I would suggest the [Acer R11 for $269USD](https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chromebook-Convertible-11-6-Inch-CB5-132T-C1LK/dp/B01J42JPJG/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483770071&sr=1-2&keywords=acer+r+13 "Amazon Link to purchase") if you're really on a tight budget, but you're going down to 11.6", which may in the end be better for portability if you're still lugging back and forth from classes. It also has Android Apps in the stable channel which is a bonus. Just make sure if you get the R11 that you get the 4Gb Ram model or else Android won't run well on it anyway. My previous chromebook was the Acer C720P, which has the same screen size, and it was nice and light to carry around from work, home, and travelling, and was the laptop that I've used for most of my Master's degree and works well for typing long papers. The [Asus Chromebook Flip (1) at $259USD](https://www.amazon.com/C100PA-DB02-10-1-inch-Chromebook-1-8GHz-Operation/dp/B00ZS4HK0Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483771163&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+Chromebook+flip "Amazon Link to purchase") is nice, but in my opinion the keyboard is too cramped to be used as a computer to write anything longer than a facebook or reddit post, which I imagine why your original post requested info on 13"-ers, and 16Gb storage is too small for the future anyway.

I currently have the [Acer R13 at $399USD](https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chromebook-Convertible-13-3-inch-CB5-312T-K5X4/dp/B01LXYG77O/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483771046&sr=1-1&keywords=acer+r+13 "Amazon Link to purchase") and it's great. I honestly can say it's overall the best computer I've ever owned and in my opinion the best value for a computer that money can buy. That being said, $400 is a lot of money for a student, but if you can afford it, it's definitley the one I'd recommend for you. The new ones that are coming out of CES, specifically the [Asus Chromebook C302 at $499USD](https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-C302CA-DHM4-Traditional-Laptop-Silver/dp/B01N5G5PG2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483771756&sr=1-1&keywords=Asus+Chromebook+C302 "Amazon Link to Pre-Order") and the [Samsung Chromebook Plus at $449USD](https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-XE513C24-K01US-Chromebook-Touch-Screen/dp/B01LZ6XKS6/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483771819&sr=1-2&keywords=samsung+chromebook+plus "Amazon Link to Pre-Order"), that will have touch and support android apps may run better but all cost more, will be harder or impossible to get now, and are arguably not a better value for the dollar. Back lit keyboards are nice but aren't a necessity for you I imagine!

Good luck on making a decision and let us know what you ultimately decide!

My opinion, I'm not the biggest Toshiba fan. I don't think they are quite reliable in their products. Saying that, I have heard people liking their Chromebook 2. It doesn't have too much different hardware difference than other models, so you are paying more for 1080p and a memory boost (4gb). Saying that, I think if you're looking to pay for you want, go for it. I picked up my CB3 because it was perfect for me. I would say the same for you.

If you're going into that direction, might want to take a look at this Acer model (I swear, I'm not a spokesperson for Acer) Acer Acer 13 CB5-311-T9B0 Chromebook (13.3-inch Full HD, NVIDIA Tegra K1, 2GB. It's not Intel based, but the Nivia processor gives the CB a HD boost and might actually run better than the BayTrail Intel. I'm not sure if you can install certain Linux apps on it (versus Intel) if you are looking to install Linux on it, like Ubuntu, so I would definitely research before making a final decision. And it's slightly cheaper.

If not, go with the Chromebook 2. It's definitely a worthy investment.

The biggest issue I see with that plan is the docking needs to be something she's comfortable with. Have a good place for her to put it and have it automatically switch so that she can just plug one USB-C cable and close the chromebook and put it away so there's not so much going on in her workspace.

I know you mentioned she is older, does she need backlit keys/larger screen? Or does she prefer having a more mobile laptop when taking it around? This website is a good place to get comparisons by price/size/etc.

For actual hardware I'd probably recommend:

Acer Chromebook 15 - Something large, relatively budget friendly, but mid-range performance. You definitely would get more options going for smaller sizes, and probably without touch-screen.

