So yeah, guides have been a thing since launch (and before - I'm sure many vanilla WOW players had D&D guidebooks on broad class fantasy and such).

The game has been out for 15 yrs, to pretend otherwise is daft. Even if you've never played WOW, if you've played any other rpg-esque game you'll see influences from WOW and certain conventions (that were novel in 2004) will be familiar.

Will some people follow a step-by-step guide to the letter; possibly. Will they have fun; I hope so. Is wandering around Barrens for hours in-game because you missed a subtle reference to a quest direction fun; not for me.

Have I read guides, yes, many. Most contradict each other to some extent, that's part of the fun of discovery. Most reference pservers which we know to be flawed instances of what will come in Aug. So they're useful at best rather than canonical.

Will I be following my own path; yes, but rather than blindly putting all my talent points into Arcane and wondering why I'm hitting like a wet noodle, I'll use my knowledge to build a better mage. I'm not min-maxing and I'm not no-life raiding, so I won't be using a cookie-cutter build.

But I'm also not 12 and know the value of good research.
My one suggestion would be to prioritize your CPU over GPU. WoW is actually a more CPU intensive game.
Here are some suggestions from what I believe are some of the best value gaming laptops right now:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Overclockable-Aeroblade-PH315-51-78NP/dp/B07CTHLX8C/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1566063520&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Predator has a 1060, 144hz screen, SSD, and a super powerful i7 professor. This thing will run WoW like a beast.
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1566063607&s=gateway&sr=8-7
Newer generation of predator is gonna cost you a few extra bucks, but you get a 1660ti which is a big upgrade over a 1060 plus you get the newer gen i7 as well.
https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-TUF505-Notebook-NVIDIA-Windows/dp/B07T3G4N7Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_58?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1566063845&s=gateway&sr=8-58
Another great option that gives you a 1660ti, although the AMD processor doesn’t perform as well as an i7, it’s still a perfectly capable processor.
I predict their enthusiasm for pizza wanes after the 15th consecutive meal. Here are some things that I've appreciated lately:
- a strong headlamp that is rechargable. I didn't really wear one for 30 years and I've worn mine 3-10 times a week since buying it a year ago. So, so, so, so useful. So useful. So very nice to have laying around nearby to make everything visible.
- Chair - Staple Hyken - comfortable and breathable
- giant mousepad - $10 to $25 and about two feet by three feet on the desk. When everything is a mousepad life is better
- three-jet butane lighter
- a good 12V drill and a drill bit kit. This has saved me about 10 hours and much frustration so far, though if you are considering it you could do better than that price.
- electric toothbrush
- computer repair kit
- good German alligator pliers
- minimalist wallet
The sticky notes are a cool added "feature", getting to see somebody else's notes.
I also recently started collecting many of the books from used book/gaming and thrift stores. Payed between $3-5 CAD for most but never spent over $10, even for the large hardcover books. It's been fun finding and looking through them.
So far, I've managed to find:
World of Warcraft Atlas
World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Atlas
World of Warcraft: Beginners Guide
The Art Of The Trading Card Game: Volume One (I was really surprised to find this one!)
World of Warcraft Bestiary
World of Warcraft Dungeon Companion
The Burning Crusade Official Straegy Guide • Wrath of the Lich King • Cataclysm
Looking forward to finding more good deals on some of the others.
I messaged you directly but I will post this here as well so others can see

