Well if you're truly just cruising you can get away with a lot of stuff. Technically no need for chromoly tubes or double wall rims. Although you will still want sealed bearings of course.

Firstly, if you feel like saving money this bike will serve you well for an absolute fraction of the price. I can't confirm if the hubs are sealed though. It's full chromoly with double wall rims and some people have said both hubs sealed, some have said rear is sealed front is not. All I know is it's great for the price: https://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Freestyle-Beginner-Featuring-Available/dp/B07GNDF1HH?th=1

Moving on to a great bike with confirmed sealed bearings, double wall rims, and full chromoly is the Kink Whip XL. Great bike all around for a great price: https://www.kinkbmx.com/bikes/2020/whipxl-20/

And as far as commuting on a BMX goes, Stolen has a ton of great options going all the way from 22 to 29. All of these are worth looking at and great for the price. Obviously, the bigger you get the less BMX freestyle tricks you will be doing but the easier and more comfortable long distance commuting will be. So if you don't plan on riding freestyle but still want a fun BMX feel of going off curbs and popping wheelies, a 24 or 26 will suit you perfectly:

with that price range , i would look around for a used bike that is fully chromoly , any thing new in that price range will most likely be really shit and not last more then 2 months in my experience

the only bike brand new that i would even buy in that range would be

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GNDMK4W/ref=twister_B07KD87Z4F?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

yes it says boys bike but the stats don't lie

its 21 inch top tube , its full 4130 , its double wheeled rims , and as long as your just starting out it should hold you over

i been downvoted for posting a mongoose before but this is a crazy good entry bike

here is a good youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzinE6PqKQk&feature=youtu.be

things that will wear fiirst

grips , tires , chain , pedals

I'll recommend the KMC K710 chain. I personally think it's the best bang for your buck at $11 shipped to your door. All similarly rated chain is going to be the same, you end up paying for aesthetics and branding. The Odyssey Bluebird chain is $15-20 and it's a 510 chain, the Shadow Interlock V2 is nearly $40. So it really depends on what you find value in.

This is legit. The best bike for the price. https://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Legion-Wheel-Freestyle-Black/dp/B01LW44X4K use every part they give you till it wears out then and only then upgrade it. My friend has this. First the go where the grips. Then the times and the chain everything else is lasting. When you buy new tires. Buy 100psi and run high 80s. And if you don't run brakes I'll buy your lever and brake arms /cable.

The mongoose L100 is this bike, i don't even think walmart sells it, but yes it would be a much better bike then the framed.

Quick trick if you're short cash.
Get a dry scotch bright pad (the green ones you clean dishes with).
Put the pad inbetween the rim braking surface and your brake pad. Push the brake pad in OR squeeze the brake and spin the rear wheel.
It cleans up your rims and makes for a quick and easy fix.

Long term fix. Buy some new brake pads. They're cheap.

I'm getting a bike for a 10 year old kid to ride to school on. Doesn't need to be fancy, just durable. Would prefer for it to be from Amazon or a major retailer like Performance Bike. Up to $300 is fine.

Currently looking at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Legion-Wheel-Freestyle-Bike/dp/B01LW1D4Q6/

I would highly recommend the monolever for the gyro. It's a huge upgrade.

A piece of good duct tape on the inside would fix it. Keep is to be strong enough to keep the tube from pushing out. Here are also tire boots. She idea. Park Tool TB-2 Emergency Tire Boot (Pack of 3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000YBGJRS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XYrkDbMQ4Q5YE

From what i've read you can just use a normal pipe cutter that you would use for copper pipes and such. If you don't have one in your house you can get them pretty damn cheap.

Any 14mm axle and cones should work. Here's one.
