OK let's use your example. Hang on, this is going to be a long read.
THE BUILD THINKING PROCESS: Have realistic goals for your budget and build the highest resolution to fps ratio you can get for the money with a target of 60fps minimum for at least 75% of the time.
When I make a build I almost always include an adaptive sync monitor (freesync/gsync) in the budget because of exactly your scenario.
When enabled, the average person CANNOT distinguish in the middle of a fight between 130 and 144fps. Now you're going to get that super APM Korean here who will claim they can but on average most people cannot consistently distinguish above even 120hz....Linus tech tips and a bunch of other respected tech youtubers have fleshed this out ad nauseum.
With this in mind, adaptive sync alone can often mitigate loss of frames vs what you actually notice when playing, thus slightly future proofing your needs to upgrade immediately on a new hardware cycle.
When a friend, family member or colleague asks for a pc build the following questions come into play:
In addition, I also explain the difference in most games between med, high and ultra settings and what things you could turn off to increase frames and not notice much difference in overall gameplay (e.g. Turn off Hairworks, Reduce shadows appropriately, at higher resolutions there is little need for higher AA, etc.)
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT UPGRADE PATH:
According to most recent Steam Hardware Survey the vast majority of gamers are rocking 1050ti/1060 level of cards. These are 1080p medium to high settings cards that can deliver 30-120+ fps depending on game.
I tell them there is ZERO need to upgrade even when new hardware comes out IF you are happy with the current FPS of games you are playing. Seriously. Who gives a shit if all they want to play are esports titles like DOTA, LOL, Overwatch, Rocket League, Fortnite, etc and are getting 60fps+ and frankly typically 100+fps in those titles with those GPUs. Why bother upgrading a 3-5 year old system at all if your gaming experience is good and you are pleased with the current results.
When to upgrade then? When a game comes out that you know you want to play outperforms your current setup and you are willing to pay to meet the performance bar. Depending on title, this MOST of the time doesn't even require anything more than a GPU upgrade if they already have a solid CPU and RAM config.
I'll give you the perfect example. I had a colleague who was playing mostly esports titles with a 1060ti rocking a i5 4690k with 16GBs of DDR3 but now wanted to start playing more graphic intensive games such as Witcher 3 and Monster Hunter World PC at 60fps+ and he thought he had to buy an entire new computer and came to me. He currently has a 144hz 1080p IPS gsync monitor. I said no way man. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. His rig specific for gaming is still quite playable in most titles. I asked him if he was happy to keep his current playing resolution (1080p gsync) or if MIGHT consider going 1440p in the near future. He said he was sure he wanted to stay at 1080p for now. I suggested he just upgrade to a 2060 for $350ish bucks. He ended up getting a 2060 for a little over $350 and is extremely happy with this upgrade path. Here he thought he was going to have to spend $1500+ and was perfectly happy with the $350 upgrade.
THE BUILD ITSELF:
I take my sweet ass time and tell them it will take at least a week before I'm done building when all parts arrive (even though I can knock out most builds in a few hours) so I have no rush on myself as I build PC's for a relaxing hobby and not a job. Some people build legos or models. I like building PC's.
Long read. I hope it helps save you some money and make a more informed PC building decision.
Most of the monitors here are free sync and I would say have good implementations however I will include a Gsync category.

I would not recommend 4k for the 2080. It would be able to run games around 60 fps at 4k however refresh rate will make things more enjoyable. Also, 4k high refresh rate monitors are currently very expensive.

Good value companies to look at:
Viotek
Pixio (Did not list since availability issues but worth looking at)

TL;DR of VA vs IPS
IPS has slightly better viewing angles than VA.
IPS has slightly better colors VA.
IPS has better response time than VA.
However, VA does not have defects like IPS glow and much better contrast, so much better blacks and such.

TL;DR of TN vs IPS
IPS has much better viewing angles than TN. TN will color shift if looked at straight on.
IPS has much better colors than TN.
TN has the best response rate.
TN is basically worse in every way than VA and IPS except for response time.

