Great thinking! I'll give you my experience with the ones I've used.

First I bought this set from Etymotic for myself and my Croo years ago. For the price they're great and served me quite well at local shows and Roo alike until I lost them at Roo in 2016 (luckily I always carry disposable ones too in case anyone around me in the crowd wants a pair so I wasn't deaf by the end of that Roo). I liked them for the price and the carrying case however they did have some issues like their odd fit for some folks.

After losing the Etymotic's at Roo in 2016 I bought this set from Eargasm pretty much as soon as I got home. They're a bit pricier than the Etymotic's but well worth the price in my opinion. They come with a large and small in ear insert in order to ensure a good fit for most and instead of using a tube and dampening materials like the Etymotic's the Eargasm's actually have a tiny filter that makes for much more even tones/sounds. They also come with a much better carrying case and have yet to have an issue with them in the ~2.5 years I've had them.

Side note about the Eargasm's, their carrying case is a tiny metal canister that comes equipped with a keychain and I take them to every show I go to, I mention this because the canister does look like something you'd house party favors in so the security may have you open the canister up so they can inspect it. I've also found the canister sets off metal detectors so if you do attempt to get through using it as a party favor holder it may come back to bite you. Just figured I'd give you a heads up there since I've gotten many strange looks from security and fellow show goers alike until I open them up and pop the plugs in.

Hopefully this helps! If you've got any questions about either set let me know!

> wondering if Bonnaroo has any sort of plan in place for extreme weather like severe thunderstorms or tornadoes

Not really, other than stopping shows and asking people to evacuate enclosed areas like the cinema tent and smaller fenced off areas like pits by the front of stage.

> What are your recommendations for being weather ready at Bonnaroo?

  • We bring cheap but large rain boots with us every year. Something like these. Maybe go to Wal Mart or something and see if you can find cheaper. Because when the rain really comes down and makes everything a mud pit...crap like a pair of Crocs or flip flops just isn't going to cut it. I want to stomp around and not worry about it.

  • Bring more than enough socks to last you the weekend. I usually bring like 8 pairs. Just in case. Honestly, once you get past your feet, rain isn't going to do much to you other than maybe make you a little chilly. But it will fuck your feet up (NSFL pic of what happens to wet feet in wet shoes over a long weekend). So just make sure to keep your feet as dry and clean as possible when the weather is nasty.

  • Make sure you have things to secure your tent/canopy. Nothing like having your canopy fly away in the middle of a thunderstorm. Buy a cheap kit like this. And then maybe some extra stakes. And then secure the shit out of your campsite.

  • Depending on the size of your tent, get a cheap military style cot. If your tent fills up with mud and water, this will keep you very happy. We started bringing cots a few years ago and they are freaking fantastic. No sleeping in dirt or mud.

  • Buy a semi-decent lightweight poncho and bring it with you. Stash it in your backpack. It will likely be the same price as those cheap plastic ones they will sell inside the venue. But will last you more than one use.

edit: a couple more pictures to show you what a wet bonnaroo looks like. 1. 2. 3. 4.

I have 3 battery powered fans. Out of all 3 I think this one is the best one. Its smaller but that makes it portable and it has a lot of power (more than the next two I have) and has rechargeable batteries which are a big plus!

This one is nice to have hanging from the ceiling in your tent and also has a nice light for at night but its not that powerful at all and takes 2 D batteries.

Lastly this is the one you can get from walmart or amazon. It takes the most batteries (6 D batteries) but has pretty good power if its close to you. It can be awkward to position in your tent for it to actually cool you off depending on your sleeping situation...

This is a good price, but I would recommend spending a few extra dollars for one like this. Black is only $25 and the rest are about $32.

The storage space is perfect to carry keys, cell phone, snacks, supplies, etc. Anything you'll need inside.

I've been rocking these for the last few months, and they seem to be doing a great job. I highly recommend using the keychain holder so that you never forget them when going to a show. Can't attest to their headbanging ability, as my best headbanging days are behind me. But they have stayed in during some aggressive head nodding.

