For general fantasy I've enjoyed Gentleman Bastard, The Kingkiller Chronicle, and The Broken Empire. I listen to Kingkiller Chronicle fairly often due to the amount of commuting I do where I live.

For more urban/fantasy maybe try Lives of Tao, Iron Druid Chronicles, or anything by Neil Gaiman. The anniversary edition of American Gods was really excellent on audio-book. Not sure if the others have audio editions or not.

I've also really enjoyed stuff by Drew Hayes (a webnovelist). His banner series is SuperPowereds. But I though NPCs was a great take on an old fantasy trope. Neither come in audio formats unfortunately.

Good luck.

If you're looking for something really dark I'd suggest Harry Connolly's Twenty Palaces series. The first one is Child of Fire. I really enjoyed it and Jim Butcher has also recommend it. Keep in mind there are only 3 books and 1 prequel that Harry self published due to his publisher dropping him.

If you're looking for something stupid and funny I recommend John Dies at the End and it's sequel This Books is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don't Touch It. I have to admit I'm a bit biased on those though, I won a free signed copy of TBiFoS by participating in an alternate reality game around the time of its release.

Marsters is narrating only the stories from Harry's POV. The full cast list is here! I don't know for sure if it's happened yet, but I expect it has, given that Jim had his recording session for "Even Hand" in early March. And I'm sure it was fine? :D

Go. Start reading.

The series is military sci-fi action-adventure political philosophy. It's a little hard to summarize. The central characters are at least as compelling as anyone in the Dresden Files, though, and the main character for most of the series is amazing. If you like watching Harry ad-lib and snark his way through problems, winging everything and fighting with tooth and claw for every victory, you'll like this series.

I'd love it if their tie in connection was from Tim Powers's "The Drawing of the Dark

Two urban fictions, with some Arthurian tie-ins, tied together with a historical Arthurian fiction based around beer.

I'm a fan of both the Monster Hunter series and the Iron Druid Chronicles.

Both help me get my Modern Fantasy fix while waiting for more Dresden Files.

Rivers of London is virtually in the same universe as the Dresden Files, but with a UK copper learning the magic arts.

Also, I just finished The Last Werewolf, which took me a while to get into because the lead character is a bit unlikable (compared to Harry), but was still an interesting urban werewolf story.

Cool! I recognize some elemental symbols in there (the triangles). What are some of the others?

I know them from 1000 Symbols: What Shapes Mean in Art & Myth; I remember that the circle with a dot is in there, too, but I can't remember the exact meaning without looking it up.

Doesn't quite work with book ten in the UK.

Just start at the beginning and read it in the order it was published. One of the later books, I don't recall which one, can be hard to find a copy of, so send me a message and I'll see if I can find the e-book for you if you get that far.

The Roc Omnibus editions are great, but sadly I think they've only done the first 6 books.

Sky Dragons did get released around 6 months after her death.

I also just discovered this coming later this year: https://smile.amazon.com/Dragons-Code-Anne-McCaffreys-Dragonriders/dp/110196474X/