Here are a few of what I think are decent deals that I picked out:
CPU | Lowest price PCPP | Microcenter | MC savings
---|-----------------|-----------|-----------
i7-8700K | $369.99 | $329.99 | $40
i7-8086K | $422.90 | $379.99 | $42.91
Ryzen 7 1800X | $249.99 | $199.99 | $50
Threadripper 1950X | $699.87 | $649.99 | $49.88
i9-7940X | $1124.99 | $999.99 | $124
i9-7980XE | $1819.99 | $1,699.99 | $120
Lop off another $30 with the motherboard that you were going to buy anyway, and that's around $70-80 off for the two of them anywhere else normally for the CPUs you're likely to actually want to buy. The last two are obviously a bit of a goof, but they are in fact deals, and you did say "if you find another deal I’ll beat it again" after arguing that "it’s a better deal, because you save more money." I'd say saving $124 is quite a lot. You get a CPU with an MSRP of $1,400 for about $400 off. It’s a better deal, because you save more money.
Have you checked Amazon? They usually have these SSDs along the same price tag. I’ve seen them 85-100$ USD. There’s a Western Digital version of that SSD for about 88$ USD. There’s also a Crucial version of that SSD for about 88$ USD on Amazon. Not sure if it’s more expensive in AUS on Amazon. Hope I helped.
Edit: I’ll link you the items I’m talking about
This is the WD model
WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive - WDS500G2B0A https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SBZ8YH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I9xPBb4VDW1BD
I personally own the WD one and it’s been pretty good so far.
Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT500MX500SSD1(Z) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0784SLQM6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_N.xPBb0HSAM8T
My friend owns the Crucial model and has told me good things about it.
Here is the Samsung model you’re looking for
Samsung 860 Evo 500GB 2.5 inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AbyPBbF2HH21P
The WD and Crucial models read and write faster than the Samsung model according to the info on Amazon. And they’re cheaper. WD also has a M.2 2280 version of the SSD which is easier to install IMO and it’s the same price.
Just my long two cents but, in games where 144 Hz is actually significant (and attainable if we're being honest, you won't be hitting 144 fps on a lot of modern single player games) you can hit the 144 Hz dreamland with a 1070 or Fury X (I think) at 1440p - so the FreeSync/GSync is less important. You can also use an RX 480 and down scale to 1080p and get 144 fps/Hz that way and then enjoyable performance at 1440p on modern, single player games and get more use out of FreeSync/GSync.
In the only games that really matter with 144 frames (imo) - you can attain the high frames needed with things like the 1070, RX 480 or Fury X one way or another. It's not like you'll need a 1080 Ti to get 144 frames at 1440p on Overwatch, CS:GO, League, etc.
I won't deny FreeSync/GSync are useful, but in my opinion it's more useful in games and resolutions where your card simply can't hit desirable frame rates such as 60 or 144. I once bought a 4K FreeSync monitor where my RX480 was clearly not going to get me 144 frames in any game but I bought it anyways since it was my first AMD card. Getting into FreeSync range at 4K and 1440p was a dream. While my frames were lower than the 60-75 I'd get at 1080p, the game just felt so weirdly smooth thanks to FreeSync.
So don't sweat it that you can't use FreeSync if you play competitive games since your 1070 will have you at, around or above 144 frames. Likewise, a 1070 is good enough to get you great frame rates in other single player games like The Witcher 3.
If you want public, the NVX XPT100 is great. Not the most portable, but noise isolation is good while still having good soundstage for a set of closed cans. Also the most comfortable set you'll wear that doesn't cost $250+, especially if you use their angled ear pads that are included. The price is normally $80, so ignore the $100 listed and wait a bit for the decent priced sellers to get more in stock.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093PVTPS/
If you want better quality and you're OK with paying more, the new Sennheiser 598 Cs (Cs are closed, other letter version are open) are amazing. $100 is a good sale price, which it's at now.
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS
I just ordered a pair of these tonight, but I'm lost on what amp to get. I am completely new to any sort of advanced audio like this and have only owned gaming headsets and meh-tier earbuds all my life. With that in mind, I don't think I have the most discerning of ears yet and it would probably be a waste to spend 200 on a Schiit stack or 02+ODAC combo, especially considering that's over double the price of my headphones! I would prefer to keep amp/DAC totals to be in the $100 ballpark.

My first question - is a DAC even necessary for these? I'm still not entirely sure what it does, since all of the explanations I've seen have been in audiophile jargon that is gibberish to me. Can I get away with running only an amp or a amp/DAC combo?

A cheap option I've seen while shopping around is a amp/DAC combo as mentioned previously. I've heard SUPER mixed reviews of pairing these 250-Ohm headphones with a Fiio e10k, some saying it works great, but others saying the complete opposite. I've also heard good and bad things about SMSL products like the SMSL SD793-II, one mention highly recommending the iBasso D-Zero Mk2, and another few people recommending the CMOY.

What are my best options here? I would appreciate any help I can get. Sorry for the long post and thank you!
Here's a Ryzen 5 2600 for just $150 w/ free shipping (and inc. stock cooler obv, even if the Stealth is nothing to write home about), which provides simlar perfomance (and superior IPC if you can believe it, with Zen+ edging out both Haswell-E & Broadwell-E) stock vs stock to an i7-6850K in both single & multi-threaded workloads (unless it's something extremely memory bound, that can properly take advantage of X99's quad-channel DDR4), but running cooler, quieter, more efficient, and for just 1/2 the price for a brand new chip that's on a current AND future-proof platform with great boards available for just $70ish.
AM4 has pretty much made every single pre-X299 Intel HEDT platform essentially obsolete for those that don't need it's expanded I/O & memory sub-systems (which Intel would still gimp to varying extents on all but the flagship SKU anyways), and for those people that's what AMD's X399/Threadripper platform is for (which beats X299/ Skylake-X|Cascade Lake-X across the board on both those fronts).
And if your workload priorities happen to lean towards the multi-threaded side, 1st Gen but 8c/16t R7 1700's (which will lose on ST, but dominate on MT vs an i7-6850K after both are reasonably overclocked) are a similar price new as the 2600, and w/ a bigger, better included cooler (Spire RGB vs Stealth).
Literally Intel's only remaining purchasing arguments are for those few who want the best single-threaded perfomance available, totally irregardless of cost/value (see the i9-9900K), and those unlucky few whose workload(s) leave them dependant on Thunderbolt support (which is exactly why freely licensable USB 3.1 Gen 2 [10Gb/s, aka 1.25GB/s, or equal BW to TB1] compatible devices should have been widely available like damn yesterday).

