You might benefit from using one of these.

The right side of the bezel looks like it is cutting off part of the screen (vis: barrels).
That said, it looks great! Love the metal accents. T-molding & Paint will really make it look great.

Consider making something to fill in the gap on the top. As others have mentioned, a marquee might/speakers (speaking of, where is sound coming from, now?) would be a good choice.

I bought a real Pandora’s box 6. You can add ROMs to it. I found a set called Community Edition. It added like 1300 new ones along with video previews.
I’m happy with my device.
I bought the 8 button edition. I’d recommend getting the 6 button version u less you want to use it as a joystick.
Here is a link to what I bought from Amazon:
Wisamic Real Pandora's Box 6 Arcade Game Console - Add Additional Games, Support 3D Games, with Full HD, Games Classification, Upgraded CPU, Support PS3 PC TV 2 Players, No Games Included (8 Buttons) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H96KPPH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lyYzDbA10M1B0

  1. I used cabinet grade birch. No warping as of yet (It was in a garage during build then moved into finished, carpeted basement). Standard Kilz white primer and black latex paint. Went on nicely. 2 coats of primer. Waited overnight. Next day did one coat black. Let it dry, that evening did second coat. That was all it needed.

  2. Speakers here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00022OBO2/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On paper I thought the marquee light would make the blue of the speaker stand out a bit more, you can still kind of see the blue but it's more subtle. As for sound, comes out great. I am using this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049P6OTI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which has bass and treble controls to adjust for the type of game I'm playing. Vintage arcade games you want to up the treble. Something like Skyrim or GTA, anything modern... you want it balanced...
  3. Hyperspin is taking the longest, I chip away at it bit by bit... I'm a bit OCD so I have a workflow spreadsheet I built as I hammer it out: http://i.imgur.com/cFd6juK.jpg I have a secondary drive I keep a backup on. Once I have everything configured and golden, I'll clone the drive and put the clone away in a safe or Fort Knox or something since I will have dumped an embarrassing amount of my life into it haha...
  4. For the player buttons, I got 18 goldleaf from Happ, all the other buttons, pause, 25cents etc are classic Happs. UTrak flushmount trackball, I'll have to look up the rest and post later.

From my experience, accurate price guides are hard to come by due to the many issues that an arcade can have.

The best price guide I have found on the internet is this...
http://www.arcade-classics.com/exidy_arcade_price_guide.html

Unfortunately, that list does not have Lethal Enforcers... If you want a book that you can go off of, the best one I have heard of is...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0375720383/qid=1095771480/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-9092071-7079222?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Hope this is helpful.

Hmmm...I think I might go with Pandora; the games are all easily loaded on, it comes in a single package, and the emulation seems decent. Yeah, it might be a little lazy, especially since I already have a couple ROMS on my computer, but it's convenient. :D Plus, I found this on Amazon, which I've verified IS a legit 3-A device, and I can get it without the ridiculous shipping. XD

You could get one of those smart strip surge protector when you turn on the computer that is plugged in to the first spot it turns on the rest of the plugs though I've never used one that's what a lot of people recommend for a mame cab

Smart Strip SCG5 Energy Saving Power Strip with Autoswitching Technology and Coaxial Surge Protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L9FQUO/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_mywwub03WW22X

Suzo branded sticks, free shipping.

I've actually purchased quite a lot through Ali-Express and haven't really had much bad luck yet. The 2 sanwas I ordered were name brand. And as they had free shipping as well, it was about $10 cheaper for a pair than amazon. I was willing to wait.

Forstner bit as mentioned, and one of these is key for making the hole level, straight, and better than by hand:

i used this amp: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010FAQQNY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and the cheapest pair of 4" car speakers that amazon had:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000230LBI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

generic one-way speakers would have also been fine for these classic games, but i actually couldn't even find them as cheap as this pair. this is way overkill compared to the audio setups that were in these classic games, and i was actually impressed with the quality of the sound from the amp in general

i didn't bother making the volume external, i just open the back of the cabinet to adjust if needed

OK so you need:

  1. JAMMA harness (https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Cabinet-Wiring-Harness-Multigame/dp/B019OIY3CE)
  2. 2x Player 3 and 4 harness (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Konami-3-4-Player-Auxiliary-Kick-Harness-Arcade-Turtles-Simpsons-Xmen/292802670868)
  3. Switching Power Supply (https://www.amazon.com/WINIT-Switching-Cabinets-Upright-Cocktail/dp/B01C5E8W3K)
  4. Video converter (https://www.amazon.com/Paddsun-Converter-Output-Monitor-GBS-8200/dp/B01IBJCAIG)
  5. Joysticks (4), buttons (8) and buttons to trigger coin-ups unless you do the free-play ROM hack (TMNT doesn't have free play built in).

Audio is going to be up to you based on what you're trying to hook up monitor wise.

I have buttons very similar to this. Mine only came with the red and black wires. I had to order these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075VYG9GT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this power supply https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0745BZV6T/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and hook them up to my buttons. Worked out good though. here is a pic: https://imgur.com/H2s5KFe

It does but theres a way to avoid that with these https://www.amazon.com/Dolphin-DC-100P-Super-Connector-Pcs/dp/B000JP7FIQ

you put the wires into there and then clamp down. itll be set forever.

for the controller ports you can use these https://www.amazon.com/Swellder-Connector-15-pin-Terminal-Breakout/dp/B01270C0ZI/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1466612452&sr=1-3&keywords=db15+breakout

you screw in the wires to whgere they go. this way you wont need to solder anything at all. it makes the bench a little bigger but you could also more easily reconfigure the controller as well.

My NeoGeo is hooked up to a 12V arcade power supply similar to this.

But if you're looking for parts, and you can't find them on eBay or AliExpress, you should contact Player One Amusement Group.

Nintendo joystick shafts go through a captured ball in the base which probably needs a thorough cleaning.
I would start by completely disassembling it and cleaning the entire base, especially the area around the ball. I use Brakleen to de-gunk them. Then after it dries, I use a silicone lubricant on all the metal mating surfaces.

u/codepony · 2 pointsr/cade

Should be this, but double check the pin layout on the bottom of the board before ordering. I'm not home to check my boards to verify. It's Amazon Prime, so should arrive in two days at most.

Please forgive the noob question, but would a Sony Trinitron work as an Arcade monitor? I keep coming back to /r/MAME and /r/cade subs thinking about a future machine and I have a 32" Sony that I'm saving for a rainy day project...

u/Xerokine · 2 pointsr/cade

if it's just a standard PC PSU just use a small L bracket. Put in a larger screw to hold the bracket to the board and a standard PSU screw through the other side to hold the PSU in place.

Something kinda like this only it doesn't have to be a double hole.: https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Hardware-75-6111-Corner-Braces/dp/B00004Z0R1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504218784&sr=8-1&keywords=small+L-bracket

u/LonesomeWonderer · 2 pointsr/cade

This seems to be the USB interface you're looking for:

http://www.ultimarc.com/rotary.html

It is designed for use with this, I believe:

I use this 15w+15w amp and it gets plenty loud with 4" car speakers.

I remote mounted the volume nob with a long through panel one for simple volume control that looks stock.

Age doesn't matter, but a newer battery will last longer. They're only about $7 at the hardware store or online. Doesn't have to be that brand either, any 3.6V / 700mAh rechargable battery will work.
