just disclaimer some of these toys should only be played with under your supervision so use your best judgement. Check any rubber or stuffed/fabric toys daily for wear and if you see it starting to come apart throw it away as any loose pieces can be swallowed and cause a blockage. My ferrets aren’t chewers they just like to have toys to stash so I’m not as worried but everyone’s ferrets are different so be careful. Also you could make a dig box with rice (never instant) or dried pasta which is a lot of fun for them. They love tunnels, they love to dig, and they love to steal and stash small objects so the toys meet that criteria they’ll be happy lol
Man! No ones on this thread. Would love to hear other people's opinions and thoughts as well. I'll throw out mine in the mean time.
I haven't really gotten around to researching daily supplements yet (i think because I'm a believer of nutrients coming straight from the food source), I've done a little research about Taurine but that's about it so far. If you mean emergency situation sickness stuff, I've been slowly building a first aid kit for our ferrets. Inside I have ProBiotics, FerretRx, and Ferret Lax. I've used all of these with great success. The Probiotic helps with some tummy upsets when switching food and minor illness. The Ferret Rx was a great help when a cold spread through out the home and even to the ferrets and the ferret lax is something I feel should be a requirement to ferret house holds. Defiantly helped durring shedding season.
Also, Liam and Jasper are looking adorable in that pic. ❤
>The shelter and all the pet stores in town only have the small triangular litter boxes which no one likes. How come stores are not stocking the larger square litter boxes anymore??
FTFY: Which
no one likesI don't like.
"Small" is pretty vague, so I'm not sure which litter box you are referring to as they come in various sizes. In fact I think there is an even larger triangle style box above the size I normally buy in the stores.

I have these Triangle Litter Boxes, which I wouldn't say are small. It is 10" x 10" x 14" which in my opinion is just fine and doesn't take up too much real estate in their cage. They are also great for your corners as my girls seem to use the ones I have around the room more than the one in their cage. I even used one in this Hard-Sided Travel Carrier after I put Velcro tape on the bottom of it to attach it to the carrier. I was able to put their favorite bed and the litter box in there. I also hung a hammock from the top and hung their food and water bowls off the door. It was only a 5 hour drive, but just another reason I love these litter boxes.

I have something more or less like this but you need to a size under, they then to be large.
I learned mine will wiggle and shimmy his way out of those pretty well but he takes to the full body harness well
Not the answer you are looking for, but some advice for the next purchase. I find the landscaping drain pipes don't smell so much, and are much more durable/ less expensive than the type you linked. Added bonus is that you can easily connect a bunch together for maximum tunnels.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Flex-Drain-Flexible-Expandable-Landscaping-25-Feet/dp/B000GI840E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510033017&sr=8-1&keywords=landscape+pipe
I'm from the UK and use the same beaphar paste, you can buy it from pets at home if you have one near you.
I've used these for clicker training, one of mine loves them, the other isn't bothered, so it's worth a try.
Also, both my boys absolutely love these, as in they will spend hours trying to climb a bookcase for them. They aren't the healthiest but given in moderation aren't too bad, I break them in half as rewards for doing tricks and such. (Chicken flavour, not fruit and raisen, or whatever the other one is).
Ok seems i found a great book on the subject, Reaching the Animal Mind: Clicker Training and What It Teaches Us About All Animals
https://www.amazon.com/Reaching-Animal-Mind-Clicker-Training/dp/0743297776/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&coliid=I1UIXR02B0R55W&colid=EB90Z6TWT7WO&qid=&sr=
Honestly it'd be substantially cheaper to make it yourself. The materials for my build were pretty cheap:
The carrier itself would be the most expensive single part; the one I used is probably about 15 years old, but the modern version costs about $50 shipped. PetSmart has similar and cheaper versions available (here, $33 and here, $26). So if you bought a new carrier locally and didn't paint it, your total materials cost would be somewhere around $85. For me to ship it to you would probably be another $30 or so more, and that doesn't include any proposed costs for my labor time. If I were to put it all together it probably took me about 2-3 hours of labor with the single biggest expenditure being the cutting of the baking racks for the loft floor. Although this project took me about nine or ten days overall, most of that was waiting for the paint to set up.
If you don't have a Dremel and cutting wheel you can probably get away with a strong pair of wire cutters (for the thinner wires) and a hacksaw or bolt cutter (for the thicker wires). The only other tools needed would be a rasp (to smooth out any burrs on the cut ends of the metal), a utility knife (for cutting the carpet to size), and a metal can (for making the hole in the litter pan; I used one that held canned chicken breast). If you buy a new carrier you won't have to paint it, which means you won't have to sweat out the mold release agent which means you won't need a torch. And technically you don't even need the metal can if you're capable of cutting a smooth hole (I'm not).
I use this pen but I covered the sides with those decorative metal sheets, and bought the cover that fits over the top. It is so much easier than a cage, and my ferret definitely prefers it.
I too have always used baby shampoo.. for the ferrets, the dog, and the cat. For conditioner I use this stuff which is freakin' amazing.
Its called eco bedding, it's just made out of paper.

You can look in to portable a/c units (like this.) I had to get one for my ferret room. Texas heat is horrible. Anyways they are pricey but you can them used for around $100ish. You just need a window to vent the heat from.
Short term solution maybe try a diy a/c?
One of my girls refused to use the triangular litter boxes (I think because she's a little chubster and was honestly too lazy to squish her body in a little) so I got her one of these and it seems to be working! It's a little longer than the triangular one so she doesn't have to squeeze herself in there. Because it doesn't have any real way to attach to their cage, I drilled two holes on opposite sides of the box and attached clips that easily clip onto the cage bars (also did this for the larger rectangular litter box you mentioned so they don't tip it over or move it to the middle of the cage)

Not quite the same one but close enough. The bell for sound is very much needed!
when i search for that, I can only find their "folding ferret mansion" Is this what you have? Or something different maybe?
This is the cage I was planning on getting.
Have you looked into this? It's made from apple bitters so it's safe and non-toxic, but it tastes HORRIBLE and smells very bitter and pungent if you get up close (i.e. your ferret would smell it right at the stove, but you wouldn't). If you do try it, do not just spray is at the offending area, it will diffuse through the air and you will taste it for days. Saturate a paper towel and wipe down the front of the stove and the area in front of it.
My dorm apartment stove had the bottom drawer, so I duct taped pieces of pizza box cardboard (the narrow edges) to the bottom of the drawer, but not to the floor, so they moved with the drawer, and then coated it in bitter spray, which the ferret I was babysitting at the time got grossed out by as he was trying to dig away the cardboard. So, maybe consider blocking it until your fuzzy learns to not want to play there?
