Before I start explaining the main parts in this build I'll say that you should probably look into peripherals yourself before buying. This includes the keyboard, mouse, and monitors because at the end of the day it's all about preference. Also I took a guess and made this a blue and black themed build since you wanted blue LED's. This is my first time putting a list together for such an expensive build so I'll try and explain my rationale as best as possible!

  • CPU: At this price point you may as well go for a processor that can overclock. The 4790k is one of the latest i7 that, without overclocking, run at 4.0 GHz which is VERY impressive and serve you well for games and streaming.

  • CPU Cooler: This is a very popular liquid cooler. From what I can tell it does an excellent job at its job.

  • Motherboard: A very high end board from Asus which supports dual graphics cards. To be honest I'm not the best at picking motherboards but from what I can tell it should support everything in the build and more. Also when you said wireless was a must I'm assuming that means you need WiFi so I chose a motherboard that had that integrated. I was trying to go for an all black and red theme but oh well.

  • RAM: I'm just guessing that since you do Twitch streaming you might do stuff like video editing and such so I went with 16 GB of RAM. Nothing much to say really except that it works.

  • HDD: Chose two 1 TB drives because it fits the budget and you can RAID them to improve your performance.

  • SSD: You should definitely install Windows on this because iff you haven't used one before you'll see an immediate boot time difference and such. I chose 250 GB because I'm not sure if you'll need anymore to keep important and frequently used programs, games, etc.

  • GPU: Here's the big part of the build. I chose GTX 770's because you preferred NVIDIA and these were the perfect price to fit within the budget. ASUS is known for its low noise and cooling, plus they also are the makers of the motherboard in this build so you'll know that you'll be getting the best compatibility.

  • Case: All I can say is that this thing is huge so you shouldn't have a problem fitting everything in. The case should offer a ton of airflow which in my opinion you'll need for this build. It doesn't come with blue LED lighting but I'll explain how you can get it at the end.

  • PSU: This is not a good idea to skimp on, and this build will use about 700 watts so you'll want efficiency and functionality. Went with this because it's 1000 watts and has 80+ gold efficiency. Also the PSU is modular which means every cable is removable so you won't have as big of a mess with cable management. Unfortunately it has a few red sleeved cables but I chose reliability over looks for this one.

  • OS: Standard Windows 7 but if it helps I'd recommend windows 8.1.

Peripherals - This is the part of the build where I highly suggest going through and start picking things that you would like. I chose these mainly for price and if it was blue or not. Still great products but not for everyone.

  • Monitors: Went with two 23' monitors from ASUS. If you are in a fairy dark setting I'd recommend going with IPS monitors because they offer great colors and viewing angles for a little bit more money. Downside with those are that black colors aren't emphasized that much. These are TN panels and the plus about these are that they offer great response times which makes them great for gaming (these monitors have a 2ms response time) and generally are cheaper than IPS, which isn't necessarily an issue here but helped stay in budget. Also these are 1080p monitors, but I'm pretty sure you're able to run 1440p monitors with this setup so I'd suggest looking into that yourself to see if you'd perfer it or not.

  • Keyboard: Very nice Cherry MX Blue keyboard from Cooler Master, and comes with a blue backlight to match the build! Also you should look into this yourself because there are multiple types of switches including Cherry MX Red, Brown, etc. Head over to /r/mechanicalkeyboards and take a look at the wiki to get an idea of what you'd want.

  • Mouse: A mouse I like from Corsair. It's blue and black which is why I chose it the most. Again highly suggest looking into this yourself to see if you'd want this or something else.

  • LED Lighting: Instead of looking for a case that already had blue lighting I decided to go for one of these. You mount the control panel thing where you'd put an optical drive on this case and it can be set to high, medium, and low, and has a power button to turn on and off. Overall I think this would be a great addition to the case that allows you to customize it a little bit. It's also one meter long so I'm sure that it should fit your case. If you don't like it try and find some other solutions, but if you don't feel like going with this option I'll try and find a case with blue LED lighting for you :D

And that's it! Wow that took a while to type. You can shoot me a PM or respond if you have any questions regarding this build. Feedback is appreciated :D

Edit: Added link to NZXT LED lights to Amazon and a little bit of formatting.

So let's cut right down to it and explain the parts:

