My adopted Bengal, Pearl, did it without training when I first brought her home (she was 1). She would drop the toy at a little distance from me and unfortunately, I tried to train her to bring it closer. Instead, I somehow extinguished the behavior completely, as she decided that "closer" really meant "drop it." Now, I'm working on it again, starting with praising her a lot every time she just picks up the toy when I throw it. Otherwise, she'll pounce and run toward the toy, but not always even pick it up. I really think it's a lot of fun for her watching me run back and forth and get down on my knees to get it myself each time I throw it! But there have been a few times when she brings it right back, and they seem a little more frequent, so that's progress.

I'm not really a trainer, but according to the little I've read, giving praise as I do for even the tiniest movement toward the end goal is how to do it. And then once the minimal behavior is established, then you can up the ante and only praise when she takes it a little bit further toward the end goa I should add that when I first got her I always praised her heavily when I fed her or when she was enjoying being petted. Now, just praise alone is a great treat for her, which I think will help motivate her during future fetch training.

I haven't finished reading it, but The Trainable Cat seems like a great book with lots of ideas and tips, and background understanding so you know better how your cat sees the world.

It's like a hamster wheel for cats, bengals tend to love them. And you don't have to get a second bengal, a second cat of any breed would probably be good. You also don't have to get a second cat lol.

Other than someone taking the cat, it's not more of a risk than other cats. I do think other cats being outdoor cats are too much of a risk for them as well. That said there are alternatives for letting a cat enjoy the outdoors without giving them free roam such as harness training them, having a catio for them, or a cat proof fenced in house (which is by far the most expensive and not doable without a ton of property surrounding the house but it is possible lol)

Here are some toy suggestions to help with your kittens energy:

this wand toy which I've seen make even the laziest cat chase after I don't know what it is about this toy specifically maybe it's the leather tassels or the fur thing but I've never not seen it drive a cat crazy.

This cat ball track things

This cat dancer toy with the wall attachment Trust me that the wall attachment is super important.

Really thick pony tail elastics Be sure to watch her and make sure she doesn't try eating one.

Plastic water bottle caps, Christmas ornaments, and bouncy balls are also great things for cats to bat around when they're a bit bored.

Also things for her to climb on, a small cat tree is always great.

Good luck! And do keep in mind that she'll be less energetic as she gets older.

2, a laser pointer of course, and these guys: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00797JCJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

our bengal luuuuvs these. And this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Kong-Snake-Teaser-Pack-2/dp/B007B4WRM2/ref=sr_1_6?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1481460428&sr=1-6&keywords=snake+cat+toy
He catches it, and drags it off by the neck lol. But really they'll play with anything. The point is to give him options so that he's busy.
3. A tall cat tree is a great idea, ours loves his, but really our main problem is that to get our attention (seriously it's why he does it), he likes to get behind the tv and fuck w/the wires, or get between my desktop monitors and the wall and do the same. We've tried putting obstacles there, but he finds a way.
So really, just know that they generally always need/want your attention. It would help if there's another pet tbh, we've even entertained getting a puppy cause I think a dog or another bengal, so I think if the dog is cool w/cats, that will be the catalyst to a peaceful home w/a bengal. Good luck though, they're a handful, but incredibly intelligent. Have Fun!

Just guessing, but it sounds like you might not be stimulating the cat enough. I happen to have 3 kids so they keep the cat active. When our cat starts getting naughty we usually start playing with her. She really likes those mice attached to a thread attached to a stick, like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/OurPets-Play-N-Squeak-Dangle-Mouse-Interactive/dp/B001PIJJEO

Just sitting on the ground and flopping it around drives our cat crazy. My kids also take cardboard boxes and make "houses" out of them for the cat. The cat goes in and out of them and sleeps in them.

Usually our cat will play for about an hour or so, then she'll sleep for an hour or so. She does occasionally scratch the furniture and if she gets stuck on it we put a towel or something slippery over it so she can't do it anymore. I would try to distract your cat with good/fun things when she does something you don't want to do. Granted, this is a lot easier said than done. They become more calm with age.

Yeah, don't leave your drinks unattended. I personally won't drink out of a glass anymore (unless I'm going to watch it) because I know he'll stick his big dumb head into the glass and knock it over.

My best advice is first to avoid giving him time outs. Cats don't really understand the concept of punishment, regardless of the breed. A simple, firm "NO" (not yelling; just in a low voice) is enough. Alternatively, make a hissing noise at him whenever he does something bad and move him away from the area. He'll understand that better most likely. As other people have said, ignoring him is the best way. To cats, any attention is good attention, whether you intend for it to be negative or positive. Don't let him get your attention by knocking stuff over.