Something like this dock - This one doesn't have a ton of reviews but it has all the display ports you might want, especially as I'd keep the current monitor unless she needs an upgrade. There are more budget friendly options, but I would probably mount the previous one in a spot where there'd be less chance of it moving/accidentally getting pulled out.

A Lenovo Thinkpad 13 would fit those requirements pretty well, I know the Celeron version goes for very cheap all over the place, but you might be able to score the i3 version for around $300 if you look hard enough.
This is my personal device, and it runs crouton very well, though I've never tried chrx...

I bought this for my son's C302, installed it immediately, and it looks/feels great. The peace of mind is worth the $ for me.

(I have the same type for my Chromebook Pro, and love the fact that I don't have to worry about scratching it.)

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EE-PW700BWEGUJ-Multiport-Adapter/dp/B01DN09RYI/

It's on the pricey side, but I'm actually using this Samsung adapter for my Asus C302. Great for USB A and for HDMI. Both work like a charm.

u/kick4h4 · 1 pointr/chromeos

This is what I got for my toshiba:
https://www.amazon.com/ChromeBook-CB35-Bxxxx-CB35-Cxxxx-compatible-CB35-Axxxx/dp/B00R9NKIB2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498660364&sr=8-1&keywords=toshiba+chromebook+2+shell

Once the cb+, or other 2-in-1, was opened all the way, a shell like the 'top' cover could just clip over the face of the keyboard. My toshiba shell pops on and off as I need it.

A sleeve is an interesting idea, though the 'back' of the sleeve would have to be very thin to fit between the 'bottom' of the chromebook and the 'back' of the screen section without either messing with magnet latches or causing it not to be recognized as fully open. Thanks for the concept. :)

u/Gunderstorm · 1 pointr/chromeos

I just got this nailed down myself. At first, I followed Wirecutter's recommendation and bought the Satechi Multiport Adapter. It's a beautiful dongle, and it worked great for display, but my USB keyboard and wireless mouse plugged into the USB A ports would not work.

Yesterday I received the Samsung adapter that is made for TabPro S, which was recommended by Chrome Unboxed. Works perfectly, but only has one USB A. I'm waiting on a keyboard I ordered so both that and my mouse will connect to one Logitech Unifying Receiver.

u/CAPTAIN_AMER1CA · 1 pointr/chromeos

I really love the iPearl hard shell case for the Toshiba Chromebook 2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R9NKIB2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have the Case Logic neoprene sleeve. It is just OK. Fits good left to right but has a couple extra inches in the vertical direction so the fit is sloppy. It does have a nice pocket for the AC adapter. There has to be a better fitting sleeve out there for the Toshiba Chromebook 2.

u/kariudo · 1 pointr/chromeos

I use this Amazon Basics one. It was 12.49 and its fantastic. Perfect fit and I highly recommend it, especially for the price.

Honestly, the 2013 Chromebook Pixel is the best bang-for-your-buck in that price range (and, I'd argue in any range). It lacks Android apps; however, it is a stunning piece of machinery. I use it as my daily driver, and it's perfect for all my needs (word processing, spreadsheets, browsing). Get one!

u/kob66 · 1 pointr/chromeos

I bought the CB2, first edition. The IPS screen is very bright and I like working on it. The unit is well-reviewed and has ended up on most top 10 lists. But as others note, the build materials could be better. If you plan to slam this around and semi-crush in a bookbag, dunno ..

I bought this cover fo $20 to give it a little added strength: https://www.amazon.com/ChromeBook-CB35-Bxxxx-CB35-Cxxxx-compatible-CB35-Axxxx/dp/B00R9NKIB2

And regarding android. Personally, I think it's going to take a couple of years for that to really shake out and become useful.

u/Antilope999 · 3 pointsr/chromeos

I use this USB wired one on my Dell 3010 Chromebox. Works great. Contols screen brightness, volume, and other specialized Chrome OS functions. $19.95

Here's the US Amazon link for Anker PowerPort+ 5.