  • CPU: Intel quad-core, hyperthreaded CPU. This CPU will perform very well when playing any game, while streaming. Videos below will explain more why this CPU is more than good enough for your use. Got the H.264 codec which allows you to record and stream at very high quality. But this will give a hit on FPS.
  • CPU Cooler: Review. Easy to install, silent, good looking CPU cooler. Will keep the Xeon more than cool enough.
  • Motherboard: Black & red gaming motherboard. Got better on-board audio and a dedicated network chip to provide low latency when gaming.
  • Memory: 16GB of RAM. Speeds don't matter, only capacity. 16GB is overkill for a gaming PC, but will be helpful when you're using a lot of programs at the same time.
  • Storage: 240GB SSD for OS + all editing / streaming software. 2TB HDD for your game captures. Able to expand this later with 4 more HDDs.
  • Video Card: Review. The best single core GPU on the market. Got Shadowplay, which is a feature where you can capture game play with, although not at a extremely high quality.
  • Case: Review. Very awesome quality case and easy to work in. Given that it's $70, it's very good.
  • Power Supply: Review. 5 year warranty, 80+ gold, semi-modular (so you only have to plug in the cables that you need and nothing more), semi-passive fan profile, 650W PSU from EVGA made by FSP. This is a very high quality PSU. Which will have no problem powering this system that will at most pull about 350-400W depending on how much you overclock the GPU.
  • OS: Windows 10, remember that you need to have a USB stick of at least 4GB to install Windows. Also you need to have a PC with Windows on it to make use of this. If you're using XP you'll have to download the ISO file from the program and use Rufus to install the ISO on the USB flash drive.
  • Monitor: 2560x1440p IPS monitor. You will absolutely love this monitor and the amazing image quality + size. You can simply record games at 1080p no problem. When you stream, you should also just stream at 1080p and use the downscale option in OBS. This will then record your whole screen and simply down scale it. So the viewers will see everything that you see. Same thing will happen for the recording.
  • Capture card: Because you said that you don't want to have any loss in FPS while playing / recording games. This device is a very nice option to go for. This got a HDMI pass-through and will use the H.264 encoder to record or stream gameplay. Here is the product page. You simply connect this device with USB 3.0 to your PC, then you go out of your GPU into the device with HDMI and then out of the device into your monitor.

    ---

  • Keyboard: Review. Mechanical keyboards are a lot better in terms of typing and durability compared to membrane. But they are louder.
This is the Cherry MX red review and I went for the Cherry MX brown. The reds are perhaps even more silent once you've applied the O-rings. Not entirely sure about that. Here is a very good read about mechanical keyboards and especially a nice look at the different switches. I use MX browns personally and it's not silent at all, but it's far less loud compared to MX blues, that I've used previously.
  • Mouse: Review. This is probably the best review of this mouse. There is an RGB version now, but it got a $30 premium.
  • Webcam: Review. Pretty damn solid webcam for the price.

Note: the total price is without the keyboard, mouse & webcam.

    ---

Now I will also provide you with my standard list of videos to help you understand why I suggest these parts.
Lastly I'll also provide you with a couple of great guides to help you build the PC.
I have to post this in a reply to this post, since I went over the 10.000 character limitation reddit provides per post.

So there's a few things with this.

Firstly, you're not going to be able to get a great gaming PC for $400. You'll be able to play stuff with it but don't come into this expecting super max graphics ;)

As far as your PC parts go, so long as you feel your HDD is OK, that's the only thing to keep for a new build. That being said, if you're currently using it as the main OS drive for your current PC, consider doing a clean OS install onto the drive when you build the new one, assuming you have any important things backed up etc. first.

CPU: Intel G4560 ($70)

GPU: RX 460 ($90)

Motherboard: ASRock B250M Pro4 ($74)

RAM: 8GB DDR4 ($55)

PSU: [Seasonic S12II 520W](https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-S12II-520-BRONZE-SS-520GB /dp/B00390P1NO/) ($45)

Case: HAF 912 ($60)

Total Cost: $394

Just using mostly Amazon and Newegg for you. Keep an eye on pricing, I've quoted full prices yet these parts do have rebates on from time to time, which could save you more money :)

So my main choices for the parts was based like this. Firstly, you're not going to get a better CPU without spending another $50 onto the i3 7100. Because of the choice in CPU, the RX 460 is the best performance for the price. You could spend more onto a more powerful GPU but you're not going to see the benefit with that CPU. Motherboard is a modern board for the current Intel chipset, so you should be comfortably able to get upgrades for this for a good number of years to come. As part of that, I've given you a single 8GB stick of DDR4, leaving you plenty of free slots on the board to upgrade your RAM in the future. DO NOT USE YOUR OLD RAM. The PSU is powerful enough to be able to handle bigger CPU and GPU's if you want to do bigger upgrades to those in the future and the HAF 912 case gives you plenty of flexibility for size and design internally to cover that too.

All told, that's about as good as you're going to be able to do for $400.

First suggested upgrades would be to spend around $50 on a SSD to use as an OS boot drive to make the system a little bit more snappy. Next upgrade would be for a more powerful CPU some point down the line, followed by GPU.

You definitely want to go to MicroCenter. The MC CPU/Combo is unbeatable. Also there are $50 of MIRs with the PSU, Monitor, & Mouse, so the final cost will be $1626.64:

I just spent a full hour writing about this but it got deleted by my mistake :-:
I recommend these parts

The CPU is good enough for the game you will be playing, the motherboard is good enough and more expensive ones sell you feature you don't need. The RAM will do you fine and is enough for any game you want and the GPU will be perfect for 1080p with 3GB of VRAM. For storage, go with a cheap 500GB HDD but I would certainly recommend an SSD for the future. The power supply will do you fine no matter what anyone else says, trust me (powers my R9 280X which is a LOT more power hungry).
I would recommend looking round Ebay, Facebook selling sites etc etc for any used components or 'starting points' with Ebay being the best bet in my opinion due to the massive amounts of sellers. If you see a 6600 or a 6600k for the same or less than on Amazon, snag it up and make sure to have a CPU cooler with it (stock will do you again, I have experience with 6600/6500 running on stock coolers and it's perfectly fine)

Sorry if the response looks rushed, I had a better one but I clicked something and it deleted :'(
Would love to hear about how the build goes, may your frames be high and temperatures at a low enough level!

