u/Orage42 · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Actually the M.2 interface is a new connector found on new motherboards, it uses PCIe lanes but not the slot itself.

You can still use the 960 M.2, but you'd need to buy an adapter such as this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Rivo-Riser-Extender-Drvie-Adapter/dp/B01N09W21D/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526389547&sr=8-1&keywords=pcie+to+m.2+adapter

I would recommend the Corsair MX500, the 500gb is currently $154 on amazon, which is a great price. https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-500GB-NAND-Internal/dp/B0784SLQM6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1526389685&sr=1-1&keywords=mx500

The 250gb is even cheaper and under $100, but having headroom for game storage is always welcome!

To finish my build, I'm looking at:

ADATA XPG SX8200 480GB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe (129.99)
https://m.canadacomputers.com/product.php?id=123218

EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G3, 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular (97.00 = 117.00-20 MIR)
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B005BE058W/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

These prices seem pretty good. I'm thinking at best it'll be $20 off the current price on BF/Cyber Monday. Do you guys think it's worth waiting? I want to save every penny.m

u/kerr_philip · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

good way to save money if you won't be overclocking and want the best stock chip, anyone who isn't aware though, the 1700 is the same chip/silicon as the 1800x , if you get lucky on the silicon you could overclock a 1700 to the same 4.0 Ghz that the others can hit and save money. ( some chips have gone higher, but most cant go beyond 4.0 )

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06WP5YCX6/?tag=pcp0f-20
$414 dollars plus taxes

You can easily google a guide to overclock ryzen or get help in reddit

u/mightyUSwarlord · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I don't know about VA, but I think 144 hz IPS would beat a 144hz TN in picture quality and the difference for gaming would be marginal at best with a higher response time but identical refresh rates. I don't think anything below 5ms response time is noticeable, so a monitor like this acer is what you describe. I might hold out for one like that personally since I like to keep my monitors for 5 years+, and TN isn't new technology. Current ones are going on about 9 years...

Edit: cleaned up that link since it upset the mod bot. That price on that acer monitor is the lowest it's been on amazon, and it's the same at Best Buy. Might have to pick that up instead.

u/Maxpowerfreak · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

This is now also available from Amazon at the same price (black only): https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B071YZJ1G1/

To the people hesitating between the OG MX Master and the 2S, I highly recommend the 2S. Better battery life (rated for 70 days if used 8hrs/day), the programmable thumb button per app has some unexpected advantages (I have it do some shortcuts on my IDE depending on motion) if you take some time to set it up. It sounds gimmicky but I ended up loving it. My girlfriend has it switch between sheets on Excel, and control music settings from the desktop.

Of course, all of this can be accomplished through keyboard shortcuts but this makes it faster/easier and doesn't require you to do crazy DDR moves with your fingers.

u/TheGutsyBat · 5 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Not the biggest sale by any means, but I guess it's better than nothing. Ebates is at 1% for Newegg.ca so you can save a tiny bit there too.

$393.74 total after taxes and free shipping. Amazon.ca reduced the price today too, but you're paying both taxes there.

Waiting for big savings on that 2700X or an eBay coupon (Though the 2700X is mysteriously not listed in the Newegg Canada eBay store).

I'm building a new high end pc from the ground up. Should I be taking advantage of any of these sales? I feel like the mouse and power supply are automatic purchases but I'm a newbie so I wanted to see if I can get any help here first. Sorry if this is filling up the discussion post.

SSD

I read that the crucial's aren't good because once you reach 75% capacity it dramatically slows your pc down? Also, don't know if external SSDs are recommended but should I bite on that SanDisk?

Samsung 1TB 860 EVO

Crucial P1 1TB m.2 SSD

SanDisk 1TB Portable External SSD

Power Supply

Corsair RM850x, 850 Watt Gold Certified Fully Modular Power Supply

Cooler

I don't even know if I will need a coouler, and if I want to go liquid cooling route, and I don't care about RGB, but for a high end pc I'm assuming I should buy?

Corsair H115i RGB Platinum AIO Liquid CPU Cooler

Mouse

This seems like the best deal on a mouse no?