It's great if you want to charge multiple USB devices at once. I think it's pretty clunky if all you want it for is charging a single device, but it fills the niche of providing a fairly high-power USB-C port at a lower price than other readily available laptop chargers like Apple's and Google's.

The USB PD market isn't really mature enough for there to be a lot of good alternatives for that need yet. A lot of chargers are flawed and poorly designed, a lot of them don't have widespread availability around the world, a lot of them aren't even sold standalone but instead are only bundled with a device.

I use my Chromebook Pixel 2 charger for all my USB-C stuff, but it costs more
at US$60 and it only charges one device at a time. I like the long cable and it works great with my Nexus 5X, XPS 13, and Nintendo Switch.

u/LaughingMan11 · 2 pointsr/chromeos

DO NOT get the one you linked to. It's only got Type-A ports, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge, which Chromebooks, because they follow the Type-C spec closely, will never support.

If you use that charger with your Chromebook, you'll likely only charge at 1.5A at 5V, or 7.5W, which is almost assuredly not enough to keep the battery charging while you are using the thing.

Buy USB Type-C and PD compliant chargers.

This one is pretty good, and charges the Asus at the same 45W like its included charger, plus gives you 4 other Type-A ports to charge your other things :

I have one of the nice Wacom styluses from Amazon.com, can't remember the model. It's the one that looks like a real pen with a cap and pocket clip, Love it. It makes the CB so much more comfortable to use. It wasn't cheap, but worth every penny.

It was like this:

ASUS C201 https://www.amazon.ca/Chromebook-11-6-Inch-Rockchip-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B00VUV0MG0/

Budget

Under ~$350 CAD

Performance & Use Case

Google spreadsheets, web browsing, youtube, netflix

Android Apps

I don't think I need anything right away off of Google Play Store

Type & Functionality

No need for tablet functionality. Decent display would be nice. No need for touchscreen. Would like something I can carry between rooms and type on my lap. Definitely not a desktop.

Build Quality

While I would like something that looks nice, I will take function and lower prices over looks.

I'd suggest this one, if you can buy during the current sale:

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Chromebook-Clamshell-Processor-C425TA-DH384/dp/B07VT254P6/

Amazon also has some promotion with AMEX, so if you have an american express card to pay with you can save an additional $20 or more.

This chromebook specifically fits for your needs because it lacks a touchscreen, which some consider a drawback as it limits android gaming possibilities, but you don't want to be distracted by games so there you go. It also has a highly rated keyboard, probably the best in it's price range, and 8GB of RAM and a 2026 OS support end date.

Edit: if you have an AMEX card, this page explains the promotion: https://thepointsguy.com/news/amazon-amex-membership-rewards-discount/ (I got the $20 off $100 or more offer)

Even though I don't really need another device, I'm thinking about getting this as a spare device.

u/binaryhermit · 6 pointsr/chromeos

Sounds reasonable as long as you understand that you're going to be using some sort of online office suite like Google Docs or Office 365.

And if I were you I'd get a Chromebook with 4 GB of RAM.

EDIT: Looking at Amazon, they have the Asus C201 with 4 GB of RAM for $189.99 link . If you can live with the ARM processor's limitations when it comes to Linux, that's a pretty good deal, in my opinion.

u/ForgottenArm · 1 pointr/chromeos

I just ordered an Acer C720 as well. This is the case I ordered with it. It has good reviews and an extra pouch for your charging cable. Seems like it will fit in a book bag if need be and it has its own handles for just carrying the chromebook by itself.

u/VictoryGoth · 1 pointr/chromeos

The Samsung Chromebook 3 is a good inexpensive and/or beginner's Chromebook. The Samsung Chromebook 3 weighs 2.5 lbs, so you could do lighter. The display quality also isn't very good. I've seen it in person and the matte finish is so strong that the display looks very grainy. So I would recommend these:

u/synack · 1 pointr/chromeos

The Asus C101PA has been good to me for the last year. It's the lightest Chromebook on the market with a usable keyboard (unless you count the Slate, which is heavier with the keyboard cover attached). I don't know about the S330's screen, but the C101PA's screen is plenty bright and the resolution is good enough for reddit and youtube. It's not super high DPI, but gets the job done.