This laptop is great for the price point. This is what I use myself until I can build my own PC in anticipation of running Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings.
Absolute bare minimum, "you can play, but it won't be impressing anyone" I'd suggest something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RF1XD36/ref=psdc_13896615011_t1_B07P7S89NY
Mid-range, entry level gaming laptop:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Nitro-AN515-Laptop-i5-8300H/dp/B07C715KNT
(approximate) Best for your Budget that I could find:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-Laptop-G5587-5859BLK-PUS-Anti-Glare/dp/B07CD3MRZD/
I have been reading this and having an amazing time. WoW Chronicle 1
Link: Amazon Link
I was browsing amazon prime myself and saw this setup:
https://www.amazon.com/CyberpowerPC-GXiVR8060A7-i5-9400F-GeForce-802-11AC/dp/B07PKXQBHN/ref=zg_bs_565098_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GH9K9VJ5ESSXG622SS8K
Seems like some good bang for your buck, I know its slightly over your $500 budget. Thoughts anyone?
This would be more than enough for WoW classic and a bunch of other modern games if you want to just click buy and have it all work. It’s $749 on Amazon Warehouse Deals (i Buy everything from Warehouse Deals if available. Have yet to have anything defective).
A lot of people are suggesting the G600, if that's to many buttons for you Logitech just relaunched their best mouse ever the MX518.
i actually have the https://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Programming-Reference-Creating/dp/0470229810 which was before alot of the changes they did and was mostly used for making addons for the early Wow, so i am excited to see Vanilla coming back and i want to learn to make addons for it.
> From TBC (or Wrath) WoW switched to "horizontal plus" mode, where you see more at the sides when the aspect ratio widens.
time to get me a wraparound 32:9 monitor so I can see those rogues sneaking up behind me
You're not getting many helpful responses that take into account that you might not want to build a PC yourself. This deal is decent and stays around your budget:
https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Desktop-graphics-690-0020/dp/B07BHXV3TJ
The one crummy thing about it is that it has a hard drive instead of an SSD, so load times will suffer and it will feel generally "slow." Luckily it is very simple to replace a hard drive with a cheap SSD, and reinstalling Windows is easy to do. If you literally only play WoW, you might be fine keeping the hard drive - but otherwise, I'd buy a cheap 2.5" SSD (256GB or higher) and swap out the hard drive.
If you're interested in building a PC and purchasing individual components, disregard everything I've said and check out r/buildapcsales and PCPartPicker.com - they have sections with builds for every price range.
Do you have a budget in mind? This is a good starting point imo https://www.amazon.com/Dell-G3-3590-Laptop-Generation/dp/B07WVRCWYK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=dell+gamer+laptop&qid=1567035929&s=gateway&sr=8-1
https://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Official-Chelsea-Monroe-Cassel-ebook/dp/B01M4QEFRB
I found a kindle edition on amazon, and the hardcover is not much more if you're interested. I can't recommend it enough
There are better and more expensive models but if you dont want to pay that much I recomend you this one, Ive used this during the early days, with wrath I switched to a more luxory model.
https://www.amazon.com/Stansport-271-Portable-Folding-Travel/dp/B000K6HN22/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1541910149&sr=8-13&keywords=camping+toilet
Luxory Model:

Looks like its the dungeon companion. Amazon link

Wonder what the difference is between all the available guides. Community lets put our heads together and find out which one we all need to purchase
For the horde ? It would be something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Idiots-Guide-Computer-Basics/dp/1592571689
:P :P :P
This might be exactly what you are looking for if you dont mind reading. Tells the story of the creation of the world, what happened 15000 years ago and up until around 60 years before vanilla https://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Chronicle-BLIZZARD-ENTERTAINMENT/dp/1616558458
I just bought a laptop so I can play. Haven't played since TBC and laptop specs mean nothing to me so I bought a 1200 dollar gaming laptop hoping itll be good enough (from what specs I could read, should be absolutely fine and probably overkill).
Now I just wait for it in the mail. I'm excited to play but not happy I had to drop some coin.
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MhTyDb64NA7MB
That's what I got if anyone has any input.
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-GDM-FW900-Widescreen-Trinitron-Monitor/dp/B00004YNSR
They're out there, but they come with a hefty price tag.
What about this https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Display-Graphics-Keyboard-A515-43-R19L/dp/B07RF1XD36/ref=sxin_0_ac_m_pm?ac_md=3-0-VW5kZXIgJDUwMA%3D%3D-ac_d_pm&keywords=laptop%2Bfor%2Bgaming&pd_rd_i=B07RF1XD36&pd_rd_r=d10fc897-f4e6-4355-ab4b-0f3fe045874c&pd_rd_w=jbf8z&pd_rd_wg=aNEAG&pf_rd_p=7ffdbddd-e073-4cb0-834c-3e54bd44941a&pf_rd_r=A4GVFEZVA3P7AK36R420&psc=1&qid=1568142202&s=gateway&sprefix=laptop%2Bfor%2B&th=1

This symbolizes the English Golden Dawn Hermetic tradition, "Per Aspera Ad Astra".

Not sure if you know but for a fellow 518 advocate, they re released it with the new sensor
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6RVW79/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6yXsDb73JN1E5
No, wide screen crts existed, and they could go much higher than 1920x1080 even.
Here is one from 2002 https://www.amazon.com/Sony-GDM-FW900-Widescreen-Trinitron-Monitor/dp/B00004YNSR
This is the only Amazon deal as of now under $500 I would consider. It'll run Classic 1080p High 60fps no problem.