Logitech® MX Master 2S Wireless Mouse

RAM

Was actually looking for 32GB RAM, should I pass since if I go AMD mobo route, having to use more than 2 will cause a slowdown right?

Ballistix Elite 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 3600 MT/s

I currently have my OS and a few games on a 256 GB Samsung 960. Most games and other files are on a 7200 rpm 512 gb HDD. I mostly use my PC for gaming, some video downloads (no monster 4K files), and I dont do any media editing.

I am looking to upgrade the HDD to a 1TB SSD. Ideally it would be M.2 NVMe but open to other options. I have the option to ship US products to a US address and grab them.

I am looking for recommendations on what drive would fit best.

From brief research I've found the following:
Sabrent rocket (USD 100) - https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Rocket-Internal-Performance-SB-ROCKET-1TB/dp/B07LGF54XR

ADATA su800 (USD 133) - https://www.amazon.com/ADATA-SU800-Ultimate-Solid-ASU800NS38-1TT-C/dp/B01MR7FVM9/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=sx8200+pro&qid=1562260212&s=gateway&sprefix=sx82&sr=8-3

XPG sx8200 pro (USD 140) - https://www.amazon.com/XPG-SX8200-Gen3x4-3000MB-ASX8200PNP-1TT-C/dp/B07K1J3C23/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=sx8200+pro&qid=1562260377&s=gateway&sprefix=sx82&sr=8-1

Your title's there to stay. As for the text, you can edit that. [link](URL) to make a clickable link, if you wish.

Side note: tax% is dependent on province, so you'd be better off not listing it next time ;)

E: punctuation. Few more points:

- 133 is the regular price for a 1TB P1;

- 125 isn't the cheapest we've seen the thing, but it's still on sale;

- The SP P34A80 is a better buy

- Please don't downvote the man (woman?) for asking a legitimate question!

u/Computerknight54 · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

What budget are you looking at?

If you're cheap Refurbished Logitech G230 I used a set of these and was pretty happy with them aside from the clamping pressure on the head. Mic was decent and cord was very long.

Next I'd say the HyperX cloud Stinger which usually is in the $50-$65 range.

A little bit more money gets the Corsair HS50 These are pretty good and don't scream GAMER

A little bit better, the HyperX cloud cores are no longer quite the "budget" option they were a few years back, sadly the price has gone up, they're still decent.

You can also find the HyperX Cloud IIs on sale for around $95-$99 which come with some extras. Sadly they're not on sale right now and I can't recommend them at current prices.

Over $100 The Sennheiser GSP 302 are good (I'm using them right now), mic is great, decently comfy, and sound decent. I believe they are based of the old HD558 drivers but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Anything higher than these I'd go with standalone headphones and a dedicated microphone, but I don't really have any experiance with those so someone else should chime in.

u/Pehowell · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I've been thinking about finally upgrading my RAM. Currently only have 8GB at a fairly low speed. Not sure exactly, maybe DDR4 2400 (or lower). Anyway, Two of the most recent RAM related posts on this subreddit caught my attention. One suggested Micron Rev-E as the best bang-for-the-buck option currently on the market. Specifically, this one.
And then a couple of days later, somebody posted this and everybody said it was basically the best RAM that money can buy right now... so here's my question: If my budget is about $200, and I've got a basic "power user with some gaming" use-case, would I be better off with 32GB of the former, or 16GB of the latter?

u/queefin_it_real · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I'd keep an eye on Amazon. From camelcamelcamel, it looks like it frequently goes down to $44. You can also pricematch at Best Buy, since official products like this usually have the same sku.

u/xjin0120 · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Can I install these ram on the original motherboard? These are 3200 ones.

And will this power supply fit?

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with New HDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-G3-0750-X1 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B005BE058W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RzrkDbSED63CW

Thanks in advance!
Sorry, not very familiar with high end desktop.