I just got this Pecham XXL mouse pad on Amazon for $10 about a week ago, I'm super happy with it, although I wish they would have put the starting/finishing point of the edge stitching at the top-left instead of the bottom-left.
It's half the price, great quality and seems like it'll last me forever. I've only ever owned a wristrest from Glorious (given free for review) and I really wasn't thrilled with the quality of it especially considering the retail price.
I have a pair and they've got fantastic instrument separation. If you lie down in the dark and focus on the track, you can very clearly distinguish every note that every part plays (probably to the point where you'd be able to transcribe the music quite accurately). I would not quantify the bass as weak; it has punch, even if not earth-shaking.
However, they have a laid back feel - they might feel slow for someone listening to fast, dynamic, lively music. They're great for anything, but if you discriminate and need the phones to closely suit the genre, then these are probably best for classical, jazz and movies.
They're also larger than the ATH M-series phones, but are said to be more comfortable because of their lesser headband clamping force.
But with regard to what you said, though I got mine for $99, $156 is still half price, a fantastic value.
One final caveat - the HD 598 phones come with a detachable 3.5 mm-in 6.3 mm-out cable, which will not be connectible to a computer or portable music player, and you'll have to resort to the included adaptor, which may be impractical for some users. This cable would alleviate that problem ($16).
Hah, yeah. My motherboard has some fancy gaming Dac/Amp, but truly they are kind of meh compared to dedicated hardware (they definitely won't push anything with an impedance of more than 50 Ohms too well). Once you have obtained your favorite headphones, you can invest in your own DAC and Amp eventually. I recommend the FiiO E10K DAC/Amp combo at minimum once you start dabbling into hifi.
Are you sure you bought that exact one? Because it absolutely has VESA compatibility -- it is literally only VESA-compatible.
Also, as you can see from the diagram, it is quite adjustable. In fact, both items have the exact same set of rotational axes -- the only thing that could vary between the two are the angles through which each axis rotates and the length of the arms. The Monoprice mount must have longer arms, if it's able to hold 34" monitors, making it more adjustable. But to say one is much more adjustable than the other seems over-dramatic. Something like this would be much less adjustable.
Also, some of the adjustable screws are concealed by plastic casings. They easily pop off, allowing access to adjust them, but the instruction manual failed to mention their existence. I only knew to look for them because I saw them referenced in a review. Perhaps, because the instruction manual doesn't mention them, you weren't aware of these extra adjustable parameters and misinterpreted the mount as less adjustable than it really is?
I have this one, which is the single-arm version of the one I linked above and I think it is very well-built/sturdy. The Monoprice is probably sturdier -- it would need to be, in order to hold more weight. If you need to mount something bigger than 27", definitely go with the Monoprice. But I have used the North Bayou mount to mount a XB270HU, XB271HU, XG2703-GS, and an older/heavier LG monitor -- all of which are 27" -- and the mount is rock-solid.
I'm not saying that the North Bayou is better than the Monoprice -- I've never used a Monoprice monitor mount and can't make that comparison. In fact, I would assume the Monoprice is better, since it can hold larger monitors. But the Monoprice is more expensive and, for me, the cheapest shipping is $12.19, bringing the total cost to $63.38, before tax. The North Bayou mount is only $38.16, before tax, making it $25 / 40% cheaper, and comes from Amazon. In my own experience, it is very sturdy and highly adjustable -- if my 27" monitors are being sturdily held in place and can be adjusted through any of the positions I'd realistically use, I don't think I'd gain anything from spending the extra cash.
I just want to make the distinction to anybody reading this that, even though the Monoprice mount might be a little sturdier/more adjustable, the North Bayou is absolutely more than adequate and is a crowd-favorite on r/buildapcsales (search through the previous listings, everyone speaks very highly of them and considers them to be exceptional quality for the price, including myself). Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but, if you're only mounting 27" monitors or smaller, the North Bayou option seems like a no-brainer to me.
NVMe is MUCH faster than Sata SSD. Is that what you're asking?
M.2 is the connection but there are two types of drives that use this port.
One is SATA ssd (6gbs) which is the same speed as a typical 2.5 sata ssd.
But the NVMe (32gbs) is many times faster than that. (It uses PCI bandwidth instead of sata which is part of the reason its so fast.)
Its noticeably faster if you're doing content creation like editing and such. And while it is slightly noticeable in game load times and day-to-day PC use, most people don't feel the extra $$ is worth the upgrade to NVMe. (I am not one of those people lol. I like speeeeeed)
Have this. Phenomenal monitor. However, I would recommend Alienware AW3418DW for $30 more. The Alienware one has an updated panel and Dell's warranty is the shit.
Just be prepared to play the panel lottery. I had to go through 3 before I found one where the bleed/glow was at acceptable levels.
Also note: FREE delivery: Dec 17 - Jan 16 as of this comment posting.
I also really like these, great headphones at a great price. However the stock cords suck pretty hard unless you like grippy rubber cables. I picked up these as a replacement, and fully recommend them for anyone else who doesn't like the stock cable:
http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Audio-upgrade-Sennheiser-Headphones/dp/B00KAKBHKM?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02
Since people are talking about cord length, I thought I'd chime in with a small recommendation. If anyone is interested, I purchased these awesome cables for my 598SEs. Just the right length and excellent and sturdy fit. Might be a good rec for those looking to replace the cables that come with these headphones.
Do you know if you like blue style switches? If you have a Microcenter near you you can test the switches out.
IMO, blue style and brown style are the most "normal." I have Cherry MX browns in mine and I love it. When I tested the blues, I liked them as well, however, I wasn't a fan of the click sound.
Having never had this keyboard, $20 isn't a bad intro, but I wouldn't expect much. It would be a good way to see if you like mechanical keyboards or not.
Here's one that's been recommended by Linus for $30.
Round-up review of cheap mechanical keyboards by Linus.
Edit: Another $30 keyboard on Amazon
Just an example, not necessarily a recommendation, and obviously it's a very different price bracket but this line is very popular and relatively well priced for what you get: http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/
Something like that. This one is also a DAC (Digital Audio Converter). It doesn't use the line out from your headphone jack, it uses USB and then converts from digital to analog itself, as well as including an amplifier.
However, if you want something to hook up to a receiver as well then look elsewhere (not something that uses USB input). These are much more common and scale from this price range into the thousands.
I have these and I love them. The sound quality is pretty decent. No issues hearing anything or with my friends hearing me. In audio lag either. The one thing I will recommend is changing the ear pad. The new pads help change the sound and provide a ton more comfort.

I paid $260 for the 1440p version of this. I would have definitely went with this one if it was such a good price a week ago. It's probably not worth returning my current monitor to save $80...
Your post is one of the best deals this sub has seen on a cheap 144hz monitors
For smaller monitors their 17-27" model is really good, on sale for 21 right now: https://www.amazon.com/North-Bayou-Monitor-Computer-14-3lbs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/
Obviously doesn't compete with high end mounts. Maxes out at 9" over my desk with a 24" monitor, which I wish was a little higher, but it seems like most issues people have with these are with obtuse instructions. Considering it is made in china, and sold by unknown brand, I was pleasantly surprised by it's sturdiness.
The pads are apparently replaceable since CoolerMaster carries them in their store but I am unsure which Brainwavz would fit on these. (Maybe the ones that fit the M40X?)
But the stock pads are a rare breed, they are super comfy! Any reason why you would want to replace them with the Brainwavz?
If you get the 598 C's from Amazon Warehouse "Like New" for $77, they come with a mic built in the cable. Also, the cable they come with is actually usable by normal people, compared to the 558's which terminates in a giant plug that you have to adapt down to 3.5mm, and risk it breaking a port with how it sticks out.
Be aware though that to use the mic you must be plugging into a 4-pole audio port, rather than a standard 3-pole port. 4-pole is usually found on laptops, phones, tablets, iMacs, and that sort of thing. PC MOBO's separate the 4-pole into a normal 3-pole headphone, and another 3.5mm port for a mic.
If you need a seperate mic, or just want better quality, I'd recommend a ModMic 4 on sale around $45. Personally I think their omni-directional mics sound better as well than their uni-directional ones. Here's a decent deal on ebay, especially if you can wait for an ebay 20% off code.
I got mine from amazon. Assuming your desk supports a clamp mount, super happy with this.