EDIT BEFORE POSTING : 'Bomba' recommended an 8GB RX 470 - that's pointless for 1080p in my opinion and having a Pentium Dual core isn't something anyone would crave. I also have bad experience with Corsair PSUs but I haven't tried the 450W.

For $2,000, you can score a pretty excellent VR dev rig.

If you're already using UE4, and you've got got your DK1, you're probably relatively familiar with the basic demands— The faster your CPU, the faster everything compiles, and more ability you have to get things done simultaneously outside your IDE. RAM is a similar story, as well letting you play with more polys and textures in whatever modeling program you use. For the GPU, various Oculus people have dropped the hint that you pretty much want a GTX 770 as a baseline for advanced apps [source]. That's consistent with what benchmarks have had to say about what it'll take to drive the (probably) 1440p CV1.

With regards to the OS, there are very few reasons to use Windows 7. You can read some reddit discussions about that here or here, but the moral of the story is that everything works better on 8 except maybe the layout, which you can change.

$2,000 is a good spot— it's pretty much where the bang-for-buck curve becomes a cliff. Here's about how that build looks:

This leaves you with wiggle-room, to make a couple decisions based on your uses and preferences. You could bump one of the monitors up to 27" 1440p, you could bump the very capable GTX 780 up to a 780 Ti, you could move up to 32GB of RAM, increase the size of the SSD, or just pocket the change. It really depends on what apps you're trying to produce, and what your workflow looks like— if it were me, I'd lean towards the 1440p screen, just for workflow reasons.

This builds totals up to approximately $475 before taxes and rebates. This will handle a moderate amount of AutoCAD, coding, virtualization, and rendering. The system runs on a six-core processor with SMT. The build also comes with an appropriate mid-tier GPU. It meets the 4GB VRAM requirement for the AutoCAD application as well as DX11 and DX12 support. Also, a 500GB HP NVMe SSD was also included for quick boot, load, save, and transfer times while only costing $45. The motherboard is also a great B450 motherboard, with space for possible overclocking or boosting. 16GB of RAM clocked at 3000MHz is also included for a better AutoCAD experience. The CX650W is a reputable power supply from Corsair. It is not modular, but its quality is above average for this price point. Finally, to seal everything off, the Masterbox Lite 3.1 was chosen for the case. This case has decent aesthetics and efficient airflow for a sub-$50 mATX case. Do note that this takes advantage of the Newegg Black Friday sales, so prices may change. If you need a new build list close to the date of purchase, one can be provided.

Laptop Option: https://www.newegg.com/black-msi-gl-series-gl65-9sc-004-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834155299?Item=34-155-299&Tpk=34-155-299&cm_sp=2019-_-BlackFriday-_-Eflyer-_-34-155-299

This is $100 over budget per unit, however, it gives the systems more portability. The MSI Laptop will not have the same degree of performance as the tower systems, but will still meet or exceed requirements for AutoCAD and other cyber and design related tasks.

This HP Prebuilt is the best I can come up with near $500/unit.

This is similar to the DIY build, just 8GB instead of 16GB of RAM. (You can easily find an extra 8GB stick for like $30.)

Hope everything goes well.

Ouch, my bad, I meant the i7-7800K!! Sorry to bother, but I still am a tiny bit confused.
>Yes, gaming performance is almost always going to improve. Every generation we get a bump in Instructions Per Cycle or IPC. This means that at the same clock speed, the CPU with the higher IPC will perform better.

>To simplify it here is a simplified 'benchmark'

>i7-2600K @ 4GHz = 500 points
>i7-4790K @ 4GHz = 700 points
>i7-7700K @ 4GHz = 1000 points
>i7-8700K @ 4GHz = 1200 points

>i7-8700K @ 3.5GHz = 1000 points

>i7-8700K @ 4.5GHz = 1400 points

>These numbers are made up, just to help you understand.

So basically the Ghz are faster with each new generation? Like for instance, would the Intel i7-7700K at 4.2GHz run faster than the Intel i7-8700K? Like I know the 8th Gen is faster, but what I am trying to say is the GHz speed is different for each generation? Sorry if that was not clear, I'm trying to write my thoughts down.

Also, this was the website I was looking at to compare the two CPUs.
Link

The main thing I am worried about here is Minecraft, and I know it sounds dumb and stuff, but I've been seeing on other PlanetMinecraft and Reddit forums that it is hard to tell with Minecraft, and you never really know how to tell if it is going to run well or not. My current laptop, a Lenovo YOGA 710-14IKB, can run MC vanilla at a max of about 120fps, which is the highest I have ever seen it go. When I am running on MultiMC with a custom modpack of about 120 mods on the lowest settings, I am lucky to get 40fps. I just really want to make sure that the parts I am looking at will run these games considerably better (To play my heavy games such as Black Flag and PUBG I use Nvidia Geforce Now).

Also, I was browsing around Microcenter yesterday, and I found a couple good looking monitors. I wanted to make sure that they would work with the parts I will get in the future, plus I want to wait for the prices to go down, maybe get a holiday/special event deal or something. This is one in particular I was looking at, I will probably have to go over budget, but monitor is important.