Overall it is a decent deal but they still have the Silicon Power 1tb for $145. Not sure if it is tax free or not but it is an identical drive for the most part for 5 bucks less :)

The HyperX Cloud Core is also on sale for $59.99+tax on Amazon as well. I just got myself a pair and they're pretty nice.

u/clamchoda · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

$8 more bucks, and the FTW3 on "pre-order" over at amazon. I got one on preorder as well but it took like 3 weeks to ship. This used to go on sale for $960 + a game so often :(

PS - Amazon orders that are Temporarily out of stock allow you to pay now locked in at this price, and get it when its in stock. The down fall of this is there is it could end up being a very long time or canceled. I've personally never had one canceled though.

u/jep4444 · 3 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Unless you're using a Thunderbolt enclosure, the enclosure will severely bottleneck most drives anyways. Unless you're writing large chunks of files, you'll never notice a difference inside an enclosure.

If you do upgrade the machine, you may or may not notice a difference. $100 faster? probably not. There are cheaper drives in between as well that perform closer to the Samsung than the Intel like the Silcon Power P34A80 for $155. The 660p isn't a bad drive, it's just cheap for a reason but as long as you don't do long writes and don't fill it up too much, it's pretty solid.

u/Magneon · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I had a $40 pair of turtle beeches that fell apart and sounded ok.

I now have HyperX Clouds and they're fantastic.
Cloud core

The "HyperX Cloud I" is $85 now, and is the same as the Cloud Core, but with a bunch of extra cables, a nicer box, and a 2nd set of pads (velour).

u/askariya · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Can't you just get the Wireless one for cheaper?https://www.amazon.ca/Xbox-One-Wireless-Controller-Black/dp/B01LPZM7VI/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Microsoft+XBOX+One+controller&qid=1557435273&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Unless you prefer wired.

Also I'd recommend getting the Keepa extension, easy way to see the price history of everything on Amazon as you browse.

According to it, that $53 is actually a markup from the usual $49.

u/arien12 · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Looking to upgrade my core components, and likely pick up a 1tb NVMe drive.

So far I'm thinking:

  • R5 3600

  • Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite

  • Crucial Ballistics sport 3200 (2x8gb)

  • Silicon Power 1tb TLC NVMe

    I was looking at cheaper motherboards, like B450 and X470, but none of them seem to have the number of back panel USB ports that I need. I also need one that will support Ryzen 3 out of the box, as I'm coming from an Intel platform.

    Think I'll see much of a sale on these parts come Back Friday? Is there a better/cheaper option I've overlooked?

    Edit: I have a CM Hyper 212 Evo cooler in my current build, would this be ok for moderate overclocking the 3600? Would CM send me a new AM4 bracket for my old cooler?

No, keep the 850 in your PC, and put in this drive instead:
https://www.amazon.ca/ADATA-Ultimate-Su800-Internal-ASU800SS-512GT-C/dp/B01K8A29CS

Better performance and way better durability, so would take this over the A400.

Also, if you have an NVME slot, I would just get a good NVME drive if possible over an 860 Evo/Pro.

Considering you already have an 850 Evo/Pro in your main PC, that means if you don't want additional storage, I would move the 850 to the console, and get yourself a 1-2TB SDD for your main drive. Preferably an NVME SSD for higher sustained performance and lower latencies overall.

Its an i5 8250u + touchscreen, for $529 what do you mean

If you can find a similarly spec'd laptop near this price let me know

With that logic this is the best deal ever

u/fearmywrench · 19 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

For comparison, the higher model is $30 more at $159.99 https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX500-500GB-NAND-Internal/dp/B0784SLQM6/

The BX300 seems really good for the price too though, just worth noting the difference in price for other options

The eligible resellers are:

