If you want a solid system with mobile viewing, I would recommend Dahua. They sell 8 channel NVRs, all with remote viewing capabilities. Maintaining a system with both analog and IP systems requires a hybrid DVR, something which Hikvision manufactures. There should be smartphone support.

Now, if you want to go a bit more expensive, Speco technologies manufactures an 8 channel hybrid DVR, which I would highly recommend you check out.

That is something I considered, which was a big factor in deciding on a slightly different approach. I'm going with these for the CAT-5E end points (one with BNC pig-tail and the other with female BNC connectors), and power will be run from an outlet at the remote end instead with the normal four-way splitter (that looks like this) that can with these cameras, via short BNC-and-power cables to the cameras from there, all nicely mounted inside.

This way I don't have to worry about power coming up the line from the house (from where the DVR is) but instead using a plug closer to the cameras.)

Would you say this is a much better scenario?

  • For many cameras you can login and turn off the IR illuminator.

  • If there is not enough ambient light with the camera IR off, you may need to add an external IR illuminator, but obviously this may not be possible to mount this outdoors for an apartment or something like that.

  • So then the solution is to add an IR illuminator, through a different window.

I'm not a huge expert, but this is the one I'd buy.

FOSCAM FI9900P 1080P HD Wireless IP Camera - ( > IP Cameras) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011US2ADK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_izcBxbQJ5Q9F3

I can't specifically see if it has mic/speaker, but the cable connections look hopeful.

I use a CIB DVR at home (actually 2 of them). One for the front yard and one for the back. They are the 4 channel models, but this should have the same software. I know their mobile app will support up to 16 channels, so this DVR should work.

Please refer to my reply to the last comment below for sake of not being redundant. Although I agree that audio probably won't do much as evidence, but it's more because my parents want to hear people at the door and what they're saying or want, as they say what we might not want us to hear, that's just what my parents want since they're extra cautious. Because of that, I may not even record the audio since I can bypass the DVR completely because the mic I'm planning on, a Q-SEE powered microphone, is a standalone powered mic and I can just use an RCA to 3.5mm cable to plug in earphones or speakers.

It looks like I'll need a video audio power BNC cable, the BNC providing the video? I can't find any DVRs with those connectors on the back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-100ft-Audio-Video-Power-Cable-CCD-Security-Camera-BNC-RCA-CCTV-DVR-Wire-Cord/273915522002 would be the right cable if I wasn't wanting to connect a few of these to a DVR and have them all recording on a separate channel.

Hm. It looks like BNC might not do it for me. Is there a way to get a PoE NVR system connected to the RCA power video audio lines over about 50-70ft? Most of my camera experience is strictly using NVR systems, but analog CCTV stuff I'm coming up blank. I really don't want to use a mic that is separate from the camera.

You would need a hdmi combiner or multiviewer.

Using what I linked as a base I am sure you could find exactly what you are looking for.

Ideal makes one if you are concerned about some of the sellers/manufacturers of the other products. Obviously it's quite a bit more expensive but just figured I'd mention in case.

I did an install for a fast food place last year with 16 cameras. I went with this zmodo for cost and bought a hard drive for it.

For budget cameras I would probably use [these little guys.] (http://www.123-cctv.com/indoor-camera/dome-camera.html)

A little pricier and better camera would be this guy for low light situations.

CCTV can get as cheap or costly as you want to make it.

This might suit your needs

u/kolboldbard · 1 pointr/cctv

You'll need a 100 ft BNC Cable, and BNC to RCA adapter, and possibly a power adaptor, depending on your supply