Let me know what you think. (Also, this is kind of my first post on Reddit, so sorry if the formatting is bad, I was looking at the Markdown chart below.)

Anyway, thanks so much for your help! I've learned a crap ton ever since you started commenting. Thanks!

This wraps up to £666
I found these items pretty quickly and didn't bother price checking across different sites, I used HotUKDeals for some of them so these should be pretty decent.

3.2GHz 6MB processor, 120GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Blu-ray and CD reader and writer, 8GB RAM, GTX 750 Ti. You can probably upgrade that processor whilst staying under 700 but that's a perfectly reasonable processor. The memory is the same stick I have and it's perfectly fine (shot up in price though).

This build DOES NOT take in to account price for an OS or a screen. You didn't specify if you wanted them.

EDIT:
also, all of the sites I have listed are trustworthy sites and I have used all 3 of them in the past. If you want to compare prices two other sites I know are trustworthy are OverclockersUK and CCLonline.

I at first wanted to create build with an i7 cpu for you, but I was not able to fit it into budget. Not with a GTX 1070 and the other requirements, like the bigger SSD. And without the GTX 1070 a stronger cpu for 144Hz gaming is pretty much useless.

That's why that build has a Ryzen 5 cpu, which has the advantage of being a better cpu for programming and the VMs, while still being good for gaming. The mentioned 1070 to go with it, and 16GB of fast ram. 2TB HDD, 480GB SSD. Note that I opted for a cheaper case than the R5, but if you want to use up your budget you could swap it out. But the 200R at least looks equally nice (but is a bit worse).

I don't know which optical drive you are searching. Which medium do you want to read? For Wifi you should add https://www.amazon.ca/Gigabyte-Bluetooth-Expansion-Components-GC-WB867D-I/dp/B00HF8K0O6 (but there are alternatives, like https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Archer-T9E-Wireless-Beamforming/dp/B00TQEX7AQ/)

For Cities Skylines you want an an unlocked Intel CPU. The game in my experience is CPU limited and thread limited. For streaming more cores\threads is good. To be honest squeezing in a monitor and windows into the 850$ doesnt leave much room if the monitor is decent. I am skipping the monitor but including windows.

First consider this cyberpower system for 779$ it has the works including windows10 and an rx580 4GB

The custom PC has a worse video card because video cards are extremely overpriced at the moment. You get a better processor which will definitely help with light content creation. Cities Skylines will be happy with just a 1050 but if you want to play major releases at high settings that video card wont cut it. For VR your going to want a 1060 6GB or RX580 8GB or better but those are very high cost outside of prebuilts.

First off, thank you a ton. I asked a friend of mine to look at the build (sorry, but I like to check things :P, I'm paranoid), and he said it looks great. I was curious though if you had the time to verify a few things for me. I couldn't find a few of the things you had suggested so I checked on some other things... Could you verify that they are just as usable for me please?

Upgraded the CPU cooler, because I changed the case to something that I think will work out better for you (especially cable management wise, and overall airflow). You can get the 970 EVO for much less, and with that I also upgraded the motherboard to a much better one. I just dropped 1TB from the HDD, but it's still the same Toshiba X300.

For the CD drive, I do recommend external, as you probably won't be using it as much as people did before. More and more, I'm finding people go with external cd drives, and they're better off overall, because they can get better components for the tower.

A few recommendations... LG GP65NB60 | ASUS ZenDrive (USB-C)

(The case I recommended has a USB-C front panel port)

A more focused on 'workstation' tasks, but you'll still easily play games like Overwatch on ultra 60+ fps at 1080p with a 1050ti.

The E5 1230 is very similar to an i7 6700, but without integrated graphics (which won't matter). 32gb's of memory might be a bit overkill, but if you plan on having the entire Adobe suite open at the same time it'll help. Another thing that will help a lot is the 950 PRO, it's expensive but damn it's fast. I suggest you install your OS and software there and store your projects / games on the 2tb hdd i included. The case isn't anything special, but it's white and it has a Window. If you're looking for LED's, a cheap option would be DeepCool's magnetic rgb strips for $20, or you can go all out and get the NZXT Hue + for $60.

It's maxing out your budget at $1000, but gives a pretty powerful workstation.

From what I remember reading about hybrid hard drives, the largest performance increase they give has to do with coming out of hibernation and a bit of start-up time. Programs used often are also cashed on the ssd which allows faster access time, but I don't think the performance gain supports the price increase. If anything, getting a 120gb SSD (the Kingston v300 has worked really well for me for a great price.

The brand for ram can matter, but there are several reputable brands I have used and Kingston is solid memory for both ram and ssd's

Something like a silent, windowed, white case at this budget with everything you need included is going to take too much of a bite to be worth it. I've included a white NZXT Source 210 Elite though. Hopefully it's close enough to what you're looking for.

This is very much video editing optimized. The 8-core FX-8320 just loves chewing through media tasks, and the Radeon HD7750 is extremely light on power, but gives you the advantage of the GCN architecture's powerful OpenCL acceleration. Will obliterate Minecraft as well.