I think that's what's in the Redragon and they seem fine to me. I find the keyboard very pleasant to type on. My son plays CS:GO a lot and he says that KB is great for it.
Again, I don't use that one daily, it's on my son's PC. My own 2 keyboards that I actually use have Cherry blues and browns.
I would recommend trying them out once they arrive, then deciding if you need more power. You might be happy with how they sound out of the box, nothing wrong with that! If you did want something to amplify them I would recommend the FX Audio DAC X6 for home or the Fiio E10k for a portable setup.
Here you go
I've had these since september and they're still flawless. I've went through two other sets of other brands and these are so much better. Hope you enjoy!
Looks good, but missing VESA. If their wasn't an adapter available it would be complete trash. Considering you need to buy a VESA adapter for this brings down the value, but at least you can add VESA to it. The specs look good, and I hear good things about it.
If you're willing to trust Amazon Warehouse (which has free returns) with a Like New listing, you can get it right now for $512+tax.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a dual arm mount? I bought two of these monitors and want to get a good mount for them. I see some on amazon for like 30$ with high reviews. Are people just using those or what?
Any suggestion on this is much appreciated. Thanks.
Here is one I looked into that seems good but of cheaper build: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RpH9Bb7BYGB1R
Here is one from AmazonBasics which seems to have “premium” quality construction but it’s quite expensive: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MIBN71I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XqI9BbBNJY5J4
EDIT; I’ve ended up purchasing the expensive Amazon Basics one. From my research, the durability, weight, and adjustment of monitors seems to be simply much better than the 30$ mount. Also, most folks have said there isn’t much monitor movement or anything when you tighten the tension - that’s key for me. Monitors moving at all after mounting drives me crazy.
I bought these a few years back. Turned me into a huge Sennheiser fan boy. The comfort and durability alone are notable. Add-in that the sound quality brings you into the realm of audiophile-grade and you have a huge reason to buy whenever they go on sale.
I have the 558 in my laptop bag for gaming on the go, a pair of HD518 for use with the Vive, and the Massdrop HD6xx on my main PC setup.
I've been wanting to grab another set for work, was hoping to grab the 598 and "complete the set." But this is tempting.

I use the following replacement cables with mine:
Along with this compact budget DAC/Amp for the 558 (Schiit Stack for the HD6xx):
Is this better than this samsung 4k 60hz monitor I can get for $270 with my amazon echo? Also, as far as I can tell it is a TN panel, not IPS, but if anyone can confirm I would appreciate it.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00YD3DBOC?pc_redir=T1
Thanks
Welcome man! Also I picked up https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDT894/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Sh0ZCb9J7XZ2M
Saw that in one of the comments above, tons of good reviews and might make this headset even better.
Those are good points. Thinking about trying out this one. Would make my desk a lot easier to dust. Can these clamp-mounts really support the weight of two 27" monitors?
The most difficult part was getting off the adhesive from the old pads, stretching them over was also a little bit tedious but it was definitely worth it in the end because the default ear cups are very shallow. I'd estimate 80% of people's ears would touch the inner material. And yeah, I believe the red velour memory foam model is the one currently on sale on Amazon.
edit: These are the ones I got, also currently on sale https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Replacement-Memory-Foam-Earpads/dp/B00MFDT894/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1499035647&sr=8-4&keywords=brainwavz+earpads
How do these compare to the ATH-M40x? I've had those since November and the reviews I read suggested the M40x were more neutral sounding so I went with those. But seeing the M50x go on sale so often for the same price has made me question if I made the right choice in going with the lower end model.
As far as the M50x, if anyone thinks the bass is too overwhelming I recommend the Brainwavz HM5 pleather ear pads. They place the drivers farther away from the ears to reduce the low end, and as a bonus they add extra comfort. Their velour pads further reduce bass (the material is slightly open) and are extremely comfortable.
The North Bayou mount that was posted here awhile ago is incredibly stable for the price.
It's out of stock on amazon, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AI2YGK4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
But you can still get it on Ebay

Can anyone advise if this is a good buy with the giant discount right now? I’ve been hunting for a 34” ultrawide 1440p 21:9 144hz gsync. The problem with this one is that it’s only “120hz overclocked”, and I’m curious how big the difference between that and a full 144hz one would be? I’m planning to upgrade to a 2080 super next week when they release. The price here just seems fantastic for almost exactly what I’m after. Any thoughts?
This seems like a pretty good deal..had it in my cart and it dropped from $145 to $115.99.

More or less. Picture wise they will be close enough. The aesthetics of the monitors are fairly close. The XB271HU has a very different stand and I would recommend you throw these up on some type of VESA mount double arm. Something like this:https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Mount-Adjustable-Screens/dp/B009S750LA/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1523389920&sr=1-5&keywords=27+inch+monitor+arm
The bezels look close from screenshots and the only glaring difference I see is the branding in the bottom. If that doesn't bother you then go for it!
This one is a really good lightning deal, Happy Birthday!

