Amazon, Walmart, and some of the other big box stores sell them online.
In-person purchases are trickier. I've had luck with internet searching local disc golf stores but there are definitely areas where they really don't exist. Party stores, gas stations, media stores - it's weird who sells them and who doesn't.
Premium discs run about $15 a pop. Base discs around $8. There is a very real difference in the quality of the plastics here. A lot of people recommend DX plastic to start with because it's cheaper and easier to throw. Personally I found they went to crap waaaaay too quickly - big gouges and scrapes pretty much from the start.
This is the gold standard for starting:
https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Disc-Golf-3-Disc-Colors/dp/B000Q838XW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1506561217&sr=8-6&keywords=disc+golf+starter+set
Personally I like this set more from a mold stand-point (although the Escape is probably fast for a beginner).
https://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Discs-Prime-Disc-Starter/dp/B00T6TBNX4/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1506561217&sr=8-16&keywords=disc+golf+starter+set
This set is pricier, but you'll use it forever. Plastic is darn near indestructible and they are useful discs at several play levels - you'll need an arm for the volt though.
https://www.amazon.com/MVP-Disc-Golf-Neutron-Straight/dp/B00OS9ZN4C/ref=pd_sbs_200_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KC5V01K22CEXT3DVJ35M
Personally though, I'd probably piecemeal one together for a starter kit. A 175g Judge Classic, 170+ E-Mac Truth, 170+ Neutron Switch or Lucid River, and then a light 150g driver like an Opto Air Diamond maybe.
bestdiscgolfdiscs.com suggests a Valkyrie, Roc, and Aviar for 3 discs. They do use Amazon Pay but you can't use a gift card for that, which is why I assume you specify Amazon.
The problem with buying a set is they're just going to give you what ever they have but it will be cheaper than buying individually.
This Innova Set is decent, The TeeBird is my favorite Innova fairway drive and one of the best all around discs and it has a recommended Roc. I can't say anything about the Rhino but I think when you're starting out putters don't matter much. A similar Innoa Set This one is Leopard, Roc, and Aviar. So maybe this is a little safer as most players will agree that Roc and Aviar are solid discs. Then maybe throw in a GStar Valkyrie and you're just over $40 but you've got some solid discs.
This set of 4 Discraft goes right up to your budget but there's no listing of discs so it's a gamble. In the photo you see a Nuke which is a horrible disc for beginners.
This DGA set Is notable because they're all 150 class discs. Lighter discs can be good for absolute beginners but if you did play a little and can throw then light discs might be more of a burden. It all depends on your arm speed, I'd probably suggest this more for women and children. The Squall is a great beginner mid and the Reef is a solid putter. In normal plastic I'd say the Rogue is not good for beginners but being so light it might work.
There are a few that are primarily based around the history of the Frisbee itself like 'flat flip flies straight' , which if you really like the history of it is pretty interesting, and a few others like 'the complete book of Frisbee..' which I have not read .
More specific to disc golf is The Definitive Guide... .
edit: here is a great little short write up I keep bookmarked.
Athletico Power Shot Disc Golf Backpack - 20+ Disc Capacity - Pro or Beginner Disc Golf Bag - Unisex Design (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C38G49H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_t6u3DbQ7YJK37
Here me out on this one. I started playing about 6 months ago and have been using this bag for about 4 months. It’s lightweight, seems durable, currently I have 13 discs in it (i would say maybe 20 is the max), the left pocket fits my large water bottle in it with ease, the insulated pocket can hold 5 beers or two waters. I’ve been pretty happy with it so far and for price it’s a great value
You can most certainly talk yourself out of a good throw. You need to find a way to relax and stay relaxed. If you're young it can be especially difficult, but you have to be mentally strong if you ever want to be truly competitive. Read this https://www.amazon.com/Zen-Disc-Golf-Patrick-McCormick/dp/1502779331 and have half a brownie before the round.
They are showing pictures of two different baskets. As each basket has different chain configurations. One just has 24 outer chains, while the other has a set of inner chains.
The one with inner chains, has heavier/beefier chains. Looks identical to an MVP Black Hole Pro. They retail for about $140.
The basket with just the outer chains look like the baskets sold under the name Yaheetech. They retail at Amazon for about $100 each.
I'm not sure I'd order 10 or more of these baskets directly from China. For 10 baskets, I'd expect shipping to cost $300 to $500, more than what the baskets are worth. Maybe if I owned an import business, where I had my own shipping containers being shipped regularly. Maybe then it would be worth the hassle and the wait.
Anyways, you could probably get the Yaheetech on sale for about $85. Black Hole Pros are sometimes on sale for about $120. These aren't very heavy duty baskets though, and probably won't do well, if you keep them outside in the elements. Guess that's why they are considered portable.
If you search and asked around locally, maybe you could find some good USED baskets. It just matters where you are located. If it's a popular disc golf area, you may be in luck, as some courses get new baskets every 10 years or so, and they sell the old used ones for a nice discount.
My advice is to enjoy what you are doing. The results will follow.
I used to get so mad after my first missed shot because I knew I wasn't going to set some new personal record. What that did was make me dislike playing the rest of the round - all I could think about was how I fucked up and won't be able to beat some old score.
Focus on being "present" and Slow down.
I could ramble on and on about this, but someone has done a better job. Check out this book or audiobook ( I like the audio version, b/c I can play it on the way to the course ). If it's not feasible for you to buy it, DM me and I will send it to you for free via Audible.