The only thing missing there is speakers. Realistically if you're doing monitoring work for your videos, you'll be better off getting a set of decent headphones. The Superlux HD661 would be perfect for that, and will only run you $40.

The Microcenter combo deal on the CPU/Motherboard is included. Also, since Amazon is offering the 8320 for $145 it can't hurt to ask if they'll price match, even if it's only $5.

u/Filthschwein · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

No problem. If you upgrade to a 1050 or 1060, you’ll probably be good for about 2 more years.

If you didn’t buy a fan, then yes, you have the stock fan. You could spend $30 ($20 after $10 rebate) on a Cooler Master like this from Amazon. Or (and I highly recommend) an AIO (All In One) cooler along the lines of NZXT’s Kraken. They’re cheaper ones out there. But, be wary of what you buy. What I do know for fact is NZXT stands by their product and if their product fails to keep your cpu cool, they will replace your cpu. A friend of mine works at Micro Center and he’s told me about some of his customers having good customer service with NZXT. Corsair is another good company for AIO’s.

Also, the fan and/or the AIO will be usable on your next pc. You just might need to buy a $5 bracket.

Imo, don’t worry about the CPU. It’s still a good cpu. Invest in a proper fan.. save the money for now and get the cooler master and a 1060. You’ll be able to recycle that fan (or AIO if you go that route) into your next build.

Edit: only get the AIO if you plan on trying to get the max over clock you can and still plan on building a new pc in a couple years. Otherwise, it would be a waste.

This is my exact build. I love it. Feel free to ask me anything.

BTW, you can get that monitor for $300 if you wanted to re-allocate funds.

As for the keyboard, you're looking for rubber dome. A good, cheap, entry-level mech is this one. I personally love it.

Comes in a little over 1k, but I included keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, etc. Things you may already have, or have extras of. Mini-ITX check, SSD, check, Windows 10, check (they come in USBs now so no need optical drive). Modular PSU so you can actually fit all your parts in easily. GPU should be able to handle most games satisfactorily. CPU should handle most tasks well. GLHF

Yea, sadly. For example, this pc is about the equivalent of this, for $200 less.

Add on the necessary monitor, and it's only $195 more, amounting to around $985.

Given you want to upgrade it a bit, maybe some more ram, ssd and a 8GB RX 580. You get [this] (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ynrsJ8) list of upgrades.

Add that to the original price, costs around $1700. But you can sell the RX 580 4GB or trade it on r/hardwareswap for at least $300, bringing it down on $1400.

But it's a hassle, and no guarantee anyone would buy the 4GB one. But if you were fine with the 4GB one, the round total would come to $1300.

So if you want value, go for pre-built. If you want flexibility, freedom of choice(this has a non-overclockable CPU with only 4cores and 4 threads) and the satisfaction as well as knowledge that you've chose the best parts you could for your budget and to your preference, you should build it on your own.

u/BossRSA · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Yes, the graphics card is only for visually-intensive tasks, like gaming and video-editing. Even then, the integrated graphics (Intel HD 530) is one of the most powerful around. One thing I forgot to include, you'll need to install Windows 10 via USB or external USB optical drive, as the case doesn't support an in-built optical drive. However, you kind find high-quality inexpensive USB optical-drive like this one. Let me know if you need any more help, and I hope you and your aunt enjoy the build!

u/Frogdog37 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I like a lot of the changes and you did a great job of keeping the builds integrity, while still decreasing the price, thanks a ton!

If I were wanting to have Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities with this build, what would i need to do?

Edit: found this and I think it is pretty good: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Bluetooth-Expansion-Components-GC-WB867D-I/dp/B00HF8K0O6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421396763&sr=8-1&keywords=GIGABYTE+Model+GC-WB867D-I+Bluetooth+4.0%2FWiFi+Expansion+Card

The whole build is red and black themed.

  • CPU is ideal for streaming.
  • CPU cooler is one of the best air coolers. You could overclock your CPU to its limits.
  • A high quality motherboard with good audio and tons of features.
  • 16GB RAM is plenty for streaming.
  • SSD for OS and programs.
  • HDD for games and media.
  • GPU will max out every game.
  • Case you wished.
  • Fully modular PSU, so that you could get red sleeved cables. You could add another GPU in the future. 750W would only have a little headroom according to PCPP.
  • Blu-Ray driver with write functionality.
  • High quality IPS monitor.
  • Keyboard you wished.
  • Totally black extended mousepad.
  • 1080p webcam.
  • The mouse is the improved version of the G500. It's the s model.
  • Fan controller. I would not get a fan controller because it is vertical in that case.
  • Red LED cable.
  • As many fans as possible.

You caught me at the store, so just to come back and cover it.

This is very viable as a wifi dongle and easily removed when not traveling. It has speeds that are faster than most isp's will provide, however like all non-wired connections (including the one already on this mobo), it does increase latency slightly. Also, This + This is also viable. I've never screwed around with an M.2 adapter though so no data on that, I think it's just plug and play, but youtube is your friend. What I was trying to avoid is putting this below the 1070 card on the mobo, and not have a dongle hanging out of it. If you're primarily wired though, plenty of options on other micro atx mobo's.