I got the m50's for Christmas, the right ear pad was sewn smaller than the left making my ear get pinched. Sent em' back and upgraded to the M50x's. These are sweet headphones.
In my research I saw a post that said upgrading the speaker wires improves the soundstage. Sounds like stuffy audiophile stuff, so of course I was all in. I ordered these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KAKBHKM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Waiting for both from Amazon. Can't wait. I wish it came with the protective case tho.
I have the yeti too. Agreed, it barely fit under the bottom of mine when attached to the stand, I would always have to bend the bottom of the cable. The one you linked, or this 4ft version are both great.
The default cable they provide does not work with headphones, as it's actually the larger plug (what are they, 6.5mm?), with a 3.5mm adapter. You can buy a different cable from these guys, which will fit much better, or mod the headset to accept 3.5mm cables (requires removing the locking mechanism).
Have this monitor and love it! I bought this mount as the stock one is kinda crap. I will be buying 2 more of these as 144hz is best hz
Got my wife this one to match her white/blue setup and she's been using it happily for a few months: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MQH59A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Dual Mount desk attachment.
I have this screen and a 23" in portrait mode. The mount is pretty solid. It is much better than the mount the screen comes with.
Others have mentioned that you have to take the bezel apart to VESA mount this, so just be aware and careful when you do.
I have two of these. One at work and one at home. Mine are slightly different (I got this one). Both have 2 24 inch monitors on them. Pretty awesome product. I always laugh when people spend hundreds on crappy plastic mounts that take up half of their desk space; this takes up about 3 square inches..
Anyone have experience with the Samsung U28E590D monitor??
It seems like a pretty solid deal. I was looking at that or the Acer G247HYU
I like these, but to get the display in exactly the right place they require more space behind the desk because of the shape of the arms usually. I still prefer the ones that are just a pole sticking up with 2 arms reaching outwards that have 3 axis movement like this type (I don't have this one and have no idea if it's good, it's just an example)
If you have a desk or table against a wall or something, this is something to consider.

I guess it's better than a rubber dome + membrane keyboard, but if you have even $15 more to spend on a keyboard then don't get this (cheap mechs on amazon are better).
Romer-G switches are really no fun. Their primary design goal was to have even lighting. They do that well, but don't type well as a result.
EDIT: Here's an review covering this. A key issue with Romer G tactile switches is that the tactile bump is so weak, that the switches are nearly linear.
You might have good luck with pricing in your area, but under $500 for just three parts would be quite easy. r5 2600 + msi b450 tomahawk + Corsair 16gb 3000mhz comes out to <$300.
If you prefer 3rd gen ryzen: r5 3600 + asus tuf x570 (wifi) + same Corsair ram comes out to <$450.
Amazon Price History for the Acer
Lowest Amazon has ever listed it is $649.
Edit: The reason I’m providing this info is because I have a PG279Q, it’s amazing, and I’ve been watch both brands (Acer and Asus) to get a matching one. This was the best price I have seen yet. Neither brand has been routinely below $500 since I’ve been watching. They are almost always $600+
I use these, I like them more than other fabric cloth covers since these do not cause as much sweat therefore also not itching. Plus side is that they are also easier to clean.
Samsung is the best in regards of SSD I have seen so far:

If you want to install your OS + some programs, you can get this cheaper and less size version:
https://www.amazon.com/Blue-NAND-250GB-SSD-WDS250G2B0A/dp/B073SB2MXW/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525363665&sr=1-3&keywords=western+digital+ssd
If you are pushing for more storage, get a 3.5 HDD ( TB size depending on what you want) with 7200rpm, not as quick as an SSD, but good enough for having more memory without paying a lot.
I use the headphone jack on the front of my tower and with the adapter, it was sticking out way too far for my liking. Felt like it was just a matter of time before I would accidentally hit it and bend/break it. Also, the length of the cable was super long, I had to roll half of it up just to keep it out of the way.
I ended up getting this:
https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Audio-upgrade-Sennheiser-Headphones/dp/B00KAKBHKM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482442694&sr=8-1&keywords=hd558+replacement+cable
Solved both my problems of the adapter sticking out and the cable was just the right length.
Edit: Braided cable is nice too :p
Since there is a lot of processing of information going on around the motherboard there may be some kind of electrical interference affecting your audio output. In my case I would hear faint squeaking through my headphones when my GPU usage was high. Right now I have a FiiO E10K external Amp/DAC and it works great with my HD558's and HD598Cs, solved all my issues. I personally have not had any experience with Creative's solutions.
I got this mouse pad not too long ago on sale for like 7.99. Its amazing! Its soft enough to cushion when I pick up and put down (slam in frustration) my mouse and its HUGE it fits my entire G910 Spectrum with room to spare for my mouse. Plus this has stitched edges and the logo came off easily with rubbing alcohol if you're into that. And as of posting this its only 9.99 so its even cheaper than the corsair.
Edit: one thing worth noting is that the texture is just a liiiiitle rougher than I was expecting. It feels good with the mouse but your wrist may not like rubbing against it very much.
I have 598s and use this. I've never used the Schiit stack but used my FiiO E10k every day for two years and love it.

My desk is super long and I dont use all of it, but the whole monitor setup will fit comfortably on a desk around 60", maybe as low as 40". It really depends on how/where you mount the monitor stands.
I've never bought from buydig. Is it a pretty good site to buy from?
Also, what do you guys think of this monitor vs this Acer R240HY?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Brainwavz pads have never gone below $15. You definitely ordered fakes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDT894/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

anyone have any experience with this monitor?
/u/rendabs offered a better option:

25 inch 240hz 1080p ≠ 27 inch 144hz 1080p
Pixel density would be superior on the AW.
If you are going 27inch, 1440p should be a minimum.
Dell S2719DGF goes for the same price frequently which would be a better buy over Acer.
Still two completely different monitors. Atleast link another 240hz
I would HIGHLY recommend getting an IPS LED display which can commonly be found for $100-$110. The Acer R240HY is on sale right now for $130. The colors are just so much more vibrant and accurate with an IPS display over TN. Downside of IPS is that they are more susceptible to backlight bleeding and on average, are slower than TN displays.