What I personally have done is given my bengal a larger bowl that he's able to dip his paws into. I bought a non-tip bowl for him and it's worked wonders. I purchased this bowl in the Medium size, giving him both enough room to drink out of and stick his paws into without making too much of a mess. I usually only fill it half way so he won't track around too much water. That way he has a way to play with water without trying to reach for my glass. If you give him a positive outlet for his natural curiosity for water, then you'll find he'll be more interested in his own bowl than your glass.

EDIT: My boy is around your cat's age as well, he's 11 months now. So I understand him being interested in literally everything you do, kittens are just nuts sometimes.

For the cat wheel, check craigslist, letgo, offerup, etc. Buy it second hand and get it for under $100 (list price is $200). I introduced my Bengal at about 18-20 weeks.

My kitten also LOVES these dollar toys: https://www.dollartree.com/greenbrier-kennel-club-plush-mouse-cat-toys-125-in/207358
They have a little jingly piece in there. They are without a doubt his favorite. He's destroyed 3 of them so far, but thankfully they're so cheap I can afford to replace them at will.

https://www.amazon.com/Bergan-Turbo-Scratcher-Colors-vary/dp/B000IYSAIW is a great scratcher/toy combo

My bengal is big on feather toys. Da Bird is hands down his favorite. He loves this thing. He also really likes the Kitty Kopter. We go through them regularly, but he'll toss them about on his own.

I can tell you what's NOT a winner: laser pointers. He's more interested in what's in my hand than the dot on the floor.

Not a brand, but I had better luck with the ones that were vest or "escape-proof", which don't seem to be the ones sold in PetSmart, which are considered H-type. Though those worked on my other generic tabby cats, my Bengal was too lean and could get right out of it. This one has worked for our girl: FUNPET Soft Mesh Dog Harness No Pull Comfort Padded Vest for Small Pet Cat and Puppy Yellow S https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JU4AEQQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oSh0BbNCFRJ78

She is about 7 pounds now, if that helps for size reference.

We spent a lot of money on toys but our bengals Tend to play with them briefly and ignore them.

The things they want to play with for longer are the cheapest - potato chip bags tied in a knot, thrown for them. Tie string around one and they go mad for that too. You can get these too which are inexpensive and they love

Colorful Springs Wide 10 Pk Ethical Pet https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000CMKHDG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Rlu0Cb7E64DVG

Combine any of these with a cat tunnel that makes crinkling sounds and you’re probably set.

Amazon has tons and tons of great cat trees.

I purchased this one: Go Pet Club 62-Inch Cat Tree https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007UI47PY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JDpODb823M01Y

Pretty reliable and relatively easy to construct. My 10/11month old bengals both go nuts on it daily.

u/jsn0x · 1 pointr/bengalcats

I'd recommend this one. They are Bengal proof... My girl has done backflips trying to get out of it when a loud truck drove up and it held. The only time she actually did get out was when she was in a tree and got it stuck on a branch, and she wiggled out of it. Plus they look pretty good on bengals :)

u/hlbyers92 · 2 pointsr/bengalcats

It may seem counterintuitive, but install curtains and sheers. Once you have them installed you can leave the blinds up at a higher height all of the time. It works for my boys. I also took all of the cord pulls and tucked them behind and fastened the ends between the window and blinds with this 3M hook. I know this description is a little confusing but it works. If you would like more details, please let me know!

Buy a cat wheel, it's a must with a Bengal, lots of scratching things, a running water source, lots of toys.

My Bengals love this scratching bed.

u/meat_tunnel · 3 pointsr/bengalcats

My Savannah loves these crinkle balls, he'll play alone for hours by himself. Also, straws that I tie into pretzels.

u/wyatt1209 · 1 pointr/bengalcats

Try one of these. You'd probably save enough from your water bill to pay it off really quickly.

I use a Flexi 16ft blue leash small - I think it's this one

And a standard nylon strap harness, like this one

Depends on how your cat walks, but there are probably going to be times where you need to drop the leash for whatever reason, nice thing is that this one is small enough to get out of most places and not heavy enough to choke the cat if they needs to carry the weight for a little. (stuck in a tree, tied up in a bush, sprinted out of your hand etc.)

u/Khaiyan · 2 pointsr/bengalcats

Thanks!

The one in the back.

The one on the right

I wouldn't recommend the back one though. As you can see from the product page it's actually a cat tree but the parts are really shoddy. It broke when I was installing it, so I'm only left with the bed part of the tower.

The standalone cat bed on the right is solid though.