And I usually give an upgrade/downgrade option so...Personally if you wanted to upgrade and stay in budget, i'd go for a larger ssd and drop the hdd. Mind you, the monitor is cheaper than listed ($420 on dell.com and 399 on sale), so you would have ~$130 to add worth of ssd drive and still be at or below $2k. And to downgrade without losing much performance i'd go for an i5-6600k processor + micro atx mobo to match, which could save you ~$70-100 depending on setup.

Hope this helps, bud.

This is probably going to be your best bet. Great performance, good looks, quiet, and I even managed to fit in a copy of Windows 10, but you can get it for free just with no watermark. You can easily get 144fps and even 240fps in most AAA games with this pc. If I were you, I would upgrade the monitor. Something like this monitor would work at a lower price point for 144fps, and something like this monitor at a higher price point, for 240fps. Let me know if you have any questions.

This build is around $600 so you can order some LED's for whichever color you decide, personally the NZXT LED's are amazing: https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-CB-LED20-BU-Sensitivity-Sleeved-2-Meters/dp/B0046Y5Z5G they do use a PCI express connection

For the games you have suggested they will play on the highest settings, also you will have plenty of ability to play more graphically intensive games, with the quad core also good for rendering etc. The 1050ti is amazing and beats most if not all budget cards on the market.

Also Micro ATX

CPU- So the Pentium G4560 is a dual core however it has 4 threads so it acts like a 4 core. It should last you quite a while as it's good for even gaming. Here's the CPU on Amazon since it doesn't show up on PcPartPicker for some reason: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80677G4560-Pentium-Desktop-Processors/dp/B01NCE8T92/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1496550581&sr=1-1&keywords=g4560

Motherboard- Sort of a barebones one, should have all the I/O you'd need including USB 3.1 and Type C. Here's more about the mobo: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B250M-PRO-VDH.html#productFeature-section.

Memory- 8 gigs should be more than enough, I doubt you will ever need more but there is always an option to upgrade to 16 gigs.

Storage- 240 gigs of SSD storage should be enough for any Office apps plus more and than a 1 TB HDD should cover any mass storage.

Case- Cheapest case on PcPartPicker, it's nothing fancy but it'll get the job done. Comes with one 120 mm fan and a 80 mm fan so that's nice.

PSU- 430w is more than enough for this build and should cover some upgrades.

Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse- All seem like decent ones from reviews. Just your standard 1080p monitor and then the keyboard and mouse should do it's job just fine.

Edit: Whoops forgot the monitor keyboard and mouse. Just redid the entire post, sorry about that if you read through it already.

u/pinellaspete · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Everything still looks good in the build. You are worrying WAY TOO much about the temps. Really, it gives the gamers something to talk about.

This computer needs to be set-up in a certain way but I'm sure those Cambridge boys will do you well. Just peak over their shoulder and make sure that they set-up the RAID0 arrays using BIOS BEFORE they install Windows. Okay?

After you install Premiere Pro and After Effects you will also need to do some software tweaks to be able to use all this fancy hardware for maximum effect. It is not difficult to do and only takes about a half-hour for someone to do. You need to change the target directories so the software will use the RAID0 arrays properly. After you get the software installed or even when you get closer to build time I can refer you to some YouTube videos that show you exactly how it is done.

Here are some LED lights you might consider installing. They come in 5 different colors and 1m or 2m lengths. (You would want 2m length.) They have 3 brightness levels and can be turned off. Look here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/NZXT-2m-LED-Cable-Blue/dp/B0046Y5Z5G

u/LectricGaming · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I would get something like this, and add another 8 gigs of RAM in and an SSD. RX 580 is similar to a GTX 1060, and the i5-7400 should do great in most if not all games, the exclusions being something like AC Origins, The Division, other CPU heavy games.

Thanks! I actually should have mentioned I want to get 8GB of RAM, so I'll probably get the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2). Also I only need the normal Windows 8.1, not Pro (I'm assuming).

So my build would then look something like this:

So, you need a video capturing PC for less than $600. This PC might do the trick, although I cannot guarantee it will be able to capture the video at 1080p from the capture device and webcam at the same time.

CPU: The cheapest hyper-threaded CPU for sale at the moment. Solid.

GPU: Nothing fancy. You will be able to display any video you need to edit, but don't expect to be maxing out any games with this card. Make sure to install the drivers from the AMD website, not the disc that comes with the card.

RAM: 8GB should be enough for your purposes, but if you ever find you need more, just purchase second 8GB stick.

Storage: A simple and reliable 1TB drive.

Case/MoBo/PSU: Nothing fancy by any means. Just enough to get by (although the case looks kinda cool).

Webcam: This webcam offers 1080p video along with a high-quality microphone for a cheap price. This is actually one of the most commonly used webcams for Twitch streamers.

Video Capture Device: This Elgato HDMI capture device will give you much better video than filming your TV screen. It's more expensive than some other options, but the included software is worth the cost. If you find your PC cannot handle capturing at 1080p, you could always capture at 720p instead.

Overall: If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

> Keyboard: Cheapest tenkeyless keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches.

For whatever it's worth /u/grantthecreator - you could scrape $20+ off that Cherry MX Keyboard by going with one of those generic/knockoff TKL boards. They're everywhere, including Amazon w/ Prime.

