no specific font per se but I try to seek out as much calligraphy, blackletter, and graffiti as possible for inspiration on letter forms. This sub is a great resource, however my city (top 4 in the US) has plenty of graffiti littered throughout, and I often find myself seeing great inspiration on a walk to the corner store.
Additionally, there are great books out there which can help widen your knowledge of letterforms. There is a book about Mexican Black Letter which documents the various styles of black letter found in Mexico and I found this book to be one of my favorites from 2014 (when I found it at a local store). Here is a link in case you are interested: https://www.amazon.com/Mexican-Blackletter-Cristina-Paoli/dp/0977282783
If you have bleed problems, I would look for better paper before ink. I think the most non-bleed paper for the least amount of money that I've been able to find is this sketchbook. I'm on my second one. I filled every front and back page on the first. I have a decent variety of inks (my higgins red bleeds really bad) and almost all of them write sharp on this paper. If you go over a line or have a super heavy flow with whatever you're using, you're going to soak the page or get a bleed (unless you use tissue to blot it first) but I imagine that will always happen unless you have expensive water color paper.
As for inks, I love my Noodlers Golden Brown. I bought some Walnut Crystals just to see what they were like too and it's a really nice, rich brown you control the pigment of which is sweet. And what amount of crystals will make SOOOO much ink. Unless I get sick of that color (which I will) I probably don't need to buy ink for like a year. I've got pretty much every color Pilot Cartridge and extras for my pilots. I have an extra 6mm pen I just fill with noodlers or walnut or india ink to cut down on cartridge use when I'm practicing and I go to the clean pilot for colors. Also, a friend gave me a bunch of Higgins dropper bottles. They make a lot of colors, she found them in a stationary store. They're what I use when I do the ink bleeds.
Everything that /u/EMAGDNlM and /u/Wormy_____McSquirmey said is spot on and the best way to learn. Also, its interesting to see how graffiti writers have taken those exact same learning steps and created their own styles. I'd recommendFlip the Script checking out the book and the Youtube series that inspired it.
Also, the Instagram account Handstyler features some really interesting stuff.
I don't want to say that you cut it wrong because, who am I to say? But, in my experiences, cutting the tip just on a 45 degree angle yields some awesome results. You can definitely get thinner lines this way, and it really works well for calligraffiti style. Also, I highly recommend the Montana 30mm marker which you don't have to cut to get great lines.
i am reposting these links i provided in this thread.
Check out these free Google E-books Alphabets and other materials for letterers, Ames alphabets,Alphabets. They all have a few examples of Fraktur. I also recommend Fraktur Mon Amour. And never stop practicing.

I will always recommend Rhodia products. I use their dot pads religiously. They're well made, with quality paper and for a fair price.
