> same starting point completely different everything

Yeah pretty much. the comics are completely different. the only thing they have taken from the comics are a few character names. ( Maze, Amenadiel, Lucifer.) These Characters in the Comics look different and have drastically different personalities. The comics ARE NOT a police procedural. The Human show characters ( Chloe, Trixie, Dan, Linda Martin, Ella, Malcom etc.) Do not exist in the comics. The Devil doesn't have a therapist! Lucifer is also a lot more powerful in the comics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(DC_Comics)#Powers_and_abilities

Some people say you have to read Sandman first. I didn't and was able to understand what was happening. If you start with the Lucifer comic https://www.amazon.ca/Lucifer-Book-One-Mike-Carey/dp/1401240267/ref=sr_1_2ie=UTF8&qid=1483290863&sr=8-2&keywords=Lucifer I would recommend getting these books as it ensures you read the comics in the right order.

This is as comic spoiler free as possible but assumes you've watched season 1 of the show.

The comic starts off with an introduction and you are in darkness. Then we meet a human character. Then we end up at Lux. Amenadiel shows up. Like in the show but he wants something different. An agreement is made. And from here your off into a story that has absolutely nothing to do with the show. However like in the show Lucifer does not have his wings. This becomes a major plot point later and SPOILER ALERT they weren't stolen by a human.

What I've described here ( being purposely vague) is from The Morningstar Option. If you read Online start Here: http://www.readcomics.tv/the-sandman-presents-lucifer/chapter-1

Read all three issues and then go to: http://www.readcomics.tv/lucifer/chapter-1

STOP at issue 16 and go read Nirvana.
http://www.readcomics.tv/lucifer-nirvana/chapter-1

this is a oneshot that is important for Character development.

Then you can read from issue 17 on to the end.

There is also the new 2016 ongoing series. http://www.readcomics.tv/lucifer-2016/chapter-1

But make sure to finish the original run first.

I don't think someone's enjoyment of the Fox show can determine if they will like the comic. But since you like supernatural I think you will like the comics. Do you like Spn Lucifer and/or the heaven and hell stuff? Do you like it when Spn gets Philosophical. If yes than you should enjoy the comics. Kripke got inspiration for supernatural from Sandman and Hellblazer. Also if you like spn Lucifer as in Season 5 and Endverse You should like the comics.

I hope this helps. :)

One last side note. In the comics don't worry about the way Mazikeen speaks. It doesn't last long and due to certain events she starts speaking normal.

Please read and enjoy the comics. :)

It's fair; inspirational messages and/or quotes don't really get me either unless there's some really innovative typography art to them (AO3's logo is a great example of that).

I do really like logos and/or symbols... If they put out more subtle designs with the heart around the supernatural star (with or without the rainbow colors; either would be awesome) as like a modest patch on the chest or sleeve, I'd dig that a lot more than anything with writing on it.

I really like this fan's design of the heart+star too... maybe more than the original.

Still, I have absolutely nothing against these things. And at least JP's messages are decent.

It was looking at this one - "You are enough" - that I found this -- apparently there's a new shirt out with pretty much the same exact design as the YANA shirt only it's Jensen solo and the message is "Be strong in the moments where you want to be weak -Jensen Ackles-"

Like, lol. That's not even very inspirational. It's got kind of an adversarial/invalidating edge to it like 'don't be weak even if you want to be for a moment' lol

Edit: oh it's "I am enough" not "You are enough." lol oh god Jared's ultimate mission is obviously turning us all into Stuart Smalley!!! ahhhh! hahahahah PS - Al Franken's Stuart Smalley book is incredibly awesome & funny

I don't quite know what forensic genetics is, but if you want to learn more about bones you should get The Human Bone Manual! I loved this book. It's what we used in my human osteology class. Of course it's much easier to learn when you have bones to look at - my professor was very good too, but there's also nice online stuff and books. What kind of job are you trying to get?

The only episode I've truly liked so far is last week's, and I didn't care for the ending of it. Which makes me sad, because I want to love Capaldi so bad. I just don't feel that he is being given the support he needs to be a good character. What I want is some good ol' Douglas Adams type writing.

I highly suggest Shada for your reading pleasure. Compiled from Douglas Adams' notes and incomplete script for a six part finale to Tom Baker era season 7, to be fully formed and plot holes filled by Gareth Roberts.

If you click on the book you can read excerpts here. It really helped me change my life. For many, many years I was at the mercy of intense crushes. This helped me understand and get a handle on them. I think it's interesting to think about to what extent this kind of thing plays a role in our fan crushes, attractions to either characters or actors, and our feelings when they don't play out the archetypes we've assigned them. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/1625361572?pf_rd_p=183f5289-9dc0-416f-942e-e8f213ef368b&pf_rd_r=TBS9RTN4PMXNKRT6R64J

Those don't hold much though, maybe consider the Wine Rack or the Beer Belly instead.

Me personally, I generally just emptied a water bottle and filled it with clear booze. Which they've also managed to block. (not at a con, in general)

IT'S KINDA AMUSING TO ME THAT CAS COSTS SO MUCH MORE. PROBABLY CHEAPER TO GET HIM IN STORE IF YOU HAVE A STORE NEAR YOU THAT CARRIES FUNKO FIGURINES, BUT IF YOU DON'T, HOPE THESE HELP.

Looked the book up on Amazon because I've been hearing about it forever but still hadn't read it, and was tickled by some of the rather vociferous negative reviews. Basically, they're complaining loud and long that the book was just an excuse to get interviews with the SPN cast and crew. I wondered why they didn't add, "And why didn't /I/ think of this too??" Hee. (And now I'm wondering if I can wave /my/ PhD around to get a Jensen interview - hey, worth a try!!)

Well there's SPN Anti-Bullying on twitter and on tumblr. Funny enough (or heartbreaking enough), they get a lot of shit thrown their way.

> I also want to throw in that I'm sick of certain groups throwing hate on shippers.

This is a very good point and one that's brought up a lot in our sub. It's different but is no less bullying though. For example, while I believe the bullying within the fandom comes from a misplaced use of passion, I believe that the people "outside" (i.e. casual viewers) are made uncomfortable by shipping for entirely different and personal reasons. Which I can also delve a lot into.

I should really write an essay on this topic but the lovely ladies over at fangasm have in fact written about the Supernatural fandom here and here. I haven't read them yet (cause no ebook version) but I do believe they touch upon the negative aspects of the fandom and the struggles within.