Asus C101 or variant. I had this until I lost it, awesome hardware and support for Android apps, which is v important https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-C101PA-DB02-Quad-Core-Lightweight-Touchscreen/dp/B075KFFMZS

u/Grim-Sleeper · 1 pointr/chromeos

I am a big fan of this Anker's USB-C power supply. Works fine for all my legacy devices and also for my cell phone and Pixelbook.

And the best part is, while it comes with a power cord, you can install an adapter to turn it into a wall charger. I haven't tried yet, but I imagine this also works with European plugs.

I installed an extra long 10ft USB charging cable. That's the beauty of having a device that you can plug arbitrary cables into, rather than being limited by the power supply that came with your device.

I suspect any Wacom digitizer compatible pen should work. This is the digitizer technology that Samsung has been using on its Note phones and tablets. I would look into something like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Stylus-Galaxy-Black/dp/B00IWJM9SW

Wacom digitizers work in such a way that allow the pen itself to be a "passive" device (i.e. it doesn't have any electrical components). By comparison, the Surface tablets and the iPad Pro use proprietary "active" pen technology, requiring the pen to pair with the device and and emit a specific electrical signal to register strokes. For this reason, Surface Pen and Apple Pencil will not work with a Wacom device.

Good luck! Let us know what you end up with.

u/efiggy · 1 pointr/chromeos

I have a CB3-111 and purchased an AmazonBasics case for around $12. The Chromebook fits snuggly in the case and I have my mouse and charger in there as needed. I'm pretty happy with it!

u/Tavanatrix · 1 pointr/chromeos

The OEM charger is 45watts. It will charge on anything less than that but just not as quickly. Right now its charging on 10watts (cell charger).

I was looking into this charger but its pretty pricey and I would have to get a USB C to USB C cable as well.

u/abattleofone · 1 pointr/chromeos

I'm sorry to hear. I got this one, and once in awhile WiFi will hiccup due to the USB 3.0 ports, but that is just the nature of USB 3.0. It looks like this is an updated version though from what I bought:
https://smile.amazon.com/AUKEY-Delivery-Charging-Chromebook-Pixelbook/dp/B072Q1SKZR/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509845942&sr=1-3&keywords=aukey+usb+c+hub

I also lucked out and got it for $25.

u/HayesCooper19 · 1 pointr/chromeos

The Samsung Chromebook plus is nice, but it only has a microSD card slot and 2 USB-C ports so I don't think it would be a good fit for you. However, if you're interested in a well-made, convertible touchscreen Chromebook and can make do with microSD card slot, you can find manufacturer refurb Acer R13 Chromebooks for only $258 on Acer's website. All-aluminum design, 1080p touchscreen, USB 3.0, access to Android apps (in Beta Channel) and INSANE battery life.

You can also find even cheaper units that would offer a full SD slot and USB 3.0, but they wouldn't offer all the bells and whistles of the R13.

u/denniskempin · 3 pointsr/chromeos

Those two will work (and are more comfortable to use than the small default stylus):

Wacom Bamboo Stylus for Galaxy Note: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IWJM9SW

Samsung S-Pencil: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072N31S7C

Any S-Pen replacement for a Galaxy Note will work as well: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=s-pen+replacement

They might have a slightly different size however, so I don't know how well they will fit in the case.

I've used this hub with a lot of success with multiple laptops including a C302 and my current laptop a MacBook 12in. The USB C port on the hub also supports charging up to 28watts, I believe. It would charge my C302 and MacBook 12in while being used at least.

Got this from Amazon. I love it because it also fits the battery charger and has additional space for a mouse, cables, etc. Plus the price can't be beat!