Amazon.com*<br />
Micro Center Computers &amp;amp; Electronics<br />
Newegg.com*<br />
```<br />
Yes, it also says it is eligible for Canadians (except Quebec), BUT that doesn't necessarily mean Amazon.ca and Newegg.ca. The 1700 and 1700X listed on amazon.com do ship to Canada, for example.<br />
<br />
Furthermore, if you go to the US listing for the 1700 and 1700X, it shows the rebate form listed, i.e. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Cooler-YD1700BBAEBOX/dp/B06WP5YCX6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;qid=1525291567&amp;amp;sr=8-1&amp;amp;keywords=1700<br />
... whereas the Amazon.ca doesn't show this.<br />
<br />
<br />
TLDR; non-Quebec Canadian residents are likely eligible, BUT you may have to purchase through the US websites with international shipping to Canada. I think they could deny you the rebate if you purchase through Amazon.ca or Newegg.ca.<br />
<br />
=== UPDATE ===<br />
I emailed AMD Promos.<br />
<br />
My email:<br />
&amp;gt;I see the current AMD promo for the 1700 and 1700X. I am Canadian. It says that Canadian residents are eligible (excluding Quebec), and lists &quot;Amazon.com&quot; and &quot;Newegg.com&quot; as eligible resellers. Does Amazon.com include Amazon's Canadian subsidiary, Amazon.ca? And does Newegg.com include Newegg's Canadian subsidiary, Newegg.ca? Or do I (as a Canadian) need to purchase through Amazon.com with international shipping to Canada to use this promo?<br />
<br />
Response:<br />
&amp;gt; Thank you for your request.On 2018-05-02 16:XX:XX,  XXX of AMDPromos Customer Support has responded to your ticket no. 61052XXX **Unfortunately it is for US only.**<br />
<br />
**UPDATED TLDR; you can't use Amazon.ca or Newegg.ca to purchase this. You must use the American websites!**<br />
If you're looking at that 1060, its showing about 330 after MIR,
This 8gb 580 is 317 with free shipping from amazon:
Is the Acer Predator XB271HU the 1440p, IPS, G-SYNC monitor to get when Black Friday deals come around? I want one with the least amount of QC issues. I know the AOC and ASUS versions use the same panel and I just want to get one that will be the least hassle.
Thanks!
u/bigporcupine · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada
that's my exact setup. 598SE with modmic. I use this E10K
Works very well.
Edit: Just noticed you want mic input as well. The E10K doesn't 'have this, but never found that to be an issue going straight to my PC.
If you need something smaller, you can find the PECHAM Gaming Mouse Pad on amazon.ca at 31in x 12in. I've used it for almost two years. It costs $17 and only has its brand on one corner of the mat. Spec wise its identical to the Corsair one, just not as long.
If you need a 36in x 12in pad and don't want any logos or brand, there is the Vipamz Extended Xxxl also on Amazon for $17.
Both of these are machine washable and have stitched 'anti-fray' edges
Seems like it’s sold out at the moment, but use the link below to change the capacity to 512gb, and the style to M.2 PCIe 1800mb/s. Make sure you buy from ADATA as the seller in order to get it tax-free
I just bought this one a couple weeks back when it was 154.99
Silicon Power 1TB NVMe PCIe... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07L6GF81L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It's the same as a Corsair mp510, except cheaper price due to brand name. Still comes with 5 year warranty. Bought a $16 heatsink for it too though. Happy with my purchase.
Why even spend $330 when you can save four bucks and get a factory overclocked card?
Which would be better for a RYZEN 3600?
u/-Al-ex- · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada
It's going for $960 on Amazon right now which appears to be a record low on 3camels.
Also you've got Amazon's extended holiday return policy and the ease of Amazon returns in general going for you if the price does later drop over BF / CM.
u/Matt1drew · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada
I'm looking at this video card which is normally $350 but on amazon, a so called new seller has the card for $265. my obviouse suspicion is that this is some sort of scam/rip off, but on the other hand all of amazons products are covered by the A-to-Z guarantee. So should I purchase the card from that seller?
u/ErikJHealey · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada
You're in luck Here is one %90 off!
Is the first seller on this list too good to be true?: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B06Y15DWXR/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;condition=new
$606 for a New GTX 1080ti is ridiculous...
u/NoobGamerRN · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada
Do we need this with game one and hd599? Thanks a lot!
u/ateddybear · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada
Need a new gaming headset, under $100.
Thinking of either the Kingston HyperX Cloud Core or the SteelSeries Arctis 3. Love the look of the Arctis but the Kingston is currently 26bucks cheaper.
Any thoughts on which I should pull the trigger on?
u/VaultTec391 · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada
SX8200 pro is a good value. If you wait until ADATA gets it back in stock you can get it for 161 with no tax.