A lot of people use the Camp Time Stool. It's the one Dynamic Discs sells with their custom seats. I've had it and a cheap one from Amazon and the Camp Time is MUCH better. It's wider so it puts less pressure on the man bits, IME.
As for an umbrella, I love my large Gust Buster.
https://www.amazon.com/Driven-Disc-Golf-Beginners-Satisfaction/dp/B00G7VX8UK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1499486072&sr=8-2&keywords=innova+starter
One of the options there looks like it might be Aviar/Roc/Valkyrie.
I got a 4 piece set with a bag that was aviar/roc/tee-bird/beast that I really like, but the only seller left has jacked the price up.
Through my first 30ish rounds, they've held up nicely though. Would recommend Innova.
https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Mini-DISCatcher-Disc-Golf/dp/B01E4C19EA
I purchased this last week. Not for kids but for myself. It comes w/ 5 discs and is amazingly fun. The kids can do it around the house and maybe bangin' them chains on a small scale will help get them into bigger discs
This has been a big hit at our house in addition to the backyard basket. 😁 5 year old daughter loves to join in on rounds (if it’s not too hot because, Oklahoma 🥵)
i have no idea! but hopefully people will be able to give some feedback about this one, the fade crunch box, as that is the one i am debating getting. some better pictures are on the fade website and some reviews are on amazon.
i don't really want to end up carrying a bunch of discs, and i just want something that can switch between carrying a full 12 discs, or a half load and some brewskis. what kind of bags are you eyeing?
Don't forget to mention how cheap it is. A basket is like $250 including the theft-proof lock system. You only need a few baskets to make a satisfying course. Not even 9, but people might get mad at me for saying that because they be like "nah man you need at least a half course" I found just three baskets to be enough in a triangle formation. Of course it would be easy to jam pack the course in that condition. I'm just listing some ideas that may be helpful to consider. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HXM48Y2/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1426781635&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=disc+golf+basket
The Fade Crunch Box will fit that bill for around $30 (more colors around the net if you look). It's marketed as a 12 disc bag, and has a divider. I bet I could fit 10 discs in (2 in the putter pocket) and a six pack without much coercion. It's not insulated... but for the money, I'd just toss a few ice packs in there.
It's very well made, I routinely carry a 2L of water with me on the course, no signs of wear on the bag yet.
As for straps, I got the LC-1 H-type military suspenders for about $15 shipped. I can't justify spending $50 on straps... these do the job quite nicely.
https://www.amazon.com/MVP-Disc-Sports-Module-Basket/dp/B07CQ332L1/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 these are good and cheap! They work great. You'll have to change batteries every once in a while.
Mach II by DGA is a good middle of the road model that will withstand being left outside for years.
I have one and I love it.
https://www.amazon.com/DGA-Mach-Disc-Golf-Basket/dp/B00HXM48Y2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525268210&sr=8-1&keywords=mach+II+dga&dpID=411wqW4CPJL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
...Less than stellar reviews of the construction on Amazon. I think a determined buyer could easily strengthen the construction of the product themselves though, so probably worth it.
http://www.amazon.com/Park-Sun-Portable-Disc-Target/product-reviews/B0081MTESI/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
Here you go!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005X97SHQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1521930208&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=disc+golf+bag&dpPl=1&dpID=413MiPM-KpL&ref=plSrch
It has held up pretty well especially for the price and it says 8 but it will hold 9 including the front putter pocket. I just took out my least used discs or the ones I didn't think would be good for the course.
Not a clamp, but these work great imo, multiple color options and fairly cheap.. though if your trying to light up a full course the cost will add up
lunar module
This deal is the deal. I wish there was a costco nearby...Here's the product on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Park-Sun-Portable-Disc-Target/dp/B0081MTESI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376366753&sr=8-1&keywords=disc+golf+basket
Average review is 2.7 stars, so beware.
EDIT: But for 20$, thats a sweet deal.
I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Champion-Discs-DISCatcher-Traveler/dp/B008RU1UV8/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=innova+disc+golf+basket&qid=1566831074&s=gateway&sr=8-4
It doesn't catch as well as a normal basket but it's fairly obvious when you would have nailed a put on a normal basket and when you wouldn't have.
I like it because it folds up into just bigger than a camping chair. I like to take it camping or on family vacations where there is a lot of space so it fits easily into my van.
A bag really isn't necessary for only 3-4 discs. It's just preference though. You can get a bag like this that holds around 15 discs for pretty cheap.
These are the best imo