Kamp-Rite Double Kwik Cot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004M0YY0G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MKRIyb2C5F524 this bad boy plus a moon mat on each side is what my fiance and I have used the past 2 years. Best sleep ever for Roo, without a mattress or anything it gets great airflow. But be sure to bring blankets/hoodies. I know we as well as many other people froze one night this past year, because we didn't have any

Diffraction glasses, like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005JT5P7A/ref=pd_aw_sim_23_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2J2WHV4669K5CPXWCTD8 you can buy them in bulk super cheap and some companies will print custom ones. Everyone will fucking love it

u/shrimpandgritz · 1 pointr/bonnaroo

I haven’t tried it yet but I’m using some of these and some paracord to make some reflective curtains. Hopefully that will keep the canopy nice and cool

Coleman 2000028003 Back Home Instant Screenhouse, 12 x 10 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00339C3FA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-AyXAb8KE37Y3

Cant go wrong with this one. It sells out often though so be careful. Brought this to 4 roos already, its awesome. Just get a cot with this and you'll sleep as well as you can at roo 😎

Anytime! Just my 2 cents, but my girlfriend and I have an 8 person tent that goes up in roughly 5 minutes (practice setting it up in your backyard once or twice before you leave and you'll have your tent up in no time at roo.) And it easily fits a queen size blow up mattress in there, probably takes up 1/3 of the room so you can still lock stuff in your tent when you leave for centeroo. A/C and free ice, you're right about though.

All in all, just make sure you go to Roo. I don't spend hardly any time at my camp, so I just need a space to crash at night and wake up/recover for an hour or two in the mornings (an E-Z up is a must have either way, the porches on the luxury tents are pretty small, don't rely on getting much shade there) and other than that I'm in centeroo the rest of the time.

Protip: If you are using a tent, put one of those mylar emergency blankets on top of your tent, it reflects the sun. I did this my third year, I slept in everyday. It was glorious. I just secured it to the top using clothes pins.

I have an Anker 20,000mAh and it was about $40.

I have successfully kept my S5 Active alive for a whole week with it on a cross country trip. The Anker was fully charged before I left and never recharged during the trip.

Anker has cheaper models with less capacity.

Just got mine yesterday. Huge capacity, should work great on the farm with all the direct sunlight.

u/lizzie5464 · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

I just ordered this pretty neat kit. Mallets retail over 10 bucks usually, just by themselves.

FINGERLIGHTS! You can buy them in bulk on Amazon for really cheap (40 for $5.50 - http://www.amazon.com/LED-Finger-Lights-40-pcs/dp/B0045H0L1W)

They're fun to play with, hand out to make new friends, and the white ones make for useful flashlights around camp. They're pretty low quality which is why they're so cheap so there's always some duds in the bag, but you'll still get your money's worth. Amazon has a killer selection of other rave toys, and I know for a fact you can get diffraction glasses there too.

The EZ-up/tapestries/cot combo last year was AWESOME. I slept from about 6am-1pm easily every day thanks to that sweet airflow <3

Bought this one from Amazon. It's sturdy af, but the downside is it takes up almost as much space as the EZ-up when it's packed.

u/ShoegazingStardust · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

I always bring my own toilet. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Luggable-Portable-Gallon/dp/B000FIAPXO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368218018&sr=8-1&keywords=luggable+loo

Nothing is nicer than to use the bathroom at your own camp. We have a huge tent, so we can set up the bathroom in there. We've also brought a pop-up shower and used it to set up a bathroom, kinda like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Changing-Camping-Privacy-Outdoor/dp/B007ZJ99HE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368218091&sr=8-1&keywords=pop+up+camping+shower

I never think mine gets to heavy. When I went for the first time in 2010 I had a cheaper brand and the straps would start the chafe and got annoying. Last year I bought this and had no issues at all. It also had a mesh strap that came out the bottom and was really useful caring around extra stuff.

u/waterlilydreams · 3 pointsr/bonnaroo

I bought some sunscreen flasks this year from Amazon!

u/mrbigbigums · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

Glowsticks aren't allowed so stash them well. Fingerlights are allowed so you can bring them without worrying about them being hidden. Fireworks glasses don't glow, but they enhance all other glow toys and stage lights.

u/SuckCow · 6 pointsr/bonnaroo

Search for a tailgate flagpole and base. You park your car tire on the base. Maybe cut a pool noodle to wrap around the bottom of the pole where it could slightly bump your ride. I use something like this.

They make ear plugs that are more like dampeners. In user them in my helmet while motorcycle riding.

Cuts down on harmful noise without you losing much sensory.

They make seats for buckets too btw. Or you can buy the full kit.