As the other guy said $160 with 15% cash back + you get Game Bundle: Get Borderland 3 or The Outer World PC game plus 3 months of Xbox Game Pass as well.
So it's $6 more on amazon basically.
assuming you have an amazon credit card
Can anyone speak to the quality difference between this and the S2719DGF? I know the 19 is newer and has FreeSync instead of G-SYNC. I have an Nvidia card for what it’s worth but as I understand it those can also use FreeSync
It’s $320 on Amazon so if the screen quality or something is significantly better I’d rather go for that
DO NOT USE THESE, they make it VERY easy to break your 3.5mm jack.
Instead, use something like this that separates the 1/4" section from the smaller jack:

I don't know much about monitors, really, but I've been meaning to get one for a while now since I have an old generic 1366x766 60hz one from like 10 years ago. Would anyone please tell me what makes this one better than this one. It's A $20 price difference which isn't that much and they both have similar specs.
I have the IPS version of this monitor, and while the stand isn't bad, I ended up grabbing one of these desk mount swivel arms and absolutely love it. Can't beat the price either.

Cable Management: involves the cable raceway attached below the desk using Command Strips from Wal-Mart. The cord management sleeves came in 4 pieces and I used that to organize all the wires. I have the speaker remote attached next to the lifting mechanism under the desk which is nice for quick volume control. The sub-woofer is placed on the desktop due my preference of having the fewest number of cables coming down from the desk. The one cord that hangs down is the power strip that runs to the outlet. The power strip is placed within the c-clamp of one of the monitor arms.

Price: I was able to get a lower price in September 2018 at Office Depot using a 20% off coupon that was in general circulation. The final price with taxes and shipping to store was $149.90. But, I would gladly pay the $159.99 listed here.

Overall, I love the desk. In fact, I bought another one for my wife. The ability to switch between standing and sitting with the lifting mechanism is well worth the low price I paid. The setup requires minimal effort to lift - I personally use two hands for stability. I do think that an addition of a computer tower on the desktop will make it difficult, but not impossible, to lift. There is mention of wobbling in one of the review videos on YouTube, but it is barely noticeable on a day to day use. I will say that my only complaint is the desktop is not solid wood and I have experienced a bit of surface lift after a cup with condensation was left on the desktop overnight. I recommend using a coaster if you plan to having drinks on your desk.
I'm right there with you. I'm currently on the LG 34UC88. Looking to upgrade to the Alienware AW3418DW this holiday season. And you're right, ultrawide is a game changer. People ask questions like how far do you sit from the computer and they don't understand the extra periphal on screen makes a huge difference, not only for immersion but for a cinematic experience. I feel like I'm a high class establishment when I use my PC.

For $19.50 these seem pretty popular. In the questions section people have commented that they have used them for m50s
Keep your eyes on Amazon. I just bought an openbox from Amazon Warehouse this week for 585 w/prime. Plus, you get to deal with their return policy, which is fantastic compared to most:
Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" WQHD (2560x1440) NVIDIA G-SYNC IPS Display, (Display Port & HDMI Port, 144Hz) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0173PEX20/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GGqtzbEPPVKRS
Can't decide for you, but as I've been shopping for a monitor lately, this might interest you as well, also a 23.8 inch acer.
Not really sure why they have so many different fucking models of the same size but whatever
There's the Vesa mount adapter for Acer monitor:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DAYRXRK/ref=twister_B00O5H363W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I don't know how good this is since I don't own one, but from the review. They seems pretty solid.
I use these:
https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Adapter-Monitors-XG270HU-G277HL/dp/B01DAYRXRK
Work perfectly fine. I didn't want to put my own mount on because I'm too afraid I won't get it line up properly across all my monitors.
Just ordered one, been waiting for a sale since I waterlogged my monitor by lifting a bookshelf over my desk alone like an idiot.
My old monitor is below, I'm hoping the upgrade to 144hz is better than the 4k. I honestly didn't care for the 4k as many games don't support the resolution and UIs are always tiny.
Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch 4k UHD LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YD3DBOC
I have a 1080, but I didn't want to spend extra for gsync. Do you need freesync to use 144hz? I also saw a workaround posted for using freesync and Nvidia but it looks like you need an AMD card to boot to?
I don't like it but this case goes perfect with this monitor or any of the PREDATOR line.
Looks like Acer has been creeping up the price of these refurbished units. I'm pretty sure this exact model used to be $500 on the refurbished store and $400 for the older XB270HU.
This almost isn't worth it when you can get the monitor new for $765, but that's still a personal choice if that extra ~$165 is worth new.
Just looked and if you're OK with Amazon Warehouse it's listed for $625.97+tax - easier returns IMO

Any good headphone deals I wont need a mic and being portable would be nice?
Edit: Incase anyone is looking for something similar to what I was, I ended up getting these guys currently $100.
The amp is the Fiio.
Gaming and movies, yes, but their audio isn't as important to me.
I listen to a lot of different things. An assortment of metal (progressive, djent, etc), some orchestral/classical, prog rock... mostly everything but rap or country.
My experience with decent headphones is limited to the ATH-M50s. I found them to be good, but a little too muddled and bass-heavy. I'm not sure which kind of frequency response I prefer, which makes it hard.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
You can find Chinese extended mousepads for around $10 all day everyday. Different designs or color cost more, but most share the same measurements and specs as these. Example:
Flags for $9
Old timey pirate ship and world map for $17
Tons of randomness for $21
ENCHANCE for $20
Some more randomness for $16
Simple colors but double the thicnkess (6mm) for $20
And more if you keep looking.
OK just to be certain, this is the same SSD as featured here correct?

Was about to buy this when I saw https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-U28E590D-28-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00YD3DBOC/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1536340719&sr=1-7&keywords=1440p+monitor&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A3547807011 on Amazon. Is there a reason to not get the Samsung? Slightly bigger and with free shipping for prime
what about these?
I have these sony extra bass headphones but recently broke them after a year. So im looking for a replacement.

