It's a small adventure figuring out the details of getting a costume together, but there's a few things to consider when making your own.
First and foremost is the suit: are you going to go full bodysuit, or spin it off in another direction? You can find a zentai suit on ebay for like $40, and then if you really want you can do a different mask or even make your own depending on your sewing skill. Personally, I made a shirt and then used some black cargo pants for a more "realistic" version rather than a spandex suit.

Next up is accessorizing: chances are you'll want some sword sheathes like these or these to put your swords in. Holsters are easily acquired on Amazon, or any sort of airsoft equipment would do the trick too.

Hope this helps! Here's a picture of my costume for reference.

The DeadPool belt buckle was hand made with:

1 CD (for Tracing the circles in the foam board)

Foam Board (3 Layers)Exacto Knife

Sandpaper

Modgpodge Sealer + Paintbrush

Black spray paint

Cardboard

Acrylic paints

--Use the CD as a trace for the Foam Board. cut out three circle layers, and also cut
out the symbol if you want to keep a 3-D look.

--Use any kind of glue to put together the pieces, and then apply sandpaper to the edges of the buckle to round them out. Also use sandpaper on small areas for fine touches.

--Begin applying the Modgepodge Sealer with the paint brush.

--After drying spray paint the whole buckle. If you didn't add any sealer the buckle will become soggy and deform.

--After drying the paint, apply your acrylic colours and you're done.

--Add more sealer for extra protection if you'd like.

--I also glued the C-D I used for tracing to the back for added support the prevent it from bending at the edges, and added velcro to it and the belt. It is very sturdy.

---- Here are the links to everything I purchased for my costume.

-The Suit - I made sure to use the custom sizing because I'm 6'6, so I think it's worth the couple minutes to size yourself.

-The Swords - I live in Canada, and these are the best swords I could find that work well for the cosplay, and have a good shipping price.

-The Belt and Holster

-The Gun - I already had a cheap airsoft pistol I picked up at a surplus store. I spray painted it and painted the DeadPool logo on it's side just because.

It is absolutely the best. These Omnibus' are beasts, but absolutely beautifully made, and will withstand a lot. They have a new one coming out in January, too...

Start with Deadpool Pulp. It starts off the Deadpool character in a way that I think has gotten left behind with the growing popularity of the character.

You'll really like how him and his multiple personalities are depicted. Plus, it's a lot like those 1920 PI stories. At least that's how it felt to me.

Most people suggest Joe Kelly's run and Cable & Deadpool (you mentioned you already read that one.)

I started with the current run by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn and it's generally considered pretty good as well. Apparently nobody likes Daniel Way. Poor guy.

The suit I got from a site called Doitstyle

the mask is actually a wrestling mask from elucha

and pretty much everything else came from either Amazon or my friends.

Sorry about the long respond time, I've been Deadpooling

Not so ninja edit: I got the bandolier from an army surplus store.

For those of us who prefer to shop on the internet - it's also on Amazon;

Great find, OP! I think I might get one of these.

Duggan's run starts off with the Dead Presidents arc and you can pick up the tpbs starting with that. Or you could sub to Marvel Unlimited for a month and just read like crazy from there :)

u/TranquilMarmot · 2 pointsr/deadpool

Only $12 too! I have one and it's actually pretty big and very well made.

u/Optimoprimo · 5 pointsr/deadpool

Just personal opinion, but Way was one of my least favorite Deadpool writers. If you're looking to spend the same amount of money and you don't already have it, invest in Kelly's series from '97. He was the best writer that Deadpool has ever had.

I know! Amazon charges so much for it:

Paperback (used): $66.52 + $3.99 shipping

Paperback Bargain Price (used): $100.12 + $3.99 shipping

Hardcover (used): $100 + $3.99 shipping

I like how the "bargain price" is more than the hardcover price.

He first appeared in "the new muntants" issue 98 I beleive.
But that one is going to be expensive af.
I'd just start with deadpool classic volume 1 it's a pretty thick book for around 10 to 15 bucks.

Edited: nvm it's 20$

Im just hoping I can control myself as I'm buying parts for a new pc and that going to take up the next few months...must find control!

I let myself have one more purchase yesterday before saving everything, couldn't help it.

Look at the sidebar, there's a recommended reading list (and the second rule is no asking where to start, there's "no linear story anyways." However, for tpb's that aren't on the list I'd recommend Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe and
Deadpool: Dead Presidents. Fun and over the top one shots that are quick and entertaining to read and touch on other characters in the MCU without getting really invested in them.

u/nmonag · 1 pointr/deadpool

I really want to read this! Is it in this?

u/shizknight · 1 pointr/deadpool

Well Daniel Way was the main writer on the game, so you could pick up the last Deadpool series(Deadpool volume 3 [2008-2012]) to get more of that flavor Deadpool. Apparently they're re-releasing the graphic novels of it starting next week. http://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Daniel-Way-Complete-Collection/dp/0785185321/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1376103459&sr=8-5&keywords=deadpool

u/Troop-the-Loop · 1 pointr/deadpool

You can get the omnibus for $125 on Amazon if you want a physical copy.

u/TerBear62 · 1 pointr/deadpool

Here is Volume 1 and here is vol. The difference is the bigger Volume 1 has both vol.1 (issues 1-5) and vol.2. It also has the Thunderbolts issues.

u/DrellAssassin · 1 pointr/deadpool

I'm putting together a Deadpool cosplay right now, this is what I planned on using:
Belt,
Magazine Pouch.
There's also this, but it's a bit pricey.

u/Gimpster · 5 pointsr/deadpool

Link?

I saw one on Amazon, but I'm not sure if it's official or not...

edit: Link

u/PorterDaughter · 5 pointsr/deadpool

That depends on what you're looking for.

Classic Deadpool with Vanessa, Blind Al and Weasel is from the 90's, and wirtten by Joe Kelly. It's basically Deadpool vol.1, Issues #1-33+ 2 Annuals. There were collected as Deadpool Classic #1-5.

Afterwards there's Cable and Deadpool team up series, it had 50 issues, all worth reading.

Then there's Gerry Duggan's run from 2012. It ended very recently.

A new Deadpool series written by Skottie Young will begin next month.

Since you did ask for a specific issue. I really enjoyed the seventh issue. Others seem to have too. It does start a new story but I would say it works as a stand alone as well.

Damn, $154.99 on Amazon

Not sure you'll find it cheaper anywhere.