My response from another thread we had a while ago, those two are still the only ones I found to work:

I have recently ordered a bunch off Amazon and tested them. I found these two to work well:

Wacom Bamboo Stylus for Galaxy Note: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IWJM9SW

Samsung S-Pencil: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072N31S7C

My personal favorite is the S-Pencil, both because it reminds me of my childhood, and also because of the smooth tip.

I'm using this amCase sleeve. It has a pouch on the front that holds the power brick and a mouse nicely. The handle is nice to have too.

HP offered 14" touchscreen 1080p in 2014. Pretty tepid market response, and I believe they were discontinued.

Looks like the Acer 15" currently comes with touchscreen in Full HD.

I would recommend the SSD. It is an easy install and it frees up your USB ports. FYI dont buy that old version of the MyDigitalSSD SSD, they tend to fail after a couple months (but the RMA process is easy). Here is the updated one

u/Buttern40s · 1 pointr/chromeos

I got this a month ago and couldn't be happier for the price. It has a higher benchmark score than most other chromebooks in the market. It's zippy, lasts about 8-10 hours and charges through USB-C. Build quality is good (lenovo thinkbook) and the keyboard is one of the better one's I've tried.

The screen and speakers aren't the greatest, but they're plenty good for under $200. It also doesn't have an HDMI slot.

u/annie_de · 6 pointsr/chromeos

I bought this one off of Amazon - "ASUS C201 11.6 Inch Chromebook (Rockchip, 4 GB, 16GB SSD, Navy Blue)" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VUV0MG0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Looking at my order history, I got it for $166 (guess in my mind it was a little more), thanks to a Amazon Warehouse deal. They ad said the box was scratched but the item inside was fine. I would have classified the damage as "scuffing" on the outside box and yes, the chromebook was in perfect condition. An absolute STEAL! They have a bunch listed on the website right now at http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00VUV0MG0/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used - just looked for the ones posted by Amazon Warehouse Deals.

I use the Anker version for my Chromebook Pro and it works great. My OEM charger also caps out at 30W.

u/PinkyThePig · 1 pointr/chromeos

The chromebook 2 everyone is recommending is only really recommended if you go for the expensive one (330ish?) as the cheaper version doesnt have an ips screen.

For your price range, I would recommend the acer chromebook 13.

Basically, there are four models.

768p 2GB RAM $237
768p 4GB RAM $270
1080p 2GB RAM $250
1080p 4GM RAM 32GB SSD $380

The loss in performance will not be that great. If you really want bang/buck, the 2955U is definitely the one to get. The i3 isn't that much more powerful for being almost double the price.

I'd second this. I have docking stations at home/work and I use Dell's wired Chromebook keyboard for both -- $20 $10 and free shipping from their website or ~$14 on Amazon.

And as you mentioned, there's slim pickings for ChromeOS specific external keyboards; IIRC Asus is the only one offering a bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo for ChromeOS.

i have the acer it flies. also was on sale down from $380 to $310 for first time the other day... check how good the reviews are unless u want to watch IPS videos on a chromebook 2- the i3 can take 50 tabs and chromecast at same time. faster than my 16gb ram fusion drive ssd 2013 core i7 mac mini that cost me 5x this i3 http://www.amazon.com/Acer-C720-Chromebook-11-6-Inch-4GB/dp/B00FNPD1OY

This is the one I have. I wasn’t aware there was more than one. I’m new to Chromebook. Would you mind linking me to the newest one or providing a model number?

Thanks a lot

u/DJ_SYRUP · 1 pointr/chromeos

I keep mine in an iPearl mCover, bought on Amazon here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R9NKIB2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Funny story, that probably belongs on /r/TIFU: I was sleeping in a cabin, and I had my sleeping bag on the top bunk of a bunk bed. My laptop, the Toshiba Chromebook 2 in question, was on top of my sleeping bag. Without thinking about it, I whipped my sleeping bag off of my bed.

