you'd better use something like this raceway to hidden it.

I hope they gave you at least a toner/tracer?

I'm used to seeing the standard toners: such as:
[greenlee tracer] (https://www.amazon.com/Greenlee-AT8LK-LAN-Toner-Kit/dp/B002UD5PJG) I've used this one, and it works well. The exposed strands on the tracer are also helpful if you want to trace out individual strands, or try and connect a butt-set to a pair.

I was curious and also saw this fluke tester, which looks like it might be a lot more helpful (as it measures distance to the fault). I've not tried it, but that might be helpful. warning: This could be crazy expensive.

Not sure if you wanted advice, or just wanted to vent, but I figured I'd offer a suggestion for next time.

Just stick the device to the back of the TV and then use some twist ties to manage the extra cable.

From the picture I was a little confused. If it's a DC power plug (from the bottom left of the picture), you could use this to cut it down and re-terminate with this screw down terminal adapter. Just the gender that you need.