If a budget was stopping you from a substantial CPU/GPU "tier jump" (I see you stretched for the 3800X), I would probably try to find that "loose change" elsewhere in the build and apply it there. In this particular build, I'd DEFINITELY try to find the few bucks for the 2060 Super over the OG 2060.

https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-KUMARA-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_147_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FR19RDK6PSJNTACCR3JS

And so on...there are tons of them.

I have over a year's worth of personal experience with one ("EagleTac" TKL w/ fake Blues from Amazon) on my GF's rig. She works from home often, types for school, and games on it - it gets used. It's still good as new - both the switches and lights. I've used it for typing and gaming and think it's absolutely fine. I was/am quite impressed with it for under $30.

If my reference point in PC's matters - I'm on higher-end stuff (2080 + dual 34" 21:9's - AW3418DW) and have been exclusively using Cherry MX's for years in K65/K95/Pok3r's...

Forgot to mention but I also have a CD drive. Do I need watercooling? Would it be possible to save on the cooler with http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI and spend the saved money for a better motherboard for better future-proofing? I'm terrible at knowing what things would fit/be compatible.

Ah, drawback of this case is that it simply doesn't have the slot for a disk reader / burner. You can switch the case for a more cube-shaped one with a 5.25" slot:

Pink themes are hard to find unfortunately so I went with all black but with this (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Computers-Accessories/NZXT-Colour-Changing-Internal-Controller/B018YZ0H1O/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1487802148&sr=8-6&keywords=hue%2B) you can have as many pink leds as you want! If you can hold off buying until early march then do so and see what Ryzen has to offer. Other wise this should be it! I would also suggest buying a 1440p monitor to fully take advantage of the GTX 1080

Hey again!

Not sure if you'll see this but thought I'd ask you another question if you don't mind.

I've just seen this AMD processor go on sale on amazon ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8320-Edition-4-0GHz-Socket/dp/B009O7YU56/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t ) and as it happens I forgot that I do actually have my old PC with the tower and everything and was wondering if you had an idea of how well this processor compares in terms of gaming to the others you linked me and also maybe if you know of a graphics card that would go along nicely with it (I don't know whether you need different graphics cards for different processors)

Again the with the graphics card I would be looking for top performance (something which could run battlefield 3 at ultra 60fps)

Thanks again!

Also as some one who used to play wow I would recommend getting an ssd. It helps a lot with load times.

About the GPU

>Will you be overclocking?

>Idk if I should or not, I don't really know too much about it, but if recommended then sure

I wouldn't recommend it, especially given this is your first build, and you don't know much about computers.

Alright, so I ordered more or less along the lines of what you picked out, but made a couple changes.

As I said before, I got the video card from eBay and it should arrive tomorrow. The rest I ordered from Amazon today. I got an ASUS Z97-A since the H97 chipset apparently doesn't allow overclocking, and that CPU was born to be overclocked. I also got an 8GB kit of Crucial Ballistix RAM instead of the Ripjaws. And finally, I ordered an EVGA 500W Power Supply instead of the Corsair because the Corsair would take a few weeks shipping from Amazon.

It did bump up my expenses a bit, but I figure that I compensated by getting the video card pretty cheap.

I think the monitor is fine, ips panels are great. If you really wanted a new one get something with a faster refresh rate, just makes everything better:

u/LifeBeyondLiving · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Ryzen 5 at the moment outclasses the i5 lineup by a large margin, so until Intel can either outclock or outcore the Ryzen 5s, there's no reason to buy them, even for gaming. An SSD wil help your boot times way more than you think, and with this kind of budget, you're really wasting potential if you don't get one. The motherboard is changed because the board you had was an LGA1151 board, which doesn't support AMD's AM4 socket CPUs, like the 1600. Motherboards all have built-in wifi that is pretty good now, and some cat5 cable to hardwire yourself into the router if you can would be cheaper and way better than a wifi card if speed is a major concern. An optical drive isn't really needed in builds anymore, but if you really need one, this is only slightly more.

If you really want an i5 build for $1000 with no ssd, you can get this which will have way better performance than a locked CPU and 1060.

As I am not from the States I don't know if and how much they charge to send stuff to Puerto Rico. I think that amazon sends with no shipping costs. So, I'll provide two builds, one purely from amazon, the other from various stores. If there are shipping costs incurred, get the amazon build. Else get the other.

Yes, you can fit 4 more fans. If you want wireless connectivity you would need a WiFi card. I'd suggest something like this.

u/SdCrafter · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Here you go, the 8320 should stream easily, and if you need too, then you can upgrade the 8GB of ram to 16GB. Also I think you'll like this case.