My Chromebook went flying. Fortunately, it had the case on it. My laptop was left with a couple dings and some scratches, but the screen did not shatter and neither did the case. That case paid for itself 12 times over that day.

u/WankyWidgets · 2 pointsr/chromeos

Also, give passing consideration to the Asus Flip C101:

https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-C101PA-DB02-Quad-Core-Lightweight-Touchscreen/dp/B075KFFMZS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1539625121&sr=8-2&keywords=asus%2Bc101&th=1

10" screen so as big as the iPad. But you also get a decent keyboard and trackpad, and it functions as a tablet as well. Great for media consumption and mild productivity, such as emails and draft writing. Only drawback, its base model only has 16GB eMMC. It's barely enough. There is a 32GB model but that's a touch over your 300 budget.

u/clocks212 · 3 pointsr/chromeos

This is a good one. I just got it and have used at least 6 different chromebook’s as daily drivers over the past two years. It’s $379 but look out for Black Friday deals or buy a used one from Amazon Warehouse Deals

It's cheaper, has a 1080p screen instead of 720p, fan less and has a bigger battery.

u/Sib3rian · 2 pointsr/chromeos

You can get a brand new 2013 Pixel for less than $400 easy.

In fact, here's one for $345.

As far as I know, this Pixel won't get Play Store officially. But I don't know if it's possible to get it unofficially, and, besides, if you're going for Linux, I think it's not a deal-breaker.

Heck, if not for my need for a Chromebook with a proper stylus, I'd probably be getting this beautiful piece of hardware. As it is, however, I'm getting the new Samsung Chromebook.

u/jf04816 · 2 pointsr/chromeos

Get this usb-c dongle and connect it to your chromebook plus, it has a HDMI out port on it that works flawlessly ....i use it all the time to connect chromebook plus to television and for usb flash drives http://imgur.com/lUEGTSy ....no need for chromecast......https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EE-PW700BWEGUJ-Tabpro-Multi-Port-Adapter/dp/B01DN09RYI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495852750&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tabpro+s+adapter

Off the top of my head, I can only think of the Acer Chromebook R13 (Amazon) coming close. Though it's over the budget.

Edit: added link

The Anker Powerport+ 5 might have been perfect for you as it has USB-C/PD and regular USB-A, but strangely Amazon doesn't sell it anymore and the product page has been pulled down.

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B01D8C6ULO

Perhaps they will be releasing a replacement soon.

u/jmhalder · 1 pointr/chromeos

Depends on the size. This has served me well for 6ish months so far, the controller is supposed to be reliable. It's got "slow" writes, but more than fast enough reads. http://www.amazon.com/MyDigitalSSD-128GB-120GB-Super-Drive/dp/B00LNF1RVM

u/JWGhetto · 10 pointsr/chromeos

can your laptop charge a tablet alone? If yes I don't see why this shouldn't be possible. this should do the trick. Onnect the dongle to your tablet, and the passthrough power cable to your latop and the phone to any of the other ones. I don't think your phone would charge very quickly though

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00FNPD1OY/ref=dp_olp_refurbished?ie=UTF8&condition=refurbished

Occasionally Acer will offer the the 4GB version for $189 refurbished. If you know anybody in the US they can grab it for you & ship it to you. If not you can look into services like bongo. It's still not great but there are alternatives.

Asus C101, $250 new / $212 warehouse deals: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075KFFMZS

None of the current 11" models in that price range impress me much, whereas the only fault with the Asus is the 16GB internal storage

u/MadSquabbles · 2 pointsr/chromeos

Holy smokes, I was gonna give link to the one I bought and didn't realize they're calling all those different types of pens under the same bamboo model.

Mine is one that works with wacom tablets and all the samsungs that used wacom induction tech.
https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Stylus-Galaxy-Black/dp/B00IWJM9SW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1538068579&sr=1-1&keywords=wacom+bamboo+galaxy+note

is the one I have, I don't know what one would be the updated version.