This book will take 2 hours to read cover to cover.
The author recommends reading a chapter, playing a round or practicing, then reading another chapter, etc.
I like it.

We bought this one for my son last Christmas and it has been outside ever since. Overall it is still in great condition.
Yaheetech Portable Disc Golf Basket - Lightweight Double Chains Portable Practice Target Steel Hole Disc Golf Goals Catcher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071X8HYWX/
I've got one of these and it's great.
https://www.amazon.com/MVP-Practice-24-Chain-Portable-Disc/dp/B01A7H8FJI/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2KSCYXI33RT9N&keywords=mvp+disc+golf+basket&qid=1555462969&s=gateway&sprefix=mvp+disc+%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-4
I was in the same dilemma and after long debate on which one I should buy I ended up going with the Innova Discatcher Traveler for $122 on Amazon and don't regret it for a second.
The quality is so much better than the Franklin Sports and it has real chains. Folds up nicely and includes a carrier bag and all accessories needed to set it up. Spend a little more, you won't regret it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RU1UV8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'll throw this in there. Very happy with it.

I picked this one up that was recently linked in this sub. Quite impressed with it. Same construction as the MVP / Axiom, just unbranded. ~99$ + 5% discount you can apply. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SSHXYTX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H1PS2TS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use these. They're perfect.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BBRO3HQ?psc=1
this is what i have. its essentially the same basket. obviously it doesnt catch as well as a legit basket, but its way better at catching than the innova traveler baskets. takes probably 2 minutes to take apart.
bag
Such a fun course, and such an epic hole!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00T6TBNX4/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1487444814&sr=8-15&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=dynamic+discs
These are probably a better investment than the Innova one based on the heavier weights they tend to come in. You'll still want to throw them if you get Into the game where you'll probably shelf the Innova ones for being too light.
I recently just stepped up from my small sholder bag to a full backpack and found this one fairly cheap on Amazon. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and have no complaints. I love the big two side pockets and front zipper pocket, as well as the front pocket from my putters.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C38G49H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Got both of them as an early birthday gift from my GF so not entirely sure where she got them from. Here's some Amazon links though
Sorry 'bout that. It's the Fade Crunch: http://www.amazon.com/Fade-Gear-Crunch-Disc-Small/dp/B001FSZA60
Though if I were to pick a bag again, I'd definitely take a look at the Voodoo stuff. It's so awesome.

These boxes are as close to an ideal size as I could find in a plastic storage box with lid. They work well for me.

Saw these online too. Look real nice, but no lid.

Get a cheap-o basket for putting in the backyard...
An Aerobie Epic disc. That thing is weird. Throw a hammer throw hard enough and it flips all the way over and flies like a forehand.
I'm digging the price on this one compared to other stuff. Looks about the same as this Yaheetech.
