Thank you all! I'm all out of Dogecoin to give on this giveaway; but I had a wonderful time and I hope you all did as well! Once sodogetip is back online, those waiting for Doge should all get it... otherwise, well... we'll see what we can do. XD

Oh and in case no one has been following all the responses here, the image is an homage to one of my favorite books called The Go-Giver....

https://www.amazon.com/Go-Giver-Expanded-Little-Powerful-Business/dp/1591848288

...if you haven't heard of it, please read it when you can [either by buying or borrowing it from a library], it will make you appreciate what we do here in the Dogecoin community!

Good luck, fellow shibes and Doge-givers!

For the sake of publishing, I've had good luck with CreateSpace and KDP. Both are owned by Amazon and take a much smaller cut of royalties than traditional publishers.

To prove they work, here's a link to something I've published.

(Not child friendly, written for cynical teenagers.)

I actually wrote a children's story about the moon once. MOON, Shibes.
And here it is, in it's entirety.

Once there was a girl who loved the night sky.
she loved the moon.
She loved the stars.
She loved the airplanes.
Once, on her birthday, she had a wonderful wish.
She wanted to visit all her friends in the sky.
She wanted to ride an airplane.
She wanted to walk the moon.
She wanted to dance among the stars.
The moon, having heard her wish, lifted her from the ground.
She flew past airplanes.
She flew past clouds.
She came to meet the moon.
“I am the moon, and I love you”
“But moon, I want to keep going. I want to see the stars.”
“The stars will hurt you.”
“I just want to dance among them.”
“They won't treat you right.”
“They're so pretty.”
“I suppose, if you really wish, I could let you dance with the stars.”
“Thank you, moonfriend.”
So the moon let her go, and she kept flying. She met with the stars, and asked them to dance.
One star was hot and burned her.
One star had become a black hole and tried to shrink her down.
One star exploded and left her with a bruise.
When she could no longer take the stars, she floated back down to the moon.
“Moon, why did the stars hurt me?”
“Because they may be pretty from afar, but up close, they can hurt you.”
“Would you ever hurt me, moon?”
“no. I am the moon, and I love you.”
“You wouldn't make me feel small?”
“You are big to me.”
“You wouldn't bruise me?”
“I have no way to bruise you.”
“I love you moon.”
“I love you, girl.”

It is difficult to accept because I didn't see your reasoning - it is not as obvious as you think. Basically, you are claiming that a better tax regime structure will make the poor not poor and thus the exemptions would end. This would, of course, mean that the tax rate becomes more regressive again, because without exemptions those at the lower levels pay more of their income in taxes than the rich. And of course, this will help to further stratify society and keep the money where it's at. Now that I understand your reasoning it is even harder to accept.

Percentage of income taxed is THE measure. That's why we have progressive tax rates today. Taxing the wealthy at the same rate as the poor is simply unfair in addition to creating greater inequality in society. There has been general agreement since the 19th century that fair taxation is progressive taxation, which is why we have progressive tax rates around the world and no one has done anything as silly as a flat tax.

And the US has forced redistribution all the time: note how income has shifted upwards over the last 35 years while the tax burden shifts away from businesses and the rich and onto the middle class. This has been largely due to deliberate tax policy favoring the wealthy. Your proposal would be the greatest giveaway every to the super rich. For data, see the book "Perfectly Legal."

I would like to recommend as fitting nicely with the 1 doge = 1 doge philosophy of "enthusiastic indifference" the following two references for those interested in economics and currency markets:

Evidence for the fact that the stock market is efficient so to try to beat or time the market is basically impossible:
A Random Walk Down Wall Street

Very helpful community for beginning investors:

If you train regularly, then use this downtime to read and research. If you have not read it already, Mark Rippetoe's book Starting Strength is a pretty good read.

Additionally, try meditation or even yoga.

You can also look at catching up on some good movies or some great books.

And if you are in mood for some light reading, I have sent you a PM with a link from where you can freely download my books on Trivia Quizzing: Vol I, Vol II, Vol III, Omnibus. Each one should not take more than an hour and hopefully you will enjoy them.

Growing The Money Tree - Financial Freedome One Leaf At A Time

The description and such are the same on that page as they are on Amazon, but my Amazon page has some reviews for those who may be interested. Link for Amazon is here.

Thanks shibes!

Someone already suggested codeacademy, another one to check out is https://www.udemy.com/java-tutorial/.

Note: If you are looking for a teaching tool for people who have never coded before, always check to see if one of the first programs (if not the first) it has you code is a "Hello World" program (or equivalent). It is a simple program that just prints "Hello World" on the screen that is the first program most people learn to code. If the guide is starting with something more complex than "Hello World" it may not be for absolute beginners. Just something to look out for.

If you are OK paying for a book, a good book in the beginners section would be Java: A beginner's Guide from Oracle. Start with the two free sources mentioned first as the book jumps into more advance topics more quickly.

This would be really cool: http://amzn.com/B001AY2WLU

Or one of these: http://muchmarket.com/downloads/dogetag-laser-etched-dogecoin-address-dogtag/

Or just some doge would be cool.

Merry Christmas!

This is very good to get started on basic economics theories: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Economics-Dummies-UK-Peter-Antonioni/dp/0470973250

Don't be put off by the Dummies title. It's an excellent book for beginner. And it's also available, ahem online if you search hard enough.

It is!

It is pseudo-historical in that it's 1976. About the very beginnings of Napa Valley receiving notoriety ... kind of unexpectedly abroad in France.

The film is mostly set in California, it's funny at times, has good music (here). I think it picks up speed after 15m30s because thats when all the characters have been introduced.

edit: yo' spelling be difficult :-)

You should read The Mythical Man Month. It's quite a good explanation of why throwing money and manpower at software does not fix problems and can significantly increase delay.

There's nothing wrong with a small development team using an agile development method.

It's a lot like forex, although margin trading isn't common (but the market swings are big enough that margin trading would be incredibly risky, anyway). There's also no standard downtime over the weekend in the way there is in forex, it continues 24/7 across a range of markets. Cryptocurrency markets are also extremely susceptible to manipulation on a level you just don't see on any common forex pairs.

If you're an experienced trader, you can probably make decent money on arbitrage. If you're not an experienced trader, as with any market you can probably expect it to essentially swallow your account whole.

Edit: If you're really going to try this, at least read a good book on the basics, such as http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1593376863

I'm not a skateboarder I've tried and failed in my teens, but this book disagrees with your statement.

My favorite movie is the first "Matrix" movie, available from amazon on dvd very cheaply. It's about how our world is, in fact, an artificial reality created by evil machines that control everything in this dictatorship. Look at the people around you. They're all oblivious to being slaves, although a minority are waking up to the lies of the government. The population are being enslaved more & more & more.

has plenty of reviews.
