I'm in the same boat! Got mine a few weeks ago and have never ridden a skateboard before - - took a lot of getting used to and I thought I'd never get used to it but lo and behold almost a month later I've gotten pretty confident riding around NYC traffic haha

Turning was definitely my worst skill - - I'm still getting used to it but with practice I've gotten better. Look into loosening / tightening your trucks. They also haver custom bushings to help with turning. Also to help dampen the bumps in the road I bought myself some shock pads. Links below! Best of luck!

Depends on what style, weight and price range you want to be in:

If you want to ride in the night it’s probably best to have a helmet with built in lights like this one or a light for your current helmet like this one. A Strap clip with light would probably be helpful if wearing a backpack: strap clip light holder . Also some lights for the board like Shreadlights or Board Blazers.

Here's what I have-

Backpack: https://www.dakine.com/en-us/bags/backpacks/street-backpacks/mission-25l-backpack-17w/

Helmet: https://triple8.com/product/the-certified-sweatsaver/?category_name=skate

Shoes: https://www.vans.com/shop/suede-canvas-old-skool#hero=0

Pads: https://triple8.com/product/saver-series-3-pack-box/?category_name=skate

I only used all of the pads for about the first week or so, but I still wear the wrist guards-they've prevented serious injuries!

Board light (tail of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IEJ0GC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Board light #2 (front of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IFA03I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Front Backpack light (goes on my backpack strap, or hooked to my jacket on my forward facing shoulder): https://www.olightstore.com/h1r-cool-white.html

Back Backpack light (goes around my backpack): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1SM2NQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The board lights aren't super bright, they're mostly so people can see what I'm riding. The O light makes riding at night very safe, and my back light has great visibility.

As for tools, I carry my skate tool and a couple of hexes, and some spare belts. I have a charger I leave in my office and one in my backpack all the time.

Hope this helps!

Hey, guys!

I thought you would all enjoy seeing my shrine to my Boosted. The only thing missing from it is the Boosted itself, and that should hopefully be arriving in the next few weeks. If everything is as planned, I should be able to hang it by the front trucks on the hook below the cabinet, and charge the board, the remote, my flashlight, and my taillight, as well as hang my gloves/wristguards, and helmet all from one spot, as well as keep my deck tape cleaner, skate tool, and any other random stuff I use with the board.

The taillight charges inside the small box on the bottom left. This is in my bedroom and the light glows red while it is charging, so I keep it in there so my room stays dark and I can sleep at night.

http://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Blue-Threadlocker-6-Milliliter-209728/dp/B000I1RSNS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462848673&sr=8-1&keywords=loctite+blue
Try to apply this product on the screw which tight the motor mount to the truck. based on what the boosted customer service said, those screws were designed to hold motor mount to the truck, temporarily while the epoxy completely dry. But, thread locker and screw hold motor mount really well. It has been almost 4months after I apply thread locker. and it still holds with any problem. but send them back to boosted before ur warranty ends just for check up, which i ll do pretty soon:)

Make sure to leave ur board for 24hours after u apply thread locker. make sure do not touch or ride for 24hours!!

u/burningderp · 5 pointsr/boostedboards

You have 2 options.

  1. send it back to boosted for a $78 grip tape replacement.
  2. go on amazon and buy a belt cleaner. Its essentially a piece of rubber you use to clean your grip tape. honestly works like magic. I linked you what I have. I also purchased a 3 piece wire brush set.
  • use wire brushes to disturb the tape
  • brush of larger pieces of debris
  • use rubber belt cleaner to scrub!!
  • protip: this is going to be a hell of a workout. 2 months worth of ( twice every day) fapping in seconds. I suggest not buying the one i got and instead getting a smaller one so you can handle it easier

Lastly invest in flatlands bash guard. Google it. Its cheap and will protect the tip(s). No one likes a bent tip(s).

I grabbed one of these Indoor Countdown Timer after a reddit user suggested it. Pretty great not having to worry.

The battery has a cutoff for itself to prevent damage but it may still wear on the components. Better to be safe than sorry kind of situation I guess?

If you’re looking for a backpack, I’ve heard this one is pretty good.

If you want a travel bag, this one is good.

u/Jabronious1090 · 1 pointr/boostedboards

It's a standard USB-mini to USB. You might have some laying around for other devices but if you need to order one I just got this one. It's pretty good quality and only $4.79

I also recommend this, it’s a cover for the board to protect you, the bag, your back seat in your car, ect from the grip tape

u/Mainstreamk2 · 1 pointr/boostedboards

Thanks for watching! Yeah, the boosted board is definitely a good beginner board but the price makes it a big investment. I assume most beginners would look for something cheaper. The bash protectors are the "Skateboard Deck Guards" link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077CQBC33?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf. I've had the back one slide off a bit so I hope they last.

u/rookpsu · 1 pointr/boostedboards

I just went with the larger tornado hook. Two screws right into drywall holds a BB perfectly. Looks good.

Honestly, I leave mine plugged in for days at a time sometimes. They have a protection circuit built in to prevent overcharging. So I would not sweat it. If it's something you want to make your life easier, get yourself one of these. How do shredlights compare to something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HR2Y6N0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_S0qgzb33G7E0Z

I saw another post with someone having the BLITZU ones. They're cheaper, but I'm wondering which one is easier to take on/off for charging.

u/SnowHeroHD · 2 pointsr/boostedboards

> I need a nighttime setup. I'm thinking headlamps + rear lights attached to the board. Any suggestions?

Shred lights or this & this is working pretty well for me

u/Chanthrax · 4 pointsr/boostedboards

No but what I did was bought this bag
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HB89Y7P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DzoACbWBKY9PC

And then these bungees
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AHV3DMO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And tied 4 to the front of the bag so you can wrap top and bottom support around all the wheels/trucks and it holds it right in place and doesn’t move either.

Be sure to clean the screw threads first with acetone. This will remove any old Loctite or dirt so that the new Loctite will adhere. Use Blue Loctite: http://amzn.to/2xpsbl6 but only a small amount, don't over do it.

Dude, I second this! With the slight downside of looking odd, a full face helmet is the way to go. I've been looking at a Demon Podium Mountain Bike Helmet. Lightweight, does NOT look like a motorcycle helmet and will keep my jaw in place.