I bought one of these ahead of my first build (I use it currently as an external for a MacBook). It's a nice monitor but I think the stand and housing are kind of cheap seeming, though I ended up liking the burnt orange bezel.
I'm thinking about trying out one of VESA mounts.
For those who prefer the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB M.2 SATA Internal SSD (MZ-N6E1T0BW) Amazon and Newegg both currently have it for $289.99USD including Far Cry 5 code. I bought this exact monitor back in 2018 around black friday for the same price it is listed for currently if that helps at all. I really like the monitor and have had it overclocked to 120hz since the day I bought it with no issues. Although YMMV because it is not guaranteed to be stable at 120hz.
> ASRock Z170 Extreme7+
Reading a review on this great motherboard it's got one of the best audio codecs (like my Asus Z170i Pro Gaming) but no headphone amp. If you want to get these headphones I suggest going with an external dac/amp combo like this one. Ofcourse this would add expense that may not be worth it to you. You could instead get the Sennheiser 558 plus an external mic could be easily driven straight from your motherboard.
For those that are concerned with having to use a adapter for 3.5 jacks, you can buy a replacement cable such as this, or some other company. I have the HD598 SE (which came with the 3.5 cable), so have not given this particular company a try — but from reading the reviews it seems theirs is better than the original Sennheiser replacement cables.

is this dell monitor a smart choice for a nvidia gtx 1060 6gb. planning on playing fairly graphically intense stuff
i don't really understand why anyone needs a mousepad under their keyboard, but wtvr.
I wish the medium size anti-fray mat was a better price. The non-stitched pads last about a year for me at most.
also, i have no idea if this is a good brand, but here's a stitched extended pad for $11: https://smile.amazon.com/PECHAM-Extended-Gaming-Mouse-30-71x11-81-Inch/dp/B014CP231W
ACER I believe sells a couple of G-sync and Freesync versions of their 144hz AHVA monitors, however none I've seen have come close to being as cheap (I exclude refurbished in that figure, perhaps those have gotten closer)
You're looking at almost double the price for a modern G-sync variant.
The older model is often the same price, more expensive, or maybe $30 less. Can't really suggest that one then. Maybe a deal will pop up on that, but it would need to be a huge discount for me to personally do it.
Acer's g-sync option is also hovering around $750.
If you did one, I'd suggest the Asus one, as it's 165hz. If you're gunna spend all that money, might as well.
just a chinese keyboard 70 list doesnt mean much. uses chinese knockoff switches..
amazon 20-30 are just as good as these gamdias.

I gave my roommate the single arm NB version of that for his LG 29" ultrawide and it works great.
I think the Soundblaster Z is by far the best soundcard for under $100. It was actually on sale for $70 two months ago. It offers not only the best virtual surround on the market today, but also a free 600 omh headphone amplifier, which is just nuts for value. In addition, the Z offers a free beam-forming mic in case you don't have the money or need for buying an external mic for your headset, which is even more value. I don't recommend the Zx or the ZxR as they are a waste of money and offer no extra value unless you're a professional on Youtube or Twitch.
The Titanium series cards are all over 3 years old and scale poorly with modern games. They are great for music and movies, but not gaming. They are also fairly expensive for what they offer.
The Asus Xonar, STX, Essence cards are similar to Titanium cards in that they are poor for gaming, however they are epic for music. Most audiophiles swear by Asus cards for home theater setups. For PC use they are just awful though; Asus drivers are always 2+ years older than what they should be and always have compatibility problems.
Oh, as for a cheap external DAC/Amp, this is the way to go: http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1422512042&sr=8-3&keywords=headphone+amplifier
Everyone on Headfi swears by it, but personally I went with the Soundblaster Z, as I needed both a headphone amp and a means to power my home 5.1 theater speakers.
idk what hes talking about with the 15% but i assume its this?

Quite a few in this price range, probably can't go wrong with any of them. You'll be ecstatic about any of them compared to what you're using.
AOC C24G1 Curved 24" $144.99

Compared to this monitor do you think this is a better bang for your buck or is it relatively the same? I’ve personally never heard of AOC and don’t want to stare at a crummy monitor to save $15.
For $5 more if you want red backlighting you can get the Red dragon keyboard with the same switches. That one is pretty solid too but the Aukey is still not a bad buy at $25 if you don't wanna get into the $50 range for keyboards

How smelly is this? I bought a PECHAM pad but had to return it because it made my house smell like a tire factory.
For anyone not liking the provided cable, I got This replacement cable, and it has been great.
If you have prime this might be a better choice. Although Dell doesn't do the full three year warranty if it comes from amazon. You should also see what kind of warranty is available for this acer (it is refurbished so their might not really be any).
Or the 860 EVO M.2 SATA for 127.99 off Amazon currently. Gamers don’t need NVMe performance - so if you’re not using your machine as a workstation this is a much better deal. Of course everyone has their preferences and I’m not judging.
Samsung 860 EVO 1TB M.2 SATA Internal SSD (MZ-N6E1T0BW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07822Z77M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_28z8Bb5PHN0ZZ
this would be pretty overkill for a 1060 3gb you can buy a 2600 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B41WS48/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER here for $126 should hold you off until you get a better gpu but if you want to "future-proof" a little you can buy this instead
You can get it on amazon for 105 so id go that since shipping is probably faster, returns easier and 1 buck cheaper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RCM6DXK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5Ns8Cb94V70XW
It's $10 cheaper on Newegg than the Amazon listing so you still save money.
These coupons are literally not worth it UNLESS you can't be asked to wait for online shipping or you are purchasing way above the coupon minimum.
Lets take a look at their Ryzen Line.
https://www.frys.com/product/9522092?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG 200$ for the 2600. With the promo coupon 160$
However online
https://smile.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07B41WS48?_encoding=UTF8&%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0&ie=UTF8&pldnNewCustomer=1&ref_=smi_ge_cnf_cnf_smi
The same cpu is 164$.
But here in lies the issue. Now the cpu is 160$ NOT 199. Therefore you have to buy something else in order to get the coupon.
Lets take a different item.
https://www.frys.com/product/9339760?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG the i7-8700k is 370$. With the Promo its 296$. Which is amazing! Only problem its out of stock pretty much everywhere
https://smile.amazon.com/Intel-i7-8700K-Desktop-Processor-Unlocked/dp/B07598VZR8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1550638139&sr=8-4&keywords=i7+9700k
online its $360. So you are getting a massive discount, provided you are well above the minimum purchase for the most part.
TLDR: Coupon is only really vauable for items with a high coupon margin or if you cant be asked for shipping on low coupon margin
Oof, I wish I had linked it yesterday, Amazon had this for 127, I couldn't pass it up.
It says it's machine washable. I have 2 XXXL Pecham mats (~$8 when on sale), they do fine on normal cycle/warm water. That will get the chemical smell out pronto, but it will take all day drying in the sun or indoors with a fan blowing to dry it.

