I bought a bare-bones model on Amazon that had pretty good reviews: This is the one I got for 35 dollars. I am a petite person, so I had trouble getting the chest strap to fit. No complaints if you only want to track your heart rate. It didn't do anything fancy like track calories, so eventually I upgraded to the Polar FT-7. I love it. It tracks calories and is able to tell you when you're in the fat-burning zone vs. the fitness zone during your workouts. It also keeps a log and charts of your progress. It's twice as much at 70 dollars.

  1. You'll be more sore and tired?

  2. It helps you make sure you're doing the right amount, engaging properly and not doing too much beyond what's actually benefitting you. I got a Polar FT1, which was ConsumerSearch's best budget heart monitor. It's under 50 bucks and works well. http://www.consumersearch.com/heart-rate-monitors/polar-ft1

  3. I'd highly recommend Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live for nutrition. DDP has his own nutritional advice, much of which Fuhrman mirrors, (no processed foods, no dairy, minimal red meat) but Fuhrman is really focused on nutritional density in a way that I've found really useful. Even before DDP Yoga, I lost 32 pounds just following Eat to Live, in less than six months. http://smile.amazon.com/Eat-Live-Amazing-Nutrient-Rich-Sustained/dp/031612091X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398703036&sr=8-1&keywords=eat+to+live

  4. Of course not.

Thanks for the response. I just found this one on Amazon for 20 bucks. I just read another post and they said it worked with DDP Yoga. I figured for 20 bucks it's worth to try.

First off, congratulations on losing almost 100 pounds! That's an amazing accomplishment.

When I started doing DDP Yoga, my apartment had carpeted floors, so I never had this issue. However, my current apartment has hardwood floors, and the first time I used my old cheap yoga mat, which was super thin, it just killed my knees. Just getting into safety zone was painful, and I certainly felt it the next day.

I started having a foam cushion nearby and using it when I knew I had to be on my knees, but having to place it and remove it constantly was really inconvenient. I ended up buying a much thicker yoga mat (1/2 inch thick mat, similar to this one on Amazon) and that definitely helped prevent this. So I would recommend that.

I got this one [here] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IGAQ7KS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I absolutely love it. I've been using it for a little over a month now. I'm a tall guy, and this works just fine for me. Not too expensive either.

I bought the Wahoo Tickr Fit, it's am armband style and works really well both in terms of accuracy and with DDPY

I bought this spray recently and it works like a charm. Little pricey, but it'll last a while.

My scale does it. You can use calipers or buy one of these.

I don't know how accurate my scale is, but it's consistent and allows me to track any trends.

You can consider using puzzle piece mats. This is what I used before using a yoga mat and I still use it when practicing crow and handstands since it gives extra cushion.

I bought this one back in July. Currently $30, As long as I remember to wet the part of the strap the monitor connects to it seems to work fine. No idea if you need to wet the Wahoo monitor.

I had a angled padded seat cushion for low back pain.

Like this but not this one. http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Therapeutic-Grade-Wedge-Cushion/dp/B0182I5W86/ref=sr_1_sc_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1458813452&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=wedge+paded+seat+cushion

I use it for kneeling when I have to. The nice thing is that it is different thickness so you can figure out how much cushion you need. My knees are bad from the military and it took awhile before just my extra thick yoga mat was enough.

I like the cushion more than knee pads only because the back of my knee gets irritated from the knee pads when working out.

My first one was:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X6BXYVQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought it because it was thick. It didn't seem to slide much on my lam hardwood flooring. I stopped using it because I found (just a personal preference) that the thicker mat seemed to make it more difficult to balance on the standup stuff.