The only thing i'd add to this is that when you don't activate windows 10 it leaves a huge watermark on all applications that aren't in fullscreen mode and doesn't allow you to personalize much without doing some cheap-tricks or registry-editing. There's room in your plan to go with a fully-activated copy and still not go over the $750. This is otherwise a great system!

u/TxxNES · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

you may want to upgrade the keyboard and mouse.. you said you could go over $1000 and for this you may want to. that bundle is good for the price but that will not be very comfortable for gaming.. i would suggest the following if youre willing to spend the extra money on it.

a cheap but good mechanical feeling keyboard - i once had this one and can reccoment

and for a cheap mouse - [i also had this when i started on a budget] (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G300s-Optical-Gaming-910-004360/dp/B00RH6R7C4/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1493617332&sr=8-25&keywords=gaming+mouse)

Hey all, I just put together a new PC with your suggestions and I don't have any video output. I'm not sure where the problem is. I’ve looked at these two monitors on amazon. Would you tell me what you think of them? The lower priced Acer advertises AMD freesync to eliminate screen tearing. Would that be better than using regular in game VSync?

Pc part picker, automatically searches for the lowest price at popular retailers, for instance the Ryzen 7 3700x is available at amazon but it’s a bit more at $387.

Another motherboard could have WiFi integrated in it, or an add-in card can supply WiFi capabilities

ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4 WIFI

Or an add- in card like:

Yes, the optical audio isn't going to work out of the box. However, you can buy an adapter on Amazon.

Swap the ram thats almost out of stock for this one: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427248308&sr=8-1&keywords=8gb+ddr3

Here ya go.

I could probably get it down lower if you needed but I spent more on the motherboard so you have 4 ram slots, meaning that if you use the 1 8gb stick now, in the future you can get up to 32. I could probably get this PC down to closer to 400 if I changed the graphics card to a 460 and lowered Mobo. Let me know if you want that.

The 1050 is a very capable little card. It can run any new games at medium - high settings with decent framerates. Csgo will be no problem.

I got you a 1 TB mechanical hard drive for your games and OS. I tried to fit in an SSD but I just couldn't.

If you don't know,

Ssd - no moving parts, faster, but more expensive.

Hard drive - moving parts, slower, but way cheaper.

I added around 20 pounds (I think its pounds, I'm American so not sure) of wiggle room so if you wanted, you could spring for a 240gb sad if you want your entire experience to be faster, then add a hard drive later for bulk storage.

Here's a link to dad's

Nope, I clicked on the amazon link which sent me to a page with the product titled "Microsoft OEM Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, 1-Pack, DVD"

Is that a DVD?

Not a fan of the small case personally, but with it being on Amazon prompted me to look around and i came across this. Thoughts?

If you're into rebates, I meant this one plus shipping after rebate for $24. Or this 500W for $40.

The chassis does have a dvd slot but you can buy an external one with the excess money, and if you want you can change the gpu to a rx 470 or 480.

I would like to get it as cheap as possible so any compromises you can tell me would be appreciated. Also I saw this processor for cheaper than the one listed and it has 3.5GHz compaired to the 3.2GHz, I know it's dual core compared to quad core but I'm not quite sure what that entails, I'm new to this after all. Also I know that 128gb is very little storage for a pc but depending on how much space the os will take I might be able to manage without the hard drive, but again I'm not sure.

I know with the Q300L you can unscrew the panel with all the inputs and screw it to the top side of the side panel. But I found this or this

u/quaser99 · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

They have adhesive and you can put it on anything. It comes with a remote to change colors or flash different ones, or anything you could really want. I was talking about this one specifically but one of the most popoular ones is the NZXT Hue+

u/Hashtaeg · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Ah I see, thanks. I wanted to go with an Intel cpu for the lower power consumption and the better performance/hyperthreading.
I noticed you didn't use the [8320 and I found that for 151 on Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8320FRHKBOX-FX-8320-FX-Series-Edition/dp/B009O7YU56) , if this is an error on your part I understand.

Initially I was picking out parts and so far I had a Core i3-4130, EVGA GTX 750 Ti 2gb and the same Define R4 case. I wanted to build upon from that but I came here to see what you guys would suggest.

Sorry if I sound really rubbish, this is my first attempt at building a PC and I know almost nothing about motherboards psus and coolers.

He uses an online program similar to SalesForce. So no loads on his PC other than MS Office, Photo Viewer, and maybe Windows Media Center.

What would you suggest for the CPU instead?

I'm thinking I could substitute the CPU with an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Processor w/ Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and just install an SSD to give him the speed he's looking for.

u/brentguthrie1996, I'm replying here because it's impossible to keep track of conversations in reddit's inbox.

Regarding Reviews:

  • Motherboard has no reviews because it is technically brand new, but it is just a slightly modified version of the non-max model. It has plenty of reviews on Amazon and on Newegg.
  • Memory is memory, and there's no need to look at reviews. They're all the same as long they have the same specs and come from a well-known brand.
  • Case: has 1000+ reviews on Amazon.
  • If you have any other questions about a specific part let me know.

    Motherboard Compatibility

MSI's MAX series motherboards were specifically released to be compatible with Ryzen 3000 series cpus. PCPartpicker gives you that warning because all it knows is that it is a B450 motherboard, and most B450 motherboards require a BIOS update to be compatible. However, at this point most B450 motherboards have been updated to be compatible with Ryzen 3000. The problem is if you order online instead of going into the store, you don't know if you'll get an older version that hasn't yet been updated. That's why I'm recommending the MAX motherboard which is guaranteed to be compatible.

    Note on Memory

3600mhz CL16 memory is now available at a good price. $85 G. Skill Ripjaws. You should get this instead of the 3400mhz memory in the original build.