These things are a godsend, not quite sure about the headband though
Wasn’t sarcasm, sorry. I just woke up when writing that so it came across weird.
It does identify as the “U“ version instead of “UP“? Interesting… I have to find my receipt then and see which I have.
EDIT: https://www.newegg.com/black-acer-vg271u-pbmiipx-um-hv1aa-p01-27/p/N82E16824011278?Item=N82E16824011278 I've definitely got the U, found my Newegg purchase history and this was the one I bought.
EDIT2: For what it's worth this is my 4k monitor (which I was able to turn 10 bit depth on in the nvidia control panel) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YD3DBOC/
Picture showing 10-bit is turned on
Picture from within the nvidia control panel
It might not actually work, and only display at 8bit or something, but... yeah.

Looks like Amazon just matched Walmart's price for those who prefer to order there: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B41WS48
Inland is pretty close in performance and this is $25 more for 1TB on amazon
The Inland Premium 1TB is only $10 more and is better than this one, I'd pony up the extra cash for that if you can.

Found the 2700x at a really good price https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Wraith-Cooler/dp/B07B428M7F&ved=2ahUKEwjn9dqbsLbjAhVQCM0KHZp6CV0QFjABegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw3njZuyzCX9wLaRk7SYlU04
Nope, I used Kwik-weld or something like that to attach a VESA plate. You can also use one of these adapters, although not as pretty since it would hang down below the monitor a bit.
If anyone really wants the breakdown of how I mounted mine, please send me a PM. I've spammed my instructions too many times for posts for this monitor.
For all my UK friends, here it is for £125.

im rocking this one https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2 and it is very nice.

I'd say the ASUS VZ249H or the Acer R240HY would both be a solid choice and well in a budgeted price range.
New to this so sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but I just don't get what makes the price of this monitor (before the sale) so much higher than something like this monitor. Any idea?
I took a chance with a Redragon k552 from amazon for $40 shipped. It's a tenkeyless mech with blue outemu switches and feels pretty solid so far(only had it for a few days so who knows if it'll have switches fail later)

Not that good of a deal unless you really want a non-overclockable i5 for some reason.
Case: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16811356008 $39.99
Ryzen 2600: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B41WS48 $117.68
ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0: https://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-B45MHR4&c=CJ&cjevent=e8c79fa208cc11ea82d2016d0a1c0e0c $64.99
Total: $222.66 and you have better upgrade options.
I also have a couple Pecham pads, work great, no physical flaws after years of use and washing. Only gripe I have is the same as /u/aCoolUserNameDur in that it just looks dingy.
The Pecham is $8.35 at the time of writing this comment.

i have 2 of these. one for me one for the GF. they are great. Also the PECHAM logo is not nearly as big as it looks in the listing picture. ive had mine for a month she has had hers for about a week. no issues yet.
Whats the difference between the ones that you have and these https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482100028&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+598
Im pretty new the high end headsets, sorry.
Same price on Amazon with infinitely better CS/Shipping
This one is better

I just bought this on Amazon Prime Day:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MAK38U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How does that compare to the Enthusiast here?
What's the audiophile consensus on these? Do you need a subwoofer? How would they fair paired with the Fiio E10K Olympus 2?
Noob here, are these two compatible out of the box?
ASUS Prime X470-Pro
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Haven't built a PC in like 6 years so I can't remember what site someone linked me before that let you check compatibility.
I have a GTX 1070 and some DDR4 Ram I can transfer over from my current PC, just need a new mobo and cpu.
I’d argue that the inland premium is the best value.
This one is goin for just $9.99 on amazon. I have it and it looks as addvertised and has held off well for a couple of years so far.
https://www.amazon.com/PECHAM-Extended-Non-Slip-Waterproof-XX-Large/dp/B014CP231W/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1500935032&sr=1-1&keywords=pecham+mouse+pad
This one, I bought the 2 today for work. The one I have now is on my gaming computer. I figure, once I'm ready to step up to the triple monitor setup at least I'll now have 3 of the same!
So something like the FiiO E10k would work?
If you game I would highly recommend these two things to add to the MSR7s.

Do you guys think this is a better deal or the Redragon K552? I am looking to buy a keyboard for my nephew whom just turned 12 and is getting into computer gaming.

EDIT: If you have a different suggestion, then I am open for it as well!
I just checked what massdrop has to offer. I'm definitely going to wait a while. Maybe Black Friday will have something. If not, and especially if I'm lacking on research, I'll probably settle on this: https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465787295&sr=8-1&keywords=dac+amp#customerReviews
Obligatory, yes you can VESA mount this monitor. Bottom is more burnt orange.
Same exact price on Amazon, would definitely rather buy it there even if it has taxes.
Look under used and new, find special offers. Shows both the game and game pass for me.

Just a heads up, you'll want to purchase one of [these] (https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Audio-upgrade-Sennheiser-Headphones/dp/B00KAKBHKM) to go along with it. The wire that comes with it is 10 feet long and the 3.5mm adapter is huge and clunky.
It has been at $200 for all of November until now. It has only been for sale since beginning of October so there's not a lot of history. You can use website camelcamelcamel.com to check price history of amazon products. Here's the link for this product.
http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/product/B01JP436TS
I assume it's a similar product to other 598 models like these:
http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Over-Ear-Headphones/product/B0042A8CW2
http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Over-Ear-Headphones/product/B0126HISOO
But that may be a bad assumption on my part. Hope I helped.
If you have the Citi BanK's Double Cash credit card, does price rewind work on this with the Amazon's listing price?
If you wanted to mount your monitor on something like this, it needs a vesa mount.