This one should work: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EJ-PT820BBEGUJ-Galaxy-Stylus-Black/dp/B06WD1GVM3/ref=pd_sbs_147_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06WD1GVM3&pd_rd_r=0fb4abf9-c279-11e8-85d4-ef9f8da44be6&pd_rd_w=HqyoY&pd_rd_wg=pIINS&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=0bb14103-7f67-4c21-9b0b-31f42dc047e7&pf_rd_r=SW2DWY1SE1QGC44HPE7C&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=SW2DWY1SE1QGC44HPE7C

If you search for Galaxy Note stylus they'll work with the pro/plus also. I've tested it with my daughter's old gnote and the gnote 10.1 2014's spen and they both work.

u/nicksvr4 · 1 pointr/chromeos

Nope, but the MyDigitalSSD is cheaper for the same size.

Here it is $54.99

I would spring for the extra money for the 4gb/32gb, also on sale but not as big a discount.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NC088EA/ref=cm_sw_su_dp

u/raceman95 · 4 pointsr/chromeos

Just ordered this one for 250. Its was actually $25 CHEAPER than the same model with the 1366x768 screen.

This does 29W over USB-C:
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B01D8C6ULO

On a side note, what Chromebook is that with the 47.5W charger? It seems that the Macbook 12 maxes out at 29W.

u/seluho · 1 pointr/chromeos

I bought this screen protector and it works on my x2. The chromebook plus v1 and pro use the same panel but the bezels are smaller so it fits insidethe bezels on the hp.

Your Anker charger will not have enough power output.

Think about a different approach -

Get a Chromebook that has a USB-C charger. Then build a travel kit around it. You will need a hub that uses your Chromebook charger as the power source, and includes multiple USB ports that can be used to charge your other devices.

This is one I found
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Premium-Charger-PowerPort-Delivery/dp/B072K5ZJXF/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511790995&sr=1-10&keywords=usb-c+power+delivery+charging

There are probably many other ones available.

I'm actually considering this for my MIL. Only downfalls are not 2 in 1 design so consequently no touchscreen.

u/zorro_hat · 1 pointr/chromeos

If my CB2 crapped out tomorrow I'd be looking at the Asus C425.

It has a larger 14" screen, but smaller bezels so it's about the same size overall.

u/Dandroid · 1 pointr/chromeos

So, I did not thoroughly do my research before purchasing the following charger as a spare for my Chromebook Pro
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072K5ZJXF/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

This charger only gives me the "Low-power Charger connected" notification even though the charger says 60W. There is a review from another purchaser that realized this after the fact, and Anker stated that the CBP required "at least 12V/3.33A input when powering it".

My question: Is there any recommended multi-port USB Charger that will put out the necessary input for the CBP? I'd prefer something trusted such as Anker, but if I have to go to other brands to cut down to carrying 1 charger I will consider it.

u/marcusfelinus · 1 pointr/chromeos

It seems to be more of a case of being unlucky,

I combed through the US amazon reviews, of which there are hundreds, and a minority report these hardware defects:

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-C201-11-6-Chromebook-Rockchip/product-reviews/B00VUV0MG0/ref=cm_cr_dp_qt_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&showViewpoints=0

u/medes24 · 5 pointsr/chromeos

Asus is probably where you want to be. Asus C201?

Both the C201 and the Flip sport 4 GB RAM variants but both are also using that Rockchip ARM CPU. The performance on it is fine but if you're doing any Linux voodoo, it might be annoying.

u/tankxy · 1 pointr/chromeos

I've been rocking this for almost a year now with no complaints, fits my CB3-111 just fine! https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-11-6-Inch-Laptop-Tablet-Bag/dp/B00DUGZFA6

u/gozarc · 1 pointr/chromeos

This Powerport is the one I use with my C302. No issues, although I can't tell you if it charges slowly or not because I charge it overnight.

Correction: it isn't this one. I bought this:
USB Type-C, Anker Premium 5-Port 60W USB Wall Charger PowerPort+ 5 USB-C with Power Delivery for Apple MacBook, Nexus 5X / 6P and PowerIQ for iPhone, iPad, Samsung & More
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D8C6ULO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nMZVzbFDZSJP6

So, it's the first one mentioned in the thread. Charges at 30W over USB-C.
